This 2006 Fender MF/GC FSR Deluxe Players Stratocaster in Sienna Sunburst is a distinctive retailer-exclusive variation of Fender’s Mexican-made Deluxe Players Strat, combining traditional Stratocaster styling with upgraded electronics, an ash body and premium gold hardware.

The Deluxe Players Strat sits above the regular Mexican Standard models of the period, featuring three Fender Vintage Noiseless single-coil pickups, a flatter 12" fingerboard radius and an additional push/push switch that expands the conventional 5-way selector into a versatile 7-way pickup system.

This Musician’s Friend / Guitar Center Factory Special Run is finished in Sienna Sunburst with a maple fingerboard, giving it a particularly attractive appearance over the naturally figured ash body.

This Pre-Owned example is in Very Good condition, weighs 8.9 lbs, carries serial number MZ5086995, and is supplied without a case.

FACTORY SPECIAL RUN – MF/GC

This guitar is identified as an MF/GC FSR, meaning it was produced as a Factory Special Run for Musician’s Friend / Guitar Center rather than as one of the standard catalogue colour combinations.

The Sienna Sunburst finish distinguishes it from the regular Deluxe Players Stratocaster colours commonly offered during this period.

FSR instruments are generally produced in more limited quantities than standard catalogue models, giving examples like this additional appeal to Fender enthusiasts looking for less common specifications.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

The Deluxe Players Strat is a particularly useful evolution of the classic Stratocaster formula.

The Vintage Noiseless pickups provide familiar Strat clarity and sparkle while greatly reducing the background hum normally associated with conventional single coils.

The additional pickup switch also unlocks combinations unavailable on a normal Strat, making this a significantly more flexible instrument without compromising the traditional control layout.

The ash body, Sienna Sunburst finish and gold hardware give this FSR version a noticeably more premium appearance than a standard Mexican Stratocaster of the same era.

DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS

Ash Body

The Deluxe Players Stratocaster uses an ash body, a feature more commonly associated with selected premium and vintage-inspired Fender instruments.

Ash is known for strong articulation and a clear, lively response.

The transparent Sienna Sunburst finish also allows the natural grain to remain visible.

Sienna Sunburst FSR Finish

This example is finished in Sienna Sunburst, giving it a richer and warmer appearance than a conventional 3-Color Sunburst.

As an MF/GC Factory Special Run, this colour helps distinguish the guitar from regular Deluxe Players Strat production.

Maple Neck

The bolt-on maple neck provides the familiar attack and direct feel associated with traditional Fender construction.

Maple Fingerboard

The maple fingerboard complements the Sienna Sunburst finish visually while providing a smooth and immediate playing response.

Modern Neck Profile

The Deluxe Players Strat uses a comfortable modern-style neck profile suitable for a wide variety of playing techniques.

12" Fingerboard Radius

The 12" radius is considerably flatter than the traditional vintage Fender 7.25" radius.

This makes bends and higher-action lead work particularly comfortable.

21 Medium-Jumbo Frets

The 21 medium-jumbo frets provide more substantial fret wire than a traditional vintage Strat, making bends and vibrato easier.

25.5" Scale Length

The traditional 25.5" Fender scale length provides strong articulation, clear attack and familiar Stratocaster string tension.

FENDER VINTAGE NOISELESS PICKUPS

The guitar is fitted with three Fender Vintage Noiseless Stratocaster pickups.

These are designed to retain the clarity and sparkle associated with classic Strat single coils while substantially reducing the mains hum that accompanies conventional single-coil designs.

The pickup positions provide:

• Bright, cutting bridge tones

• Quacky bridge/middle combinations

• Clear middle pickup sounds

• Hollow neck/middle textures

• Warm, rounded neck tones

7-WAY PICKUP SWITCHING

One of the defining features of the Deluxe Players Strat is its expanded pickup system.

A conventional Stratocaster 5-way selector provides the familiar five settings.

The additional push/push switch allows extra pickup combinations unavailable on a standard Strat.

These include combinations such as:

• Neck + Bridge

• Neck + Middle + Bridge

This gives the guitar seven useful pickup configurations in total.

The neck-plus-bridge setting is particularly useful for players looking for a fuller, more Telecaster-like combined pickup sound.

VINTAGE-STYLE SYNCHRONIZED TREMOLO

The guitar uses a traditional Fender-style synchronized tremolo system.

This allows expressive pitch movement while retaining the familiar appearance and playing feel of a classic Stratocaster bridge.

GOLD HARDWARE

The gold-plated hardware is one of the visual signatures of the Deluxe Players Stratocaster.

Combined with the Sienna Sunburst finish and ash body, it gives this FSR model a more premium appearance than a conventional Standard Strat.

HOW IT COMPARES

Deluxe Players Strat vs Standard Mexican Strat

The Deluxe Players model adds an ash body, Vintage Noiseless pickups, flatter 12" radius, expanded switching and gold hardware.

This makes it a noticeably higher-spec instrument than the standard Mexican Stratocaster of the same period.

Vintage Noiseless vs Conventional Single Coils

Conventional Strat pickups provide the classic single-coil sound but can produce noticeable electrical hum.

Vintage Noiseless pickups are designed to retain much of that characteristic response while significantly reducing unwanted noise.

7-Way vs Standard 5-Way Switching

A traditional Strat provides five pickup combinations.

The Deluxe Players circuitry adds useful neck/bridge and all-three-pickup combinations, increasing the available tonal range.

FSR vs Standard Production

This MF/GC FSR Sienna Sunburst variation was produced specifically for a major retailer rather than as one of the standard catalogue finishes.

That makes it a less commonly encountered version of the Deluxe Players Stratocaster.

FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★

Best suited for: Strat players who want familiar Fender tones with reduced hum, broader pickup switching and a more premium specification than a standard Mexican Stratocaster.

Customers usually upgrade from: Mexican Standard Stratocasters, Squier Classic Vibe models and conventional three-single-coil guitars.

Most commonly paired with: Valve amplifiers, compression, overdrive, boost, chorus, delay and reverb.

Our tip: Make use of the extra neck-and-bridge setting. It is one of the most useful additions to the Deluxe Players circuit and gives a fuller combined-pickup tone that a standard Strat cannot produce.

Showroom feedback: The Deluxe Players Strat has always been one of the more interesting Mexican Fender specifications. The Vintage Noiseless pickups and expanded switching make it genuinely practical, while the Sienna Sunburst, ash body and gold hardware give this FSR example a particularly premium appearance.
