Description

Quik Lok Z/716 Heavy-Duty Z-Style Keyboard Stand

The Quik Lok Z/716 Keyboard Stand provides a strong, stable platform for digital pianos, stage pianos, synthesizers, MIDI controllers and other electronic music equipment. Its heavy-gauge steel construction and computer-welded joints make it a dependable alternative to a conventional X-frame stand, particularly for musicians using larger or heavier keyboards.

The open Z-frame design gives seated players plenty of knee and pedal room, while seven fixed height positions allow the playing position to be adjusted from 67 to 85 cm. A substantial 113 kg maximum load capacity provides reassuring support for professional keyboards, studio equipment and demanding performance setups.

The Z/716 is also part of Quik Lok’s modular Z-series system. This allows the stand to form the foundation of a more extensive keyboard or studio workstation as your equipment setup develops.

Why Choose the Quik Lok Z/716 Keyboard Stand?

Heavy-Duty Support for Larger Keyboards

With a maximum load capacity of 113 kg, the Z/716 comfortably supports digital pianos, stage keyboards, synthesizers and controllers. Its heavy-gauge steel frame provides a secure base for instruments that deserve something more substantial than a lightweight stand.

Excellent Legroom for Seated Playing

Unlike an X-frame stand, the Z/716 has no crossing support bars directly beneath the keyboard. This creates an open area for your knees, sustain pedals, expression pedals and other floor controls.

The design is particularly useful for pianists and keyboard players who spend long periods practising, recording or performing while seated.

Seven Fixed Height Positions

The stand provides seven height settings between 67 and 85 cm:

  • 67 cm

  • 70 cm

  • 73 cm

  • 76 cm

  • 79 cm

  • 82 cm

  • 85 cm

These clearly defined positions make it easier to create a consistent setup at home, in the studio or on stage.

Strong, Stable Z-Frame Construction

The wide Z-shaped frame distributes the keyboard’s weight across a substantial floor area. Heavy-gauge steel tubing and computer-welded joints provide the strength required for regular professional use.

Expandable Modular Design

The Z/716 can be developed beyond a basic single-tier keyboard stand. Quik Lok offers compatible Z-series accessories for creating a more comprehensive workstation with additional keyboard, equipment, music and microphone support.

This makes the Z/716 a practical choice for musicians who expect their setup to grow over time.

Who Is the Quik Lok Z/716 For?

The Quik Lok Z/716 is an excellent choice for:

  • Digital piano players

  • Stage pianists

  • Synthesizer musicians

  • Keyboard players using sustain and expression pedals

  • Home-studio producers

  • Professional recording studios

  • Live performers

  • Music teachers

  • Rehearsal rooms

  • Churches and performance venues

  • Musicians building expandable keyboard workstations

Its strong construction is particularly valuable for players using heavier 76-note or 88-note instruments, although the dimensions of the keyboard should always be checked against the stand before purchase.

Z-Style vs X-Style Keyboard Stands

X-style keyboard stands remain popular because they are lightweight, affordable and quick to fold. However, their crossed frame can restrict knee room, especially when the player is seated or using several pedals.

A Z-style stand creates a more open playing area. The Quik Lok Z/716 allows the player to position sustain pedals, expression pedals and pedalboards without working around a central X-frame.

The broad rectangular support arms also create a substantial contact area beneath the instrument. This makes the Z/716 particularly suitable for digital pianos, stage pianos and workstation keyboards that benefit from a strong, reassuring platform.

An X-frame stand can still be preferable when minimum weight and very fast transportation are the main priorities. The Z/716 is the stronger choice for stability, legroom, heavier instruments and expandable setups.

How Does the Quik Lok Z/716 Compare?

Compared with a Lightweight Single-Braced X-Stand

A lightweight X-stand is easier to carry but provides less legroom and is generally better suited to smaller, lighter keyboards. The Z/716 offers a much greater maximum load capacity and a more substantial playing platform.

Compared with a Double-Braced X-Stand

A double-braced X-stand can provide good strength and remains relatively portable. The Z/716 offers a more open area beneath the keyboard, making it better suited to seated pianists and players using multiple pedals.

Compared with a Table-Style Keyboard Stand

Table-style stands also provide good legroom and stability. The Z/716 stands apart through its modular design, allowing compatible Quik Lok accessories to be added as the player’s workstation develops.

Compared with a Furniture-Style Digital Piano Stand

A manufacturer-specific wooden stand can give a digital piano a more permanent furniture-style appearance. The Z/716 is the more flexible choice for musicians who change instruments, move equipment between rooms or need a stand suitable for studio and stage use.

A Strong Foundation for a Keyboard Workstation

The Z/716 begins as a straightforward single-tier stand but can become the centre of a more complete performance or production setup.

Compatible Quik Lok Z-series accessories can provide support for additional equipment, including a second keyboard, music, microphones and studio hardware. Some configurations require the separately available Quik Lok Z/720 accessory bar.

This modular approach allows musicians to start with a dependable keyboard stand and expand the system when additional equipment is introduced.

Compatibility and Setup Advice

The Z/716 is designed for keyboards, synthesizers, controllers and other electronic equipment that can rest securely across its 50.2 cm-deep upper supports.

Before placing an instrument on the stand, check:

  • The keyboard’s overall width and depth

  • The position of feet or moulded sections beneath the keyboard

  • The instrument’s total weight

  • The required seated or standing playing height

  • The space needed for cables and pedals

  • Whether future Z-series accessories will be added

The stand’s 86.4 cm fixed width should also be considered when planning a compact room, studio or stage setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Quik Lok Z/716 suitable for an 88-note digital piano?

The heavy-duty frame and 113 kg maximum load capacity make it suitable for many 88-note digital pianos and stage pianos. Check that the keyboard’s underside rests securely across the stand’s 86.4 cm width and 50.2 cm-deep upper supports.

Is the Z/716 suitable for seated playing?

Yes. Its open Z-frame provides generous knee room and leaves the floor area accessible for sustain pedals, expression pedals and other controls.

Can the height be adjusted?

Yes. The Z/716 offers seven fixed height positions from 67 to 85 cm, allowing the setup to be adapted for seated or standing use.

Is this stand suitable for live performance?

Yes. Its heavy-gauge steel construction, welded joints and substantial load capacity make it well suited to professional stage and rehearsal environments.

Can I add a second keyboard tier?

The modular Z-series system supports compatible expansion accessories. The appropriate Quik Lok accessory components must be purchased separately, and some configurations require the Z/720 accessory bar.

Is a Z-style stand better than an X-style stand?

A Z-style stand is particularly useful when stability, legroom and pedal access are priorities. An X-style stand is generally lighter and faster to fold, making it more convenient when minimum transport weight is essential.

Can it support studio equipment instead of a keyboard?

The strong frame can support suitable controllers, recording equipment and other electronic hardware, provided the equipment sits securely on the upper supports and remains within the stated load capacity.

Is the Z/716 portable?

The Z/716 can be transported between venues, but its 7.8 kg steel construction is designed around strength and stability rather than minimum weight. It is best suited to musicians who value a substantial playing platform.

Fair Deal Music Verdict

Fair Deal Music Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5

The Quik Lok Z/716 is an excellent choice for pianists, keyboard players and producers who want a stronger, more spacious alternative to an X-frame stand.

Its main benefits are the impressive 113 kg load capacity, open pedal area and seven practical height settings. The modular Z-series design adds long-term value by allowing the stand to develop into a more complete keyboard or studio workstation.

We particularly recommend it for heavier digital pianos, professional stage keyboards and semi-permanent home or studio setups where stability and playing comfort matter more than minimum carrying weight.
