The MXR Slash Octave Fuzz is an all-analog effects unit designed to combine three distinct voicings: a traditional fuzz circuit, a sub-octave layer, and an octave-up fuzz. Its enclosure follows MXR’s heavy-duty metal housing format, built to withstand stage use while keeping the internal circuitry protected. The pedal operates on a standard 9-volt power source and uses true hardwire bypass to maintain signal integrity when disengaged.

Its control layout features dedicated knobs for Volume, Tone, and Fuzz to shape the primary fuzz sound, along with separate level controls for both the Sub Octave and Octave Up circuits. A “Sub Into Fuzz” switch allows the user to determine whether the sub-octave feeds into the fuzz or remains clean, giving a choice between a tighter or more blended low-end response. A second footswitch activates the octave-up function, enabling rapid access to the higher-harmonic fuzz layer without changing any other settings.

The pedal’s design includes internal trim adjustments for fine-tuning the octave-up section, allowing precise control over gain and tonal emphasis. Input impedance, output impedance, and signal-to-noise specifications are engineered to align with other MXR professional-grade units, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of guitar setups.
