Pairs well with
Description
The 2017 Gibson Les Paul Classic T in Green Ocean Burst combines traditional Les Paul construction and vintage-inspired humbucker tones with a fast-playing Slim Taper neck and several practical modern refinements.
Built in the USA with a mahogany body, Grade-A plain maple top and traditional 9-hole weight relief, the Classic T retains the sustain, authority and familiar feel expected from a Les Paul while reducing some of the mass associated with a completely solid mahogany body.
A pair of zebra Gibson ’57 Classic and ’57 Classic+ humbuckers delivers warm, PAF-inspired tones with excellent clarity, while hand-wired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors retain the straightforward two-volume, two-tone control layout.
Finished in the striking Green Ocean Burst, this Pre-Owned example is in Very Good condition, weighs an actual 9.92 lbs, and includes a hardcase.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
The Les Paul Classic T sits in a sweet spot between vintage-inspired Gibson character and practical modern playability.
Its Slim Taper neck gives it a noticeably faster feel than chunkier vintage-profile Les Pauls, while the ’57 Classic pickup pairing keeps the sound rooted firmly in traditional PAF-style territory.
The Green Ocean Burst finish also gives this particular model far more visual character than a conventional sunburst or goldtop.
DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS
2017 Classic T Specification
The 2017 Classic T was part of Gibson’s Core T range and combined traditional Les Paul styling with sensible modern touches such as locking tuners and carefully finished fretwork.
Mahogany Body
The mahogany body provides the thick midrange, sustain and low-end authority associated with a classic Les Paul.
9-Hole Weight Relief
Traditional 9-hole weight relief reduces some internal body mass while retaining a very familiar Les Paul response.
This individual guitar still has a substantial feel at 9.92 lbs.
Grade-A Plain Maple Top
The mahogany body is capped with a Grade-A plain maple top.
The maple adds attack and definition to the fundamental warmth of the mahogany.
Green Ocean Burst Finish
The Green Ocean Burst finish is one of the most distinctive cosmetic options offered on the 2017 Classic T.
Its green-to-darker burst gives the guitar a much more unusual appearance than traditional Les Paul finishes.
Set Mahogany Neck
The mahogany neck is glued into the body using traditional Gibson set-neck construction.
This contributes to the strong sustain and integrated feel associated with the Les Paul design.
Slim Taper Profile
The Slim Taper neck profile is designed for a faster, less substantial feel than traditional rounded Gibson necks.
It works especially well for lead playing and players coming from slimmer-necked instruments.
Rosewood Fingerboard
The rosewood fingerboard gives the guitar a traditional feel and adds visual contrast against the Green Ocean Burst finish.
12" Fingerboard Radius
The 12" radius provides a relatively flat playing surface that works equally well for chord work and string bending.
24.75" Scale Length
The classic Gibson 24.75" scale length gives the strings a slightly softer feel than a longer 25.5" design.
’57 Classic Neck Pickup
The neck position uses a Gibson ’57 Classic humbucker.
Its Alnico II construction delivers warm, articulate PAF-inspired tones ideal for blues, classic rock, jazzier cleans and smooth lead work.
’57 Classic+ Bridge Pickup
The bridge position uses the slightly hotter ’57 Classic+.
It retains vintage character while adding more output and midrange push for rhythm and lead playing.
Hand-Wired Electronics
The 2017 Classic T uses a traditional hand-wired control layout rather than a more complex switching system.
This keeps operation immediate and familiar.
Orange Drop Capacitors
Orange Drop capacitors are fitted within the tone circuit, contributing to the model’s traditional analogue control layout.
Traditional Four-Knob Controls
Each pickup has its own Volume and Tone control.
This allows the two pickups to be balanced independently and gives a wide range of sounds in the middle selector position.
Wired ABR Bridge
The wired ABR-style bridge provides accurate intonation adjustment and reinforces the guitar’s vintage-inspired specification.
Aluminium Stopbar
An aluminium stopbar tailpiece with steel posts keeps the bridge system straightforward and responsive.
Grover Locking Tuners
The guitar is fitted with Grover locking kidney tuners, making string changes quicker and providing secure string anchoring at the headstock.
9.92 lbs Actual Weight
This individual guitar weighs 9.92 lbs, giving it the substantial feel many players associate with a traditional Les Paul.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Gibson Les Paul Classic T is particularly well suited to classic rock, blues, hard rock, indie and players who want traditional Les Paul tones with a slimmer neck profile.
It should also appeal to players looking for a USA Gibson with a less common finish than the usual Heritage Cherry Sunburst or Goldtop options.

-

-
Blues
-
Hard rock
-
Indie
-
Alternative
-
Lead guitar
-
Rhythm guitar
-
Clean humbucker tones
-
Medium-to-high-gain playing

HOW IT COMPARES
Classic T vs Les Paul Standard
A Les Paul Standard often includes additional cosmetic appointments and, depending on year, more complex switching.
The Classic T keeps the focus on a straightforward vintage-inspired Les Paul formula with locking tuners and a slimmer neck.
’57 Classic vs Higher-Output Humbuckers
Higher-output pickups generally push an amplifier into distortion more easily.
The ’57 Classic pair prioritises clarity, dynamics and PAF-style warmth.
Slim Taper vs Rounded Neck
A rounded Gibson neck feels fuller in the hand.
The Slim Taper profile is shallower and generally better suited to players who prefer a faster neck.

FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★
Best suited for: Players wanting traditional PAF-inspired Les Paul tones with a slimmer, faster neck and a particularly distinctive finish.
Customers usually upgrade from: Epiphone Les Pauls, mid-priced dual-humbucker guitars and lower-tier USA-made solid bodies.
Most commonly paired with: Valve amplifiers, overdrive, boost, fuzz, delay and reverb.
Our tip: The two individual Volume controls are one of the Les Paul’s most useful features. Set the neck pickup slightly cleaner and the bridge pickup louder, then use the selector as an instant rhythm/lead switch.
Showroom feedback: The Green Ocean Burst finish makes this Classic T stand out immediately, while the ’57 Classic pickup combination gives it the vintage-leaning sound many players expect from a proper Les Paul.
