1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Alpine White, (Used)
The 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Alpine White stands as a hallmark of Gibson's Norlin-era craftsmanship, celebrated for its robust construction and distinctive tonal qualities. This model features a mahogany body topped with maple, a three-piece mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard adorned with mother-of-pearl block inlays. Notably, 1974 marked the 20th anniversary of the Les Paul Custom.
Gold hardware, including Repro Kluson tuners and a Tune-O-Matic bridge, complements the Alpine White finish, which often ages to a creamy hue over time. Kluson tuners, characterised by their "ribbed" backs, were standard on many models during this period. This guitar has been restored to its original specifications by re-installing Kluson tuners accurate to the original model.
The 1974 Les Paul Custom is renowned for its "T-Top" humbuckers, delivering a balanced tone suitable for various genres, from rock to jazz. Its "fretless wonder" low frets facilitate smooth playability, and the guitar's substantial weight contributes to its sustain and resonance. Collectors and musicians alike value this model for its historical significance and enduring performance qualities.
