Quality Used Pianos & Keyboards for Every Musician
Buying a used piano or keyboard can be one of the smartest ways to find a better instrument while making your budget go further. Pre-owned instruments often provide access to higher specifications, premium features and professional models for considerably less than the cost of buying new.
Our used piano and keyboard collection regularly includes digital pianos, portable keyboards, stage pianos, arranger keyboards, synthesizers, workstations, MIDI controllers and home keyboard packages from respected manufacturers such as Yamaha, Roland, Kawai, Casio, Nord, Korg, Kurzweil and many more.
Whether you are beginning piano lessons, progressing through graded examinations, upgrading your home instrument, performing live or developing a recording setup, our knowledgeable team can help you find the right instrument for your needs.
Why Buy a Used Piano or Keyboard?
A quality piano or keyboard is designed to provide many years of musical enjoyment. Choosing a pre-owned instrument can offer excellent performance, reliable build quality and valuable features at a more affordable price.
Make Your Budget Go Further
Buying used may allow you to choose a higher-quality instrument than your original budget would normally permit. This could mean improved piano sounds, a more realistic weighted keyboard, better speakers, stronger connectivity or additional performance and recording features.
Access Discontinued and Hard-to-Find Models
Musicians often search for particular keyboard actions, sounds, controls or features that are no longer available on current models. Our pre-owned collection can include discontinued digital pianos, classic synthesizers, earlier professional workstations and sought-after stage instruments that are difficult to find new.
An Excellent Choice for Beginners
A used digital piano or keyboard can be an affordable way to begin learning without compromising on the features that matter. Depending on the model, this may include touch-sensitive keys, weighted hammer action, built-in speakers, headphone connectivity, lesson functions and a suitable range of piano sounds.
Professional Performance for Less
For gigging musicians, producers and studio owners, buying pre-owned can provide access to professional stage pianos, synthesizers, arranger keyboards and workstations at a significantly lower price than their original selling price.
A More Sustainable Way to Buy
Choosing a pre-owned musical instrument helps extend its useful life and reduces unnecessary waste. It is a practical and environmentally responsible choice that allows a quality instrument to continue making music for years to come.
Every Used Instrument Is Individually Assessed
We understand that confidence is especially important when buying a used piano or keyboard online.
Before an instrument is offered for sale, it is individually assessed by our experienced team. We check its general operation, controls, keys, sounds and overall condition to help ensure that the product accurately matches its listing.
Where appropriate, we clearly describe visible cosmetic marks, signs of previous use and any important information relating to the instrument. Product photographs are provided to help you make an informed choice before ordering.
Our goal is to make buying a pre-owned musical instrument straightforward, transparent and reassuring.
Find the Right Used Piano or Keyboard
Used Digital Pianos
Digital pianos are ideal for players who want a realistic piano experience with practical modern features. Many models include fully weighted keys, expressive piano sounds, built-in speakers, headphone outputs and recording or connectivity options.
They are particularly well suited to home practice, piano lessons, graded examinations, schools, churches and musicians who want the feel of an acoustic piano without the tuning and maintenance requirements.
Used Stage Pianos
Stage pianos are designed for musicians who perform live, rehearse regularly or need a professional keyboard for studio use. They typically combine high-quality piano and electric piano sounds with performance controls, strong connectivity and a more portable design than a traditional home digital piano.
Used Portable Keyboards
Portable keyboards can be a great choice for beginners, families and musicians who want an easy-to-use instrument with a wide selection of sounds, rhythms and learning features. Many are lightweight enough to move between rooms, lessons and rehearsals.
Used Arranger Keyboards
Arranger keyboards provide automatic accompaniments, backing styles, song controls and a broad range of instrument sounds. They are popular with solo performers, entertainers, songwriters and home musicians who enjoy creating complete musical arrangements.
Used Synthesizers
Synthesizers allow musicians to create, shape and perform a huge variety of electronic sounds. Our used collection may include analogue, digital, virtual analogue and performance synthesizers suitable for live music, sound design, electronic production and studio recording.
Used Workstation Keyboards
Keyboard workstations combine performance sounds with sequencing, arranging, sampling or music-production features. They can be an excellent all-in-one solution for songwriters, producers, composers and professional performers.

Choosing the Right Used Piano or Keyboard
The best instrument for you will depend on how and where you plan to use it.
For Learning Piano
Look for touch-sensitive keys and, where possible, a fully weighted hammer-action keyboard. An 88-note weighted digital piano will usually provide the most suitable foundation for traditional piano lessons and graded examinations.
For Home Practice
Consider the available space, built-in speaker quality, headphone connectivity and whether you prefer a portable instrument or a furniture-style cabinet design.
For Live Performance
Prioritise portability, reliable controls, suitable audio outputs, quick access to sounds and any required split, layer or MIDI functions.
For Music Production
Check the instrument’s USB, MIDI and audio connectivity, as well as the range of sounds, controllers and integration options available for your preferred recording software.
For Entertainment and Arranging
An arranger keyboard with backing styles, accompaniment controls, song functions and a wide variety of sounds may be the strongest choice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are your used pianos and keyboards inspected?
Yes. Every pre-owned piano and keyboard is individually assessed by our experienced team before being offered for sale. We check its general operation, keys, controls, sounds and overall condition to help ensure that it matches the information provided in the listing.
Will I receive the exact instrument shown in the photographs?
Used instruments are normally individually photographed, meaning the images generally show the actual product being offered for sale. Please check the individual listing carefully for full details or contact our team if you would like any additional information.
How do you describe the condition of a used instrument?
Each used product listing aims to provide an honest description of the instrument’s cosmetic appearance, general condition and any notable signs of previous use. Product photographs are also provided so you can review the instrument before purchasing.
Do used pianos and keyboards come with a manufacturer’s warranty?
Pre-owned instruments do not normally include the original manufacturer’s warranty unless specifically stated. However, every instrument is assessed before sale, and our team is available to help if you experience a problem after your purchase. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
Can I part exchange my current piano or keyboard?
Yes. Fair Deal Music welcomes part exchange enquiries on many pianos, keyboards and other musical instruments. Acceptance and valuation will depend on the model, age, condition and current demand.
Do you buy used pianos and keyboards?
Yes. We are interested in purchasing selected used pianos, keyboards, synthesizers, stage pianos and workstations. Please contact our team with the make, model, age, condition and photographs of your instrument.
How often is the used collection updated?
Our used piano and keyboard stock changes regularly as instruments are sold, traded in or purchased. Many products are one-off items, so it is worth checking the collection frequently if you are looking for a particular model.
Can I finance a used piano or keyboard?
Finance may be available on selected qualifying instruments. Availability depends on the product price, eligibility and current finance terms.
What type of keyboard is best for a beginner?
For traditional piano lessons, a digital piano with touch-sensitive, fully weighted keys is normally the strongest choice. For younger beginners, casual playing or those requiring additional sounds and rhythms, a portable keyboard may be more suitable.
Should I choose a digital piano or a keyboard?
A digital piano is generally designed to provide a more realistic acoustic-piano playing experience, often with 88 weighted keys and piano-focused sounds. A portable keyboard is usually lighter and may offer more instrument voices, rhythms and learning features.
Can I visit your Birmingham store to try an instrument?
Selected used pianos and keyboards may be available to view and demonstrate in our Birmingham store. Because used stock can sell quickly or may be stored in different areas, please contact us before travelling to confirm availability.
