Orange PPC112 1x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet – Orange
Description
The Orange PPC112 1x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet delivers the construction, projection and unmistakable styling of Orange's larger professional cabinets in a more compact format.
Loaded with a 12-inch Celestion Vintage 30, the PPC112 provides the strong midrange presence, detailed top end and controlled low frequencies that have made the Vintage 30 a long-standing choice for rock, blues, alternative and heavier guitar tones.
The closed-back 18mm birch-ply enclosure is deliberately substantial for a 1x12, providing more internal volume than many compact cabinets and helping create a bigger, fuller response. Rated at 60 watts mono and 16 ohms, it is an excellent partner for a wide variety of compatible Orange amplifier heads.
For guitarists who want a serious cabinet without moving up to the size and weight of a 2x12 or 4x12, the PPC112 remains one of the most practical choices in the Orange range.

Why Choose The Orange PPC112?
Celestion Vintage 30 Speaker
At the heart of the PPC112 is a 12-inch Celestion Vintage 30, a speaker renowned for its pronounced midrange, strong projection and ability to remain articulate with both clean and heavily driven guitar tones.
Oversized 1x12 Enclosure
The PPC112 is larger internally than many compact 1x12 cabinets. That additional enclosure volume helps produce greater depth and low-frequency authority while retaining the portability advantages of a single-speaker cabinet.
Closed-Back Construction
A closed rear panel keeps the response focused and directional, with tighter lows than a typical open-back cabinet. This works particularly well for crunchy rhythm sounds, high-gain guitar and situations where controlled stage projection is important.
18mm Birch-Ply Build
Orange uses 18mm high-density birch plywood, giving the PPC112 a robust cabinet structure designed for regular studio, rehearsal and live use.
Expandable Cabinet Setup
Two parallel speaker connections allow the PPC112 to be linked with another compatible 16-ohm cabinet, producing an 8-ohm combined load when the connected amplifier supports it.
Orange PPC112 Compared With Popular Alternatives
Orange PPC112 vs PPC108
The PPC108 is significantly smaller and designed primarily for compact Micro-series practice rigs. The PPC112's full-size 12-inch Vintage 30 provides considerably greater projection, low-end depth and overall authority.
Orange PPC112 vs PPC212
The PPC212 doubles the speaker area and produces a larger, more physical stage sound. The PPC112 is much easier to transport and is better suited to players who want professional cabinet performance without the size and weight of a 2x12.
Orange PPC112 vs PPC212V
The PPC212V offers twin Neo Creambacks and a vertical open-back design for wider spread and increased speaker area. The PPC112 is the more compact option and offers the tighter response of a closed-back Vintage 30 cabinet.
Orange PPC112 vs An Open-Back 1x12
An open-back cabinet generally produces a wider, more room-filling sound. The closed-back PPC112 is better suited to players who prefer focused projection, tighter lows and a stronger sense of punch from the cabinet.

Is A 1x12 Guitar Cabinet Enough For Gigging?
A quality 1x12 cabinet can be more than capable for live use, particularly when paired with an appropriate amplifier and reinforced through a venue PA where required.
The PPC112's oversized enclosure and Vintage 30 speaker give it considerably more projection and authority than a miniature practice cabinet while keeping transport relatively straightforward.
For larger stages or players wanting more speaker movement, adding another compatible cabinet or stepping up to a 2x12 may be worthwhile.
Why Is The Celestion Vintage 30 So Popular?
The Vintage 30 has become one of the most widely used guitar speakers because its pronounced midrange helps electric guitar remain clearly defined in a full band mix.
It works particularly well with overdrive and high gain, where excessive bass can become loose and excessive treble can become harsh. Its focused response makes it a natural choice for rock-oriented cabinets such as the PPC112 while remaining versatile enough for clean and lower-gain playing.
Suitable Genres And Uses
Blues and blues-rock: Dynamic midrange response works well with edge-of-breakup valve tones and expressive lead playing.
Classic rock: The Vintage 30's strong mids complement crunchy rhythm sounds and sustaining lead tones.
Hard rock and metal: Closed-back construction provides a focused response that suits tight rhythm guitar and higher-gain amplification.
Alternative and indie: The PPC112 works well with fuzz, modulation, delay and larger pedalboard setups.
Recording: A single 12-inch speaker makes microphone placement straightforward while still providing the sound of a full-size guitar cabinet.
Story & Context
Orange's PPC cabinet family was developed around substantial birch-ply construction, carefully selected speakers and cabinet dimensions intended to maximise the performance of the company's amplifier heads.
The PPC112 takes the same general philosophy used in Orange's larger cabinets and applies it to a single-speaker format.
Rather than making the enclosure as small as possible, Orange gives the PPC112 generous internal volume and loads it with a Celestion Vintage 30. This helps explain why it has become such a natural partner for compact Orange heads: the amplifier may be small, but the cabinet is designed to produce a proper full-size guitar response.
Compatibility & Recommended Pairings
Orange OR15
The OR15 and PPC112 make a particularly strong compact all-valve rig, combining Orange's single-channel valve tone with a full-size Vintage 30 speaker.
Orange Terror Series
The 16-ohm PPC112 is a natural companion for compatible Orange Terror-series amplifier heads.
Orange TH30H
A PPC112 can create a compact cabinet setup for the TH30H when you want twin-channel valve amplification without transporting a larger 2x12.
Orange Pedal Baby 100
A 16-ohm PPC112 is also suitable for a compatible Pedal Baby 100 setup, providing a compact real-speaker solution for pedalboards and modelling rigs.
Second PPC112
Two compatible 16-ohm PPC112 cabinets connected in parallel create an 8-ohm total load.
Always confirm that your amplifier supports the resulting impedance before connecting multiple cabinets.

