Quick Product Summary
The Ibanez RG470PB-REB in Red Eclipse Burst combines the fast, performance-focused feel of the legendary RG design with a striking Poplar Burl top and versatile H-S-H electronics. Its slim Wizard III maple neck, 24-fret Jatoba fingerboard and sculpted double-cutaway body make it particularly comfortable for technical rhythm and lead playing.
Three Ibanez Quantum pickups provide everything from powerful humbucker tones to clearer single-coil textures, while the Edge-Zero II double-locking tremolo offers the stability and control required for expressive pitch effects. The deep Red Eclipse Burst finish and black hardware complete a modern, aggressive look.
What Makes the Ibanez RG470PB-REB Special?
The visual centrepiece is its Poplar Burl top, which gives the RG470PB a distinctive natural grain beneath the Red Eclipse Burst finish. Underneath, the familiar RG formula remains firmly performance-focused, combining a slim Wizard III maple neck with a flat 400 mm fingerboard radius and 24 jumbo frets.
Its Quantum H-S-H pickup layout also makes the RG470PB more versatile than a conventional twin-humbucker guitar. A five-way selector accesses full humbuckers alongside combined single-coil-style settings, while the Edge-Zero II bridge provides the double-locking stability needed for everything from gentle vibrato to more dramatic tremolo techniques.
Who Is It For?
The RG470PB-REB is an excellent choice for guitarists looking for fast playability, versatile electronics and an expressive locking tremolo.
It is particularly well suited to:
- Rock and metal guitarists
- Progressive and technical players
- Lead and shred styles
- Fast modern rhythm playing

What neck does the RG470PB use?
It features an Ibanez Wizard III maple neck, designed around the slim, fast-playing feel for which the RG series is well known.
Is the RG470PB suitable for shred and technical playing?
Yes. Its Wizard III neck, flat 400 mm fingerboard radius and 24 jumbo frets make it particularly well suited to fast alternate picking, legato, tapping, sweeping and other technical techniques.
What pickups does the RG470PB have?
It uses Ibanez Quantum pickups in an H-S-H configuration, with ceramic humbuckers at the bridge and neck alongside an Alnico middle single coil.

The five-way selector provides combination positions that use individual humbucker coils alongside the middle pickup, giving you brighter and more articulate sounds in addition to the full humbucker positions.
Does the RG470PB have a locking tremolo?
Yes. It features an Edge-Zero II tremolo and locking nut, providing the stability required for both subtle vibrato and more extreme pitch effects.
How many frets does it have?
The RG470PB has 24 jumbo frets, providing a full two-octave range on each string.
Is the RG470PB suitable for styles other than metal?
Yes. Although the RG design is particularly popular for rock and metal, the H-S-H pickup system and five-way switching make it capable of covering progressive music, fusion, pop, instrumental styles and general-purpose electric guitar work.
What strings are fitted from the factory?
Ibanez fits D'Addario EXL120 strings in .009–.042 gauges as standard.
Does it come with a case or gig bag?
