The DOD Drag Analog Delay is a feature-packed BBD delay pedal built for players who want classic warm analogue repeats combined with much more experimental real-time control.

At its core is a fully analogue bucket-brigade delay engine with up to 750ms of delay time, covering everything from quick slapback and rhythmic echoes to long, drifting repeats and psychedelic self-oscillation.

Where the Drag really separates itself from a conventional analogue delay is its Friction system. Hold the footswitch and you can trigger dramatic SlideStop, Rubberneck and Evade effects that manipulate the delay time for tape-stop-style slowdowns, octave pitch bends and abrupt braking-and-accelerating textures.

What Makes The DOD Drag Special?

You can use it as a conventional analogue delay for slapback, rhythmic echoes and atmospheric repeats, then hold the footswitch to manipulate the delay time in real time.

BBD delay is known for repeats that gradually become darker and softer as they regenerate, producing a warmer and more organic response than pristine digital delay.

Six Main Controls

Time

Adjusts the basic delay time.

Short settings create tight slapback and doubling effects, while longer settings produce spacious rhythmic and atmospheric echoes.

Feedback

Controls how many repeats are generated.

Lower settings give a small number of echoes, while higher settings create longer trails and eventually push the pedal into self-oscillation.

Filter

Adjusts the low-pass filtering applied to the delay repeats.

Turn it down for darker, warmer echoes or increase it for brighter and more defined repeats.

Level

Controls the volume of the delayed signal relative to your dry sound.

Drift

Controls the intensity and behaviour of the modulation applied to the delay.

Three modulation ranges—Light, Medium and Heavy—let you move from subtle analogue movement to much more pronounced pitch modulation.

Friction

Controls the onset and recovery speed of the Drag's real-time delay-warping effects.

Lower settings create slower transitions, while higher settings produce faster and more abrupt pitch movement.

Four Modulation Waveforms

The Drag gives you four different modulation shapes:

Sine

Smooth, flowing modulation suited to classic analogue chorus-like delay movement.

Reverse Saw

Creates a more directional sweeping effect with a distinctive rising-and-resetting character.

Square

Produces abrupt modulation changes for more obvious pitch movement.

Random

Introduces unpredictable variation for drifting, unstable and experimental textures.

Combined with the Light, Medium and Heavy Drift ranges, these waveforms give the Drag a broad modulation palette.

SlideStop

SlideStop is one of the Drag's new Friction effects.

Hold the footswitch and the delay time begins to slow dramatically, producing a sound similar to braking a tape machine or slowing a record.

Two variations are available:

• Shallow Slide

• Deep Slide

Release the footswitch and the delay accelerates back towards its original setting.

The Friction control determines how quickly the effect slows down and recovers.

Rubberneck

The Drag also inherits the famous Rubberneck concept from the larger DOD Rubberneck Analog Delay.

Rubberneck dynamically stretches or compresses the delay time to create dramatic pitch bending.

Available behaviour includes:

• Octave Up Bend

• Octave Down Bend

Hold the footswitch to trigger the bend, then release it to return to the original delay setting.

This is especially effective for transitions, psychedelic textures and live performance effects.

Evade

Evade introduces another style of delay-time manipulation.

Its two variations are:

• HopStop Slide

• Slide-n-Go

These settings create rapid braking, shifting and acceleration effects that push the analogue delay engine far beyond standard delay operation.

Combined with the Friction control, Evade can move from relatively controlled time manipulation to extreme pitch-warping effects.

Self-Oscillation

Turn the Feedback control high enough and the Drag enters the runaway feedback behaviour associated with classic analogue delays.

Buffered Bypass With Tails

The dry signal remains buffered and existing delay repeats continue naturally after bypassing the effect.

Buffered Bypass With Tails & Dry Kill

This mode adds Dry Kill operation alongside delay tails for more specialised routing and effect applications.

Optional FS3X Footswitch Control

A dedicated 3.5mm control input allows the Drag to connect to an optional DigiTech FS3X three-button footswitch.
