Ernie Ball Instrument Care 3-Pack with Microfibre Polish Cloth
Keep your guitar or bass looking, feeling and performing at its best with the Ernie Ball Instrument Care 3-Pack. This convenient maintenance kit brings together three essential cleaning products for your instrument’s strings, fretboard and body, along with a soft microfibre cloth for controlled application and polishing.
Whether you are carrying out a complete clean during a string change or giving your instrument a quick refresh before a performance, the kit provides a straightforward way to remove everyday dirt, fingerprints, grime and moisture. Each product has a dedicated purpose, helping you care for the different surfaces of your instrument without relying on one general-purpose cleaner.
Why Choose the Ernie Ball Instrument Care 3-Pack?
Regular cleaning can help your instrument remain comfortable to play while keeping its finish, fretboard and strings in better condition. This Ernie Ball kit gives players the main products needed for routine maintenance in one affordable package.
The string cleaner removes accumulated dirt and corrosive residue while leaving the strings feeling smoother. The fretboard conditioner cleans and moisturises unfinished fingerboards, while the instrument polish tackles fingerprints, haze and surface grime on compatible finishes.
A reusable microfibre polishing cloth is also included, making the kit ready to use without requiring a separate cloth or applicator.

Three Essential Steps for Better Instrument Care
Clean and Protect Your Strings
Strings naturally collect sweat, oils, dust and grime during playing. Over time, this build-up can make them feel rough and contribute to corrosion.
Ernie Ball String Cleaner uses a lubricating cleaning formula to remove residue from the strings. Applying it after playing can help maintain a cleaner feel and preserve useful string life, particularly for musicians who perform regularly or naturally perspire while playing.
Clean and Condition the Fretboard
The included fretboard conditioner uses a blend of orange, jojoba and linseed oils to lift dirt while moisturising suitable unfinished fretboards.
It is particularly useful during a string change, when the full fingerboard is accessible. Apply a small amount, work it into the surface and remove any excess rather than heavily soaking the wood.
Fretboard conditioner should not be applied to finished or lacquered fingerboards unless the instrument manufacturer confirms that an oil-based conditioner is suitable.
Polish the Instrument Body
The instrument polish is designed to remove fingerprints, haze, light dirt and handling marks from compatible instrument finishes. Apply the product to the cloth rather than spraying directly onto the instrument, then gently polish the surface using controlled circular movements.
Because nitrocellulose formulas and other specialist finishes can vary, test the polish on a small, inconspicuous area before treating the complete instrument.
Who Is the Ernie Ball Instrument Care Kit For?
This kit is a practical choice for:
-
Electric guitar players
-
Acoustic guitar players
-
Bass guitarists
-
Gigging and touring musicians
-
Players maintaining several instruments
-
Beginners building their first maintenance kit
-

-
Musicians looking for a useful guitar-related gift
Its compact format also makes it easy to store in a guitar maintenance drawer, workshop area or larger accessory case.
Ernie Ball Instrument Care Kit vs Other Cleaning Options
Compared with Individual Cleaning Products
Buying separate string, fretboard and body products allows you to choose specialist formulas individually, but this kit is more convenient for players who need a complete routine-care package without assembling one product at a time.
Compared with Disposable Instrument Wipes
Individually sealed wipes are compact and convenient for occasional use or touring. The bottled products in this kit are better suited to repeated maintenance sessions and give you greater control over how much solution is applied.
Compared with an All-in-One Guitar Cleaner
A general cleaner can be useful for quick body maintenance, but it does not replace a dedicated string cleaner or fretboard conditioner. The Ernie Ball kit treats each area of the instrument with a product created for that particular job.
Compared with a Full Guitar Tool Kit
This package focuses specifically on cleaning and conditioning. Players who also need cutters, screwdrivers, hex keys, measuring tools and a string winder should consider a complete guitar maintenance toolkit instead.
How Often Should You Clean Your Guitar or Bass?
A dry cloth can be used after each playing session to remove fresh fingerprints and perspiration. String cleaner can also be applied regularly, particularly after rehearsals or performances.
A more thorough body clean is usually best carried out when visible marks begin to build up. Fretboard conditioner should be used less frequently and only when the fingerboard requires cleaning or begins to look dry. Avoid excessive application, as unfinished wood only needs a light treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this kit on both electric and acoustic guitars?
Yes. The kit can be used for routine care of compatible electric and acoustic guitars. Always consider the instrument’s fretboard material and finish before applying a cleaning product.
Can the string cleaner be used without removing the strings?
Yes. The string cleaner is designed for regular use while the strings are fitted. Apply it carefully and remove excess product with a clean section of cloth.
Which fretboards can be conditioned?
Fretboard conditioner is intended for compatible unfinished fingerboards such as many rosewood and ebony boards. Do not apply it to finished maple fingerboards or unfamiliar materials without checking the instrument manufacturer’s care guidance.
Is the polish safe for nitrocellulose finishes?
Nitrocellulose finishes can vary. Test the polish on a small, hidden area before treating the entire instrument. For valuable vintage or specialist-finish instruments, consult the manufacturer or an experienced technician first.
Should I spray the polish directly onto my guitar?
Applying the polish to the microfibre cloth gives you better control and reduces the risk of liquid collecting around pickups, hardware, controls or unfinished areas.
Will string cleaner make old strings sound new again?
It can remove dirt and improve the feel of strings that are still in usable condition, but it cannot reverse corrosion, flattened windings or normal metal fatigue. Heavily worn strings should be replaced.
Can I use the same part of the cloth for every product?
Using separate areas of the cloth helps prevent fretboard conditioner, string residue and body polish from being transferred between surfaces. For the best results, keep one section for polishing and another for string cleaning.
Is this suitable as a gift for a guitarist?
Yes. It is a useful, practical gift for guitarists and bassists of almost any playing level, especially players who have recently purchased a new instrument.
