Quick Product Summary

The Ibanez FRH10N is a contemporary nylon-string electro-acoustic designed for guitarists who want the warmth and expressive response of nylon strings with a slimmer, more familiar playing feel. Its compact FRH body, 46mm nut and cutaway construction make it especially approachable for electric and steel-string guitarists.

A solid Sitka spruce top and sapele back and sides provide a balanced acoustic foundation, while an Ibanez undersaddle pickup and AEQ210T preamp make the FRH10N ready for amplified performance, recording and rehearsal.

What Makes the Ibanez FRH10N Special?

Rather than following traditional classical-guitar proportions, the FRH10N uses an exceptionally slim hollow body with fan bracing and a side sound port. The absence of a conventional top soundhole helps reduce feedback when amplified, while the side port directs more of the guitar's natural acoustic sound towards the player.

Its 46mm nut is noticeably narrower than that of a conventional classical guitar, while the 25.5" scale, 400mm fingerboard radius, cutaway and 22-fret layout give it a distinctly contemporary feel. This makes it an excellent crossover instrument for guitarists wanting to explore nylon-string sounds without dramatically changing their playing technique.

Who Is It For?

The Ibanez FRH10N is ideal for:

  • Electric guitarists moving into nylon-string playing
  • Contemporary fingerstyle players
  • Jazz, Latin and fusion musicians
  • Singer-songwriters looking for a softer acoustic texture
  • Live performers who need built-in electronics
  • Players who find traditional classical necks too wide
  • Studio musicians looking for an alternative tonal option
  • Guitarists wanting a compact, stage-friendly nylon-string instrument

FAQs

Is the Ibanez FRH10N a classical guitar?

The FRH10N uses nylon strings and classical-style fan bracing, but its design is considerably more contemporary than a traditional classical guitar. Its slim body, narrow nut, cutaway and onboard electronics make it particularly suitable for modern guitarists.

Does the Ibanez FRH10N have a solid top?

Yes. It features a solid Sitka spruce top paired with sapele back and sides.

Does the FRH10N use nylon strings?

Yes. It is designed specifically for nylon strings and is factory fitted with D'Addario XTC45 strings.

Is the neck narrower than a traditional classical guitar?

Yes. The FRH10N has a 46mm nut width, making it narrower than many conventional classical guitars and particularly comfortable for players accustomed to electric or steel-string acoustic guitars.

Can the FRH10N be plugged into an amplifier?

Yes. The Ibanez undersaddle pickup and AEQ210T preamp allow the guitar to connect directly to an acoustic amplifier, PA system, audio interface or other suitable equipment.

Does it have an onboard tuner?

Yes. The AEQ210T preamp includes a built-in tuner, making it convenient for rehearsals, recording and live performance.

Why does the FRH10N have a side sound port?

The side sound port directs more of the instrument's acoustic sound towards the player, helping you hear the guitar clearly while performing.

Why doesn't the FRH10N have a traditional soundhole?

The FRH body is designed without a conventional soundhole on the top. This contributes to its distinctive appearance and helps reduce feedback when the instrument is amplified.

Is the FRH10N suitable for electric guitarists?

Yes. Its 25.5" scale, 46mm nut, 400mm fingerboard radius, cutaway and slim body make the transition from an electric guitar much easier than with many traditional classical instruments.

Is it suitable for live performance?

Yes. Its compact body, onboard pickup and preamp make the FRH10N particularly effective as a stage instrument.

Does it require an external power supply?

No. The onboard electronics run from a single 9V battery, so no external power supply is required.
