The 2022 Fender Made in Japan Limited Stratocaster with Floyd Rose in 3-Colour Sunburst takes the familiar Stratocaster platform and gives it a distinctly performance-focused specification.

Based around Fender Japan’s Hybrid II platform, this Limited Edition model pairs a classic alder Stratocaster body and Modern “C” maple neck with an HSS pickup configuration and a recessed Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo. Hybrid II Custom Voiced single coils handle the neck and middle positions, while a more powerful Dragster BB humbucker in the bridge adds extra output for rock, hard rock and heavier playing.

This Pre-Owned example is in Very Good condition, weighs an actual 7.64 lbs, carries serial number JD22007554, and includes a gigbag.

The Floyd Rose tremolo arm is also included, although it is not shown in the product photographs.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

This Limited Edition Stratocaster keeps much of the familiar look and feel of a traditional Fender while adding features aimed directly at players who want heavier tones and more aggressive tremolo use.

The neck and middle single coils retain the clarity, sparkle and in-between tones expected from a Stratocaster, while the Dragster BB bridge humbucker provides a thicker and more powerful response for driven rhythm and lead playing.

The recessed Floyd Rose Special is the feature that really separates this model from a conventional Strat. It allows substantial upward and downward pitch movement while the locking nut helps maintain tuning stability during more extreme tremolo techniques.

DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS

Alder Body

The alder body keeps the core construction closely connected to traditional Fender Stratocaster design, providing a balanced foundation with clear mids and a familiar response across clean and driven sounds.

Modern “C” Maple Neck

The maple neck uses Fender’s comfortable Modern “C” profile, providing a familiar feel that works well for rhythm playing, bends and faster lead work without becoming excessively thin.

10" Rosewood Fingerboard

The rosewood fingerboard uses a 10" radius, giving this Limited Edition model a flatter feel than a vintage-radius Stratocaster while remaining comfortable for chords and general playing.

22 Narrow Tall Frets

Twenty-two Narrow Tall frets provide additional fret height without becoming excessively wide, helping bends and vibrato feel smooth while maintaining accurate note definition.

Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single Coils

The neck and middle positions use Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single-Coil Stratocaster pickups, providing the bright, articulate response and characteristic in-between tones expected from an S-style guitar.

Dragster BB Bridge Humbucker

The bridge position is fitted with a Dragster BB humbucker, giving the guitar greater output and a thicker response for rock, hard rock and higher-gain playing.

HSS Versatility

The HSS configuration makes this guitar particularly versatile. You retain traditional-style single-coil tones in the neck and middle positions while gaining the fuller response of a humbucker at the bridge.

Recessed Floyd Rose Special

The Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo is recessed into the body, allowing both downward dives and upward pitch movement. Combined with the locking nut, it provides significantly greater tremolo capability than a conventional Stratocaster bridge.

7.64 lbs Actual Weight

This individual guitar weighs 7.64 lbs, giving buyers an accurate indication of how this particular example will feel on a strap.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The Fender Made in Japan Limited Stratocaster with Floyd Rose is particularly well suited to rock, hard rock, metal, fusion and technically focused players who want genuine Fender construction with a more aggressive bridge pickup and locking tremolo system.

It is also an excellent option for traditional Stratocaster players who want to expand into heavier sounds without losing the familiar neck and middle single-coil tones.

PLAYING STYLES & APPLICATIONS

This model works exceptionally well for rock, hard rock, metal, alternative, fusion, pop, blues and modern lead playing.

The neck and middle pickups provide articulate cleans and classic in-between Strat-style tones, while the Dragster BB bridge humbucker delivers the additional power needed for thicker rhythm sounds and high-gain lead work.

The Floyd Rose also makes the guitar particularly capable for dive bombs, harmonic effects, flutters and expressive pitch manipulation.

HOW IT COMPARES

Limited Floyd Rose Stratocaster vs Traditional Stratocaster

A conventional Stratocaster normally uses three single-coil pickups and a traditional synchronized tremolo. This Limited Edition version adds a bridge humbucker, locking nut and recessed Floyd Rose for heavier tones and more extreme tremolo use.

HSS vs SSS Stratocaster

An SSS Stratocaster prioritises traditional single-coil sounds across all three positions. The HSS layout retains those sounds in the neck and middle while adding a thicker, higher-output bridge pickup.

Floyd Rose vs Traditional Fender Tremolo

A traditional Fender tremolo is simpler to restring and adjust, while the Floyd Rose provides greater tuning stability under aggressive tremolo use and allows a wider range of pitch movement.

FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★

Best suited for: Players who want genuine Japanese Fender build quality with an HSS pickup configuration and the tuning stability and expressive range of a Floyd Rose.

Customers usually upgrade from: Standard Stratocasters, Player-series Fenders and entry-level HSS or locking-tremolo guitars.

Most commonly paired with: Valve or modelling amplifiers, overdrive, distortion, noise gates, delay and modulation effects.

Our tip: Floyd Rose-equipped guitars work best when kept on a consistent tuning and string gauge. Once correctly balanced and locked, the system provides excellent stability for aggressive tremolo work.

Showroom feedback: This model successfully combines traditional Fender styling with a much more performance-focused specification. At 7.64 lbs, this example also remains comfortably manageable despite the additional Floyd Rose hardware.
