Quick Product Summary
The Ibanez SA460MBW-SUB is a sleek and versatile electric guitar combining the comfortable contours of the SA Series with an eye-catching Sunset Blue Burst finish and figured maple burl top.
Its HSS pickup configuration pairs two Resolution single-coils with a Quantum bridge humbucker, while the slim maple neck, ebony fingerboard and T102 tremolo make it equally comfortable handling clean rhythm work, blues, rock and heavier lead playing.
What Makes the Ibanez SA460MBW-SUB Special?
The standout feature is its maple burl top, which gives each instrument an individual grain pattern beneath the vibrant Sunset Blue Burst finish. Underneath sits an okoume body shaped with the thin, comfortably contoured profile for which Ibanez's SA Series is known.
The combination of Resolution single-coils and a Quantum humbucker gives the SA460MBW a broad tonal range. Clear neck and middle pickup sounds sit alongside the additional output and punch of the bridge humbucker, making this a particularly flexible choice for players who regularly move between different musical styles.
Who Is It For?
The SA460MBW-SUB is ideal for players looking for one guitar capable of covering a wide range of sounds without sacrificing modern playability.
Its HSS electronics suit pop, blues, funk, indie, rock and heavier styles, while the comfortable body contours and slim neck make it a strong option for both rhythm and lead guitarists.

FAQs
What does SUB mean on the Ibanez SA460MBW-SUB?
SUB stands for Sunset Blue Burst, the distinctive blue burst finish used on this version of the SA460MBW.
What woods are used for the body?
The guitar features an okoume body topped with maple burl, giving it a lightweight, comfortable construction alongside its highly figured appearance.
Is the maple burl a real wood top?
Yes. The SA460MBW features a maple burl top rather than simply a printed burl-style graphic.
What pickup configuration does it use?
It has an HSS configuration, with two Resolution single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions and a Quantum humbucker at the bridge.
Is the SA460MBW suitable for rock and metal?
Yes. The Quantum bridge humbucker provides the additional output and definition required for distorted rock and metal tones, while the single-coils provide cleaner and brighter alternatives.
Does it have a floating tremolo?
The SA460MBW uses an Ibanez T102 tremolo bridge, allowing players to add vibrato and pitch effects while retaining a simpler setup than a double-locking tremolo system.
How many frets does it have?
It has 22 medium frets on a bound ebony fingerboard.
Is the fingerboard ebony?
Yes. The SA460MBW uses a bound ebony fingerboard with abalone dot position markers.
What is the scale length?
The scale length is 648mm / 25.5 inches, a familiar full-scale format used on many modern electric guitars.
Does the guitar come with a case?
No. A hard case or gig bag is not included.
Is this a good all-round electric guitar?
Yes. The HSS pickup arrangement, five-way selector and comfortable SA body make it particularly versatile for players who want to cover several styles with one instrument.
