Description
Ibanez AS7328 Baritone Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar, Tobacco Brown – New
Quick Product Summary
The Ibanez AS7328 brings baritone depth to the classic double-cut semi-hollow format, combining a 28-inch scale length, B-to-B factory tuning, twin Classic Elite humbuckers and the warm, resonant character of Ibanez's Artcore construction. Finished in sophisticated Tobacco Brown, it is an unusual and highly versatile choice for players who want extended low-end range without moving to a seven-string guitar.
Ibanez AS7328 Baritone Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar
The Ibanez AS7328 takes the familiar proportions and character of the AS semi-hollow platform and pushes them into a much lower register. Its extended 711mm / 28-inch scale provides the tension required for convincing baritone tuning, while the semi-hollow linden construction adds resonance, openness and harmonic complexity that can be difficult to achieve from a conventional solid-body baritone.
Rather than simply being built for extreme styles, the AS7328 is capable of moving between atmospheric clean sounds, blues, alternative rock, cinematic textures, jazz-inspired playing and huge overdriven rhythm tones. The combination of its baritone range and traditional semi-hollow layout gives it a distinctive musical identity.
Why Choose the Ibanez AS7328?
True Baritone Range
The 28-inch scale and factory B-to-B tuning extend the guitar significantly below standard tuning while retaining familiar six-string chord shapes and playing techniques. It is an excellent way to access deeper registers without changing to a seven-string instrument.
Semi-Hollow Depth & Resonance
Its linden top, back and sides give the AS7328 the resonance associated with semi-hollow instruments while complementing the naturally powerful lower frequencies of baritone tuning. Clean sounds can feel broad and spacious, while driven tones gain additional harmonic character.
Classic Elite Humbuckers
A pair of passive ceramic Classic Elite humbuckers provides a full-bodied tonal foundation with plenty of low-end presence. Independent volume and tone controls for each pickup make it easy to shape everything from rounded neck tones to more focused bridge sounds.
Familiar AS-Series Feel
Despite its extended scale, the guitar retains the elegant double-cut design, set-in neck construction, bound rosewood fingerboard and traditional control layout associated with Ibanez's long-running AS family.
Why Choose a Baritone Semi-Hollow Guitar?
A baritone guitar occupies the space between a conventional electric guitar and the lowest registers normally associated with extended-range instruments. The longer scale allows heavier strings and lower tunings to retain definition and usable tension.
Combining that format with a semi-hollow body gives the AS7328 an especially distinctive response. There is enough low-end authority for heavy riffs and alternative tunings, but also an airy resonance that suits ambient music, soundtrack work, clean chord voicings, blues and experimental playing.
Who Is It For?
The Ibanez AS7328 is particularly well suited to:
- Guitarists wanting to explore B-standard and lower-register sounds
- Alternative, progressive and experimental players
- Ambient and cinematic guitarists
- Songwriters looking for a different tonal register
- Studio musicians wanting an additional sonic texture
- Players who prefer six-string familiarity over a seven-string guitar
- Semi-hollow players looking for something genuinely different
- Guitarists wanting substantial low-end without sacrificing warmth and resonance
Story & Context
Introduced as part of Ibanez's 2026 hollow-body range, the AS7328 expands the established Artcore AS concept into genuine baritone territory.
Ibanez has long combined traditional hollow and semi-hollow guitar architecture with modern player-focused ideas. The AS7328 continues that approach by taking the familiar double-cut AS design and pairing it with a significantly longer scale, heavier strings and B-standard tuning.

What Makes the Ibanez AS7328 Special?
The defining feature of the AS7328 is the combination of a traditional semi-hollow electric guitar platform and a genuine 28-inch baritone scale. That gives it a character quite different from both conventional AS-series models and extended-range solid-body guitars.
Its heavy factory string set, B-standard tuning and Classic Elite humbuckers provide substantial low-frequency authority, while the semi-hollow construction keeps chords harmonically rich and clean sounds open and expressive.

Ibanez AS7328 Compared
Compared With a Standard Semi-Hollow Guitar
The AS7328 retains much of the feel, control layout and resonance of a conventional double-cut semi-hollow, but its 28-inch scale and B-standard tuning produce considerably greater low-frequency extension. Standard semi-hollows remain better suited to conventional E-standard playing, whereas the AS7328 is designed around the lower baritone register.
Compared With a Solid-Body Baritone
A solid-body baritone can offer a tighter and more immediate response, particularly for heavily distorted music. The AS7328 adds the resonance and harmonic complexity of semi-hollow construction, making it especially appealing for clean, edge-of-breakup, ambient and dynamically expressive playing.
Compared With a Seven-String Guitar
The AS7328 reaches into a similarly extended tonal range while retaining a six-string layout. Players can therefore use familiar chord shapes and techniques without adapting to an additional string or wider seven-string fingerboard.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Ibanez AS7328 a seven-string guitar?
No. The AS7328 is a six-string baritone guitar. Its extended 28-inch scale and B-standard tuning provide the lower range while retaining a conventional six-string configuration.
What is the standard tuning of the AS7328?
Ibanez supplies the AS7328 in B standard: B–E–A–D–F#–B, effectively placing the instrument substantially below a conventional E-standard guitar.
Can the AS7328 be played like a normal guitar?
Yes. It retains six strings and familiar interval relationships, so normal guitar chord shapes and techniques transfer naturally. The longer scale, heavier strings and lower pitch give the instrument a noticeably different feel and voice.
Is the AS7328 suitable for heavy music?
Absolutely, but it is not limited to heavy music. Its extended low end works particularly well for large riffs, while the semi-hollow construction also makes it highly effective for ambient, alternative, blues, jazz-influenced and cinematic sounds.

Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★
The Ibanez AS7328 is one of the more distinctive interpretations of the modern baritone guitar. Instead of following the usual extended-range solid-body formula, Ibanez has combined a genuine 28-inch scale with the warmth and resonance of its classic semi-hollow AS platform.
For players wanting deep B-standard tones, atmospheric cleans, huge chord voicings or a completely different studio voice while retaining a familiar six-string layout, the AS7328 offers an unusually compelling combination.
