Atkin 000-12S Acoustic Guitar, (Used)
The Atkin 000-12S is a handcrafted acoustic guitar built in the United Kingdom as part of Atkin’s Dust Bowl series, inspired by depression-era American flat-top acoustics from the 1930s. It features an all-solid mahogany construction for the top, back, and sides, paired with a mahogany neck and Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The guitar uses a 12-fret neck joint with a slotted headstock design, giving it the traditional proportions associated with early 000-style acoustics.
The instrument uses a 24.9-inch scale length, 45 mm nut width, and a soft-V neck carve combined with a 16-inch fingerboard radius. Internally, it uses scalloped bracing and lightweight body construction designed to maximise resonance and responsiveness. The body dimensions place it between smaller parlour-style instruments and larger dreadnought acoustics, with the 12-fret configuration shifting the bridge position further into the centre of the soundboard for increased bass response and projection.
The finish consists of aged nitrocellulose lacquer with cosmetic checking and vintage-style wear effects applied during production to replicate the appearance of an older instrument. Additional specifications include a compensated bone saddle and vintage-style Gotoh open-gear tuners. The Dust Bowl series construction focuses on lightweight materials and dry, midrange-forward tonal response associated with pre-war acoustic guitar design.
