Gretsch G2420 Streamliner Hollow Body Aged Brooklyn Burst, (Used)
Description
The Gretsch G2420 Streamliner Hollow Body with Chromatic II Tailpiece in Aged Brooklyn Burst combines classic big-body Gretsch styling with a versatile modern pickup system and a straightforward fixed-tailpiece design.
Its fully hollow laminated maple body delivers the open resonance and acoustic character associated with a traditional hollow-body electric, while a pair of Broad’Tron BT-3S humbuckers provide a fuller, more powerful response suited to everything from clean rhythm work and blues through rock and more driven sounds.
A comfortable nato neck, laurel fingerboard and traditional 24.75" scale keep the playing feel familiar, while the Chromatic II tailpiece gives the guitar a distinctive Gretsch appearance without the additional setup considerations of a vibrato system.
This Pre-Owned example is in Very Good condition, weighs an actual 6.92 lbs and is supplied without a case.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
The G2420 Streamliner delivers the large, resonant feel of a genuine hollow-body electric without restricting you to purely vintage or low-output guitar sounds.
The Broad’Tron BT-3S pickups provide enough output and midrange presence for driven rock tones while retaining the clarity needed for clean rhythm work, blues and more traditional hollow-body styles. The push/pull coil split expands the tonal range further by introducing leaner, brighter sounds alongside the full humbucker voices.
At 6.92 lbs, this particular example is also relatively light for a full-size hollow-body guitar, making it appealing for longer rehearsals and live sets.
DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS
Fully Hollow Laminated Maple Body
The G2420 uses a fully hollow laminated maple body with an arched top and back. This gives the guitar an open, resonant response with more natural acoustic character than a solid-body or center-block instrument.
Parallel Tone-Bar Bracing
Internal parallel tone bars help support the large hollow body while contributing to the guitar's resonant character and traditional big-body response.
Aged Brooklyn Burst Finish
The Aged Brooklyn Burst finish gives the G2420 a warm vintage-inspired appearance, with darker outer edges transitioning into a lighter centre that complements the traditional Gretsch body shape.
Nato Neck
The set nato neck uses a comfortable Soft "C" profile, providing a familiar feel for chord work, rhythm playing and lead lines without becoming excessively bulky.
Laurel Fingerboard
The laurel fingerboard has a 12" radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets, creating a versatile playing surface that works equally well for chords, bends and lead playing.
Broad’Tron BT-3S Pickups
Two Broad’Tron BT-3S humbuckers provide a stronger, fuller voice than more traditional low-output Gretsch pickups. They offer tight lows, clear highs and enough midrange presence for overdriven rock while remaining articulate at cleaner settings.
Push/Pull Coil Split
The Master Volume incorporates a push/pull coil-split function, allowing the Broad’Tron pickups to produce brighter, leaner tones in addition to their standard humbucker sounds.
Flexible Gretsch Controls
Individual neck and bridge pickup Volume controls allow each pickup to be balanced independently, while Master Volume and Master Tone controls make overall adjustments quick and intuitive.
Chromatic II Tailpiece
The Chromatic II tailpiece gives the G2420 a distinctive Gretsch appearance while retaining the simplicity and tuning stability of a fixed-tailpiece design.
6.92 lbs Actual Weight
This individual guitar weighs 6.92 lbs, providing a precise indication of how this particular example will feel on a strap.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Gretsch G2420 Streamliner is particularly well suited to blues, rock, indie, rockabilly, jazz, country, roots and alternative players who want the resonance and feel of a full hollow body with enough output for more contemporary styles.
It is also a strong choice for players moving from a solid-body guitar who want something more acoustically responsive without immediately moving into higher-priced professional Gretsch models.
PLAYING STYLES & APPLICATIONS
The G2420 works particularly well for blues, classic rock, indie, rockabilly, country, jazz, pop, roots and atmospheric guitar styles.
The neck pickup provides a warmer response for blues, jazzier passages and clean lead work, while the bridge pickup offers more attack for rhythm and overdriven sounds.
The coil split also adds brighter tones that can work especially well for clean rhythm parts and layered recording.
HOW IT COMPARES
Gretsch G2420 vs G2622 Center Block
The G2420 is fully hollow, giving it a more open and resonant character. The G2622 uses a center block, providing greater sustain and improved feedback resistance at higher gain and stage volume.
G2420 Chromatic II vs G2420T Bigsby
The G2420 with Chromatic II tailpiece uses a fixed tailpiece for simpler operation and tuning stability. The G2420T adds a Bigsby vibrato for expressive pitch movement.
Gretsch Streamliner vs Electromatic
Gretsch Electromatic models generally move further up the range with upgraded specifications and more premium appointments. The Streamliner series focuses on delivering the essential Gretsch look, feel and sound at a more accessible price point.

FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★
Best suited for: Players wanting genuine full hollow-body resonance, classic Gretsch styling and versatile humbucker tones without moving into a significantly more expensive model.
Customers usually upgrade from: Entry-level hollow-body guitars, solid-body electrics and lower-cost vintage-style instruments.
Most commonly paired with: Clean and edge-of-breakup valve amplifiers, overdrive, tremolo, delay and reverb effects.
Our tip: Fully hollow guitars naturally interact more strongly with loud amplifiers than center-block designs. That can create fantastic musical resonance, but positioning yourself carefully in relation to the amp will help control unwanted feedback at higher gain.
Showroom feedback: At 6.92 lbs, this G2420 feels particularly manageable for a full-size hollow-body guitar, while the Broad’Tron pickups and coil split give it enough versatility to move well beyond purely vintage styles.
