Quick Product Summary
The Ibanez FRH10N-BSF is a modern nylon-string electro-acoustic designed for players who want classical-style tone without the bulk of a traditional classical guitar. Its extremely slim FRH body, 46mm nut width and 25.5" scale create a familiar, accessible feel for electric and steel-string guitarists.
A solid Sitka spruce top combines with sapele back and sides, while an Ibanez undersaddle pickup and AEQ210T preamp make the FRH10N equally comfortable on stage, in the studio or plugged into an acoustic amplifier.
What Makes the Ibanez FRH10N-BSF Special?
The FRH10N approaches the nylon-string guitar from a distinctly modern perspective. Its body measures less than two inches at its deepest point, making it considerably slimmer than a conventional acoustic or classical instrument. A side sound port directs more of the guitar's acoustic response towards the player, while dedicated fan bracing complements the nylon-string construction.
Its 46mm nut is also narrower than that of many traditional classical guitars, making chord shapes and lead playing more approachable for musicians accustomed to electric guitars. Combined with a cutaway body, 22 frets and amplified electronics, the FRH10N is particularly well suited to contemporary nylon-string performance.
Who Is It For?
The FRH10N-BSF is an excellent choice for:
- Electric guitarists exploring nylon-string sounds
- Players who find traditional classical necks too wide
- Modern fingerstyle guitarists
- Jazz, Latin, fusion and acoustic performers
- Live musicians requiring built-in electronics
- Songwriters looking for a softer alternative to steel strings
- Players wanting a slim, comfortable nylon-string stage guitar

FAQs
Is the Ibanez FRH10N-BSF a classical guitar?
It is a nylon-string guitar influenced by classical construction, but the FRH10N has been designed around a much more contemporary playing experience. Its slim body, cutaway and narrower neck make it particularly accessible to modern guitarists.
What does BSF stand for?
BSF is Ibanez's finish code for Brown Sunburst Flat.
Does the FRH10N use nylon strings?
Yes. The FRH10N is designed specifically for nylon strings and is supplied with D'Addario XTC45 strings.
Is the neck as wide as a traditional classical guitar?
No. The FRH10N has a 46mm nut width, which is narrower than the neck found on many traditional classical guitars. This makes it particularly comfortable for players transitioning from electric or steel-string acoustic guitars.
Does the FRH10N have a solid top?
Yes. It features a solid Sitka spruce top, paired with sapele back and sides.
Can the Ibanez FRH10N be plugged into an amplifier?
Yes. An Ibanez undersaddle pickup and AEQ210T preamp are fitted as standard, allowing the guitar to connect to an acoustic amplifier, PA system, audio interface or other suitable equipment.
Does it have a built-in tuner?
Yes. The AEQ210T preamp includes an onboard tuner, making it easy to check tuning during rehearsals, recording sessions and live performances.
What is the side sound port for?
The side sound port is positioned so more of the guitar's acoustic sound is directed towards the player. This helps you hear the instrument more clearly while playing.
Is it suitable for electric guitar players?
Yes. The relatively narrow 46mm nut, 25.5" scale, slim body and cutaway design make the FRH10N particularly approachable for electric guitarists who want to add nylon-string sounds to their setup.
Is the FRH10N suitable for live performance?
Absolutely. Its compact body and onboard electronics make it particularly well suited to stage use, especially where a traditional full-size classical guitar may feel cumbersome.
Does it require a power supply?
No. The onboard electronics operate from a single 9V battery, so no external power supply is required.
