Why would you purchase used electric guitars over new?

Buying a second hand electric guitar from a reseller means the rigorous quality control and warranty. Buy from a private seller means that they most likely come with no manufacturer's warranty. Other than that, they are a great way to get into playing guitar, getting an older model for your collection, or to find something truly special.

Cheaper for beginners

When most new players look at what their first guitar should be, they will do some research and have an idea of what style they want to play. You aren’t going to be shredding heavy metal within a few weeks, so buying a second hand electric guitar should be a good all-round option to scale with your guitar ability; eventually you will need to buy a new one though. The main concern is you don’t want to invest a large chunk of money into something you may not be 100% confident in.

No longer in production

Guitar manufacturers have a few iconic models they have made for decades, but they aren’t necessarily the same. A 1950s Gibson Les Paul is different to a 2019 model. If you are looking for a specific build of guitar, then you may have to buy a second hand electric guitar.

Older hidden gems

There have been some incredibly unique, strange, and rare guitars in history. A lot of guitars are made on a production line nowadays, whereas older models were hand made. Which means each one is technically different. Sometimes a ‘flaw’ in the build can change how a guitar sounds, which is much more unlikely in modern guitar building.

Unique tone

With used electric guitars, the sound can change over time. The pickups getting used, and the sound becomes warmer. Some of the tonality of the used electric guitars comes from the fact they have been played extensively. The way a guitar is played can cause minute changes which can change how the guitar sounds. You can’t get that with a brand-new model.

What kinds of used guitars are for sale with Fair Deal Music?

Second hand bass guitar

The bass guitar is is a rhythm instrument, linking with the drums to form the backbone of a band. A second hand bass guitar will be a cheaper option, but could also have a unique tone. Usually, the more expensive a bass guitar is, the more control over the warmth and tonality you will get. The second-hand bass guitar could give you access to better sound!

Second hand electric guitar

The most iconic type of guitar, the electric guitar needs little introduction. There are probably second-hand electric guitars you could name the make of, just at a glance. The Fender Stratocaster has been copied by a handful of manufacturers and has become synonymous with beginner guitarists.
