Quick Product Summary

The Fender Limited Edition Vintera II Road Worn ’60s Telecaster in Lake Placid Blue combines classic early-1960s Telecaster character with a naturally aged Road Worn aesthetic and a few player-friendly refinements. Featuring an alder body, Road Worn nitrocellulose lacquer finish, early-’60s “C” maple neck, slab rosewood fingerboard and vintage-style ’60s Telecaster pickups, it is built for unmistakable Fender twang, clarity and feel.

This brand-new limited-edition Fender also includes a Deluxe Gig Bag, making it an outstanding choice for players who love the appearance and character of a well-played vintage Telecaster without stepping into the vintage guitar market.

Why Choose the Fender Limited Edition Vintera II Road Worn ’60s Telecaster?

Authentic Road Worn Character

Fender’s Road Worn treatment gives the Lake Placid Blue nitrocellulose lacquer finish the appearance and tactile character of a guitar that has already spent years being played. The intentionally aged aesthetic complements the traditional Telecaster design beautifully and means the guitar feels less pristine and more immediately familiar.

Classic ’60s Telecaster Tone

A pair of Vintage-Style ’60s Single-Coil Tele pickups delivers the articulate attack, bright upper-end snap and distinctive midrange character associated with classic Telecasters. From clean country picking and blues to indie, rock and driven rhythm parts, this is an extremely versatile traditional Fender pickup configuration.

Comfortable Early-’60s Neck

The maple neck uses an early-’60s “C” profile, paired with a slab rosewood fingerboard. A 9.5-inch radius and medium jumbo frets provide a more accommodating playing surface than strict vintage specifications, making bends and contemporary playing techniques comfortable while retaining the overall vintage-inspired feel.

Traditional Telecaster Hardware

A vintage-style three-saddle Telecaster bridge with slotted steel saddles contributes to the guitar's direct response and traditional Tele character, while Fender vintage-style tuning machines complete the period-inspired specification.

Why Choose a Telecaster?

Few electric guitar designs have proved as enduring as the Telecaster. Its straightforward twin-pickup layout, bolt-on neck construction and simple controls provide immediate, responsive performance while allowing the natural character of the player and amplifier to shine through.

The Telecaster is equally comfortable covering country, blues, rock, pop, indie, punk and alternative music, making it an excellent choice for musicians who want one straightforward electric guitar capable of handling an enormous range of styles.

Who Is It For?

The Limited Edition Vintera II Road Worn ’60s Telecaster is ideal for players who want a traditional Fender Telecaster with convincing vintage character but do not necessarily want the compromises associated with an original 1960s instrument.

It particularly suits blues, country, rock, indie and alternative players, collectors of limited-edition Fender models and anyone attracted to aged nitro finishes and rosewood-board ’60s Telecasters.

Story & Context

The Telecaster established the blueprint for Fender's solid-body electric guitars during the early 1950s, but by the 1960s the model had evolved with features including rosewood fingerboards that gave instruments from the period their own distinctive appearance and feel.

Fender's Vintera II family revisits important eras from the company's history using period-inspired specifications. This limited Road Worn version takes that concept further with an intentionally aged nitrocellulose lacquer finish designed to recreate some of the visual and tactile appeal associated with a well-used vintage Fender.

How Does It Compare?

Versus a Standard Modern Telecaster

Compared with a more contemporary Fender Telecaster, the Vintera II Road Worn ’60s Telecaster focuses more heavily on vintage styling, traditional pickup voicing and period-inspired hardware. The Road Worn nitrocellulose finish also gives it a distinctive aged character that a conventional gloss-finished guitar does not offer.

Versus a Strict Vintage-Reissue Telecaster

While strongly inspired by 1960s Fender instruments, the 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and medium jumbo frets provide a more forgiving playing experience than many completely period-correct vintage specifications. This makes the guitar particularly attractive to players who want vintage character without sacrificing modern playability.

Versus an Original 1960s Telecaster

An original vintage Telecaster can be highly desirable but may come with considerable cost, wear and uncertainty surrounding originality. This Fender captures much of the visual and tonal inspiration of the era in a brand-new instrument built for regular use.

FAQs

Is the Road Worn finish accidental damage?

No. The wear is an intentional part of Fender's Road Worn finishing process. The guitar is supplied new while being deliberately finished to resemble an instrument that has naturally aged through years of playing.

Does it have a rosewood fingerboard?

Yes. This model features a slab rosewood fingerboard, giving it the characteristic darker appearance associated with many early-1960s Fender guitars.

What pickups does it use?

It features two Vintage-Style ’60s Single-Coil Tele pickups, controlled by a traditional three-position selector, master volume and master tone.

Does it come with a case?

A Fender Deluxe Gig Bag is included.

Is this a limited-edition model?

Yes. This is part of Fender's Limited Edition range and combines the Vintera II ’60s Telecaster concept with Fender's Road Worn treatment.

Fair Deal Music Verdict

★★★★★ 5/5

The Fender Limited Edition Vintera II Road Worn ’60s Telecaster is a particularly appealing Tele for players who love the appearance and feel of vintage Fender guitars but still want the reassurance and everyday usability of a new instrument.

The combination of Lake Placid Blue Road Worn nitrocellulose lacquer, slab rosewood fingerboard, vintage-style ’60s pickups and classic three-saddle bridge delivers bags of traditional Fender character, while the 9.5-inch radius and medium jumbo frets make it comfortable enough for modern playing styles.
