What Makes the Korg Pa600 Special?
The Pa600 brings many of Korg's professional arranger concepts into an instrument that remains approachable and relatively compact. Its extensive library covers acoustic and electric pianos, organs, guitars, strings, brass, orchestral sounds, synths, drums and more, while Defined Nuance Control technology helps compatible sounds respond with greater realism and expression.
Where the Pa600 really distinguishes itself from a conventional keyboard is its arranger system. More than 360 Styles can provide complete backing arrangements that respond to the chords you play, while intros, variations, fills, breaks and endings let you shape the performance in real time.
Why Choose the Korg Pa600?
More Than 950 Factory Sounds
The Pa600 contains over 950 factory sounds and 64 factory Drum Kits, providing a broad palette for almost any style of music.
Korg's sound engine combines up to 128 voices of polyphony with resonant filters, individual track EQ and DNC articulation technology, giving musicians considerably more control than a typical entry-level arranger.
Over 360 Accompaniment Styles
More than 360 factory Styles provide intelligent backing across pop, rock, jazz, dance, traditional and numerous other musical genres.
Each Style can contain three Intros, four Variations, four Fills, a Break and three Endings, allowing a performance to develop naturally instead of repeating the same accompaniment pattern.
Chord Sequencer
The built-in Chord Sequencer can record a chord progression and play it back automatically.
This frees both hands for melody, improvisation or more elaborate keyboard parts and is especially useful for practising, songwriting and live performance.
User Sampling
The Pa600 provides 96MB of User PCM memory and supports loading or importing Korg, WAV, AIFF and SoundFont sample data.
For musicians who want to personalise their instrument with additional sounds or custom samples, this adds significant flexibility beyond the factory library.
16-Track Sequencer
A fully featured 16-track sequencer supports Multitrack, Step and Quick Record workflows with capacity for up to 100,000 events.
This allows complete MIDI arrangements to be developed directly on the keyboard without requiring a computer for every stage of the creative process.
SongBook Performance Database
Korg's SongBook is a fully programmable music database capable of organising Styles, Standard MIDI Files, Karaoke files and MP3s alongside the settings required for each performance.
For musicians building a live repertoire, SongBook can make moving between songs far quicker and more organised.
Built-In Speaker System
The Pa600 includes 2 x 15W amplification driving two 100mm double-cone speakers in a bass-reflex enclosure.
This makes it suitable for home playing, writing and rehearsal without requiring an external amplifier, while dedicated audio outputs allow connection to a larger sound system when required.
Why Choose a Professional Arranger Keyboard?
An arranger keyboard creates accompaniment that responds to the chords you play rather than simply playing a fixed backing track.
You remain in control of how the arrangement develops, selecting intros, variations, fills, breaks and endings as you perform. This makes an arranger particularly useful for solo musicians, entertainers, songwriters and players who want to experiment with complete arrangements without assembling a full band.
The Pa600 also goes beyond basic accompaniment with sampling, detailed Style editing, MIDI sequencing, SongBook and audio-file playback, making it a far more creative instrument than a conventional portable keyboard.
Who Is the Korg Pa600 For?
Live Performers
Real-time Styles, SongBook, Chord Sequencer and extensive performance controls make the Pa600 a flexible option for solo performers and keyboard players.
Home Musicians
Built-in amplification means the instrument can be switched on and played without setting up additional speakers or amplification equipment.
Songwriters
Styles and Chord Sequencer provide a fast way to explore different arrangements and rhythmic approaches while developing new material.
Arrangers and Composers
A 16-track sequencer, Style editing and user sampling provide considerably deeper creative options than those found on a typical home keyboard.
Players Moving Up From an Entry-Level Arranger
For musicians who have outgrown a beginner portable keyboard, the Pa600 introduces more sophisticated sound editing, accompaniment control and performance-management features without requiring a flagship-level instrument.
Story & Context
The Korg Pa-series has developed into one of the company's best-known arranger keyboard families, combining automatic accompaniment with professional sound generation, sequencing and live-performance features.
The Pa600 was designed to make many of those technologies available in a more compact and accessible format. Features such as DNC sound articulation, SongBook, Chord Sequencer, user sampling and extensive Style editing give it capabilities that extend well beyond conventional home keyboards.
Korg has also continued supporting the Pa600 platform with system software updates long after its original introduction, reinforcing its position as a well-established member of the Pa-series family.
Korg Pa600 Compared
Pa600 vs Pa700
The newer Pa700 expands significantly on the Pa600 with a larger sound and Style library, greater sampling memory, a newer EDS-X sound engine and more advanced performance features.
The Pa600 remains an appealing choice for players who want the core Korg Pa-series arranger experience, built-in speakers and extensive editing capabilities in a straightforward 61-key instrument.
Pa600 vs Pa5X
The Pa5X sits at the flagship professional end of Korg's arranger range, with significantly greater sampling capacity, more sounds and Styles, aftertouch-equipped keyboard options, advanced vocal and guitar processing and its XDS Dual Player architecture.
The Pa600 is considerably simpler, lighter and more accessible while still providing genuine Pa-series arranging, sequencing and performance functionality.