Power Requirements
The Orange PPC112 is a passive guitar speaker cabinet, so it requires no mains power, batteries or external power supply.
It must be connected to a compatible amplifier's speaker output using a dedicated speaker cable.
Key matching specifications are:
-
Impedance: 16Ω
-
Power handling: 60W mono
Always check the amplifier's speaker-output impedance and power requirements before connection.
Never use a standard guitar instrument cable between an amplifier head and passive speaker cabinet.
Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Orange PPC112 is an excellent cabinet for players who want the sound and construction of a proper professional Orange cab without committing to the physical size of a 2x12.
The Vintage 30, oversized closed-back enclosure and substantial birch-ply construction give it a bigger and more authoritative response than many compact 1x12 cabinets.
Best suited for: Guitarists wanting a compact but serious cabinet for valve, solid-state or pedal-platform rigs.
Main benefit: Full-size 12-inch cabinet performance in a manageable single-speaker format.
Value proposition: Premium Celestion speaker and substantial birch-ply construction in one of Orange's most practical cabinet sizes.
Standout feature: Celestion Vintage 30 housed in an oversized closed-back 18mm birch-ply enclosure.
Customers usually upgrade from: Small practice cabinets when they want greater projection, better low-end response and a professional-quality 12-inch speaker.
Most commonly paired with: OR15, compatible Terror-series heads, TH30H and other suitable 16-ohm amplifier setups.
Our tip: Cabinet choice has a major influence on the final guitar sound. If you're upgrading from a small speaker, moving to the PPC112 can make just as significant a difference as changing the amplifier itself.
Showroom feedback: The PPC112 is a great middle ground: compact enough for one person to transport easily, but substantial enough that it doesn't feel like a compromise once you start playing through it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Orange PPC112 suitable for valve amplifier heads?
Yes. It works very well with compatible valve heads, provided the amplifier's speaker output matches the PPC112's 16-ohm impedance and its output is appropriate for the cabinet.
Is a closed-back cabinet good for high gain?
Yes. Closed-back cabinets generally provide tighter low frequencies and more directional projection, which can work particularly well for driven rhythm guitar and high-gain sounds.
Can I use two PPC112 cabinets together?
Yes, when used with a compatible amplifier. Two 16-ohm PPC112 cabinets wired in parallel create an 8-ohm total load.
Can I use the PPC112 with another brand of amplifier?
Yes. It does not require an Orange amplifier. The important factors are correct speaker impedance and appropriate amplifier output.
Is the PPC112 suitable for recording?
Yes. Its single Vintage 30 provides a straightforward target for close microphone placement while the oversized cabinet delivers the response of a serious full-size enclosure.
Is the PPC112 easy to transport?
At 14.75kg it is considerably easier to transport than most 2x12 and 4x12 cabinets, while still using substantial 18mm birch-ply construction.
Should I choose a PPC112 or PPC212?
Choose the PPC112 if portability and compact dimensions are important. Choose a PPC212 if you want greater speaker area, projection and the physical response of two 12-inch drivers.
What speaker cable should I use?
Use a dedicated amplifier speaker cable with ¼-inch connections. Do not substitute a screened guitar instrument cable.
