What Makes The EarthQuaker Devices Silos Special?

Silos brings together three generations of delay sound without requiring multiple pedals.

Digital mode delivers clear, strong repeats. Analog mode is darker and more mid-focused, with repeats that degrade quickly as they regenerate. Tape mode introduces a warmer, atmospheric character inspired by vintage tape echo with a touch of oil-can-style flavour.

Add tap tempo, six presets and expression control, and Silos offers much more flexibility than its straightforward three-knob layout suggests.

Three Delay Modes

Digital Delay

Digital mode produces bright, defined repeats that retain clarity as they decay.

Short delay times work well for tight, stuttering echoes, while longer settings create clean rhythmic delay and spacious ambience.

Analog Delay

Analog mode produces darker, more mid-focused repeats that progressively lose definition as they regenerate.

It works particularly well with overdrive and distortion, creating warm delay textures without excessive bass or harsh top end.

At higher Repeats settings, this mode can move into self-oscillation.

Tape Delay

Tape mode recreates the darker, atmospheric quality associated with well-used tape echo systems.

It works particularly well for vintage-style ambience, psychedelic sounds and warm rhythmic repeats.

Higher Repeats settings can also push Tape mode into self-oscillation.

Tap Tempo

The dedicated Tap Tempo footswitch lets you match the delay to the tempo of your music without adjusting the Time control manually.

This makes Silos particularly useful on stage, where different songs may require completely different delay times.

Six User Presets

Silos provides six preset slots for storing favourite delay sounds.

Each preset can save:

  • Time
  • Repeats
  • Mix
  • Delay Mode
  • Expression assignment

This allows you to store everything from quick slapback and warm tape echo to long rhythmic digital delays and self-oscillating analogue textures.

Silos can operate in Live Mode for direct control from the knobs or Preset Mode for recalling saved sounds.

Assignable Expression Control

A compatible TRS expression pedal can be assigned to:

  • Time
  • Repeats
  • Mix

This adds real-time control for creative performance effects.

You can sweep delay time, bring repeats towards self-oscillation or fade the wet effect in and out while playing.

Different expression assignments can also be saved within individual presets.

Buffered Bypass With Trails

Silos uses buffered bypass with trails, allowing the existing delay repeats to decay naturally when the pedal is bypassed.

This prevents long echoes from being cut off abruptly when switching the effect off.

Because the pedal uses active buffered bypass, power is required for signal to pass through the unit.

Who Is It For?

The EarthQuaker Devices Silos is ideal for players who want several classic delay sounds without a complicated menu system.

It is particularly well suited to:

  • Rock
  • Indie
  • Alternative
  • Ambient
  • Post-rock
  • Psychedelic music
  • Blues
  • Worship
  • Lead guitar
  • Clean rhythm guitar
  • Pedalboards using overdrive and distortion
  • Studio recording
  • Live performance

Why Choose A Multi-Mode Delay Pedal?

Different delay types work well in different musical situations.

A clean digital delay is excellent for defined rhythmic repeats, while analogue-style delay works particularly well when you want darker echoes to sit behind your dry signal. Tape-style delay offers a softer and more atmospheric character.

Silos gives you all three approaches in one compact pedal, while presets and tap tempo make it practical to use several different sounds during the same performance.

How It Compares

Silos vs A Traditional Digital Delay

A basic digital delay usually focuses on clean and precise repeats.

Silos adds darker Analog and Tape modes, making it much more flexible for players who regularly move between modern and vintage-style delay tones.

Silos vs EarthQuaker Devices Dispatch Master

The Dispatch Master combines delay and reverb in a very simple format.

Silos focuses entirely on delay but adds three different voices, tap tempo, presets and expression control.

Choose Dispatch Master when integrated reverb is important; choose Silos when you want deeper delay control.

Silos vs EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run V2

The Avalanche Run V2 is a more advanced stereo delay and reverb pedal with Reverse and Swell modes.

Silos is simpler and more compact, with a strong focus on Digital, Analog and Tape delay sounds plus preset recall.
