Schecter C-1 Pale Moon Satin Natural Black Burst Electric Guitar
Description
INTRODUCTION
The Schecter C-1 Pale Moon in Satin Natural Black Burst is a premium modern electric guitar that combines Schecter’s established C-1 platform with one of the most visually distinctive exotic tops in the range.
Its standout feature is the Pale Moon Ebony top, characterised by dramatic natural streaking and contrasting light and dark figuring. Because the grain pattern varies naturally from piece to piece, each C-1 Pale Moon has its own individual visual character beneath the Satin Natural Black Burst finish.
Underneath that striking appearance is a serious performance specification. A swamp ash body is paired with neck-thru 7-piece maple, walnut and padauk construction, an Ultra Thin “C” neck profile, compound-radius Richlite fingerboard and 24 X-Jumbo stainless steel frets. Dual Schecter Brimstone-6 humbuckers deliver powerful modern tones, while push-pull coil splitting expands the guitar’s range beyond conventional high-output HH sounds.
A Schecter Nouveau Ergo hardtail bridge and TonePros tuners complete a setup designed for players who want high-performance Schecter playability without the additional maintenance of a locking tremolo.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
The C-1 Pale Moon combines exotic aesthetics with specifications that genuinely benefit the player. Its Pale Moon Ebony top makes every example visually individual, while the neck-thru construction, Ultra Thin profile and stainless steel frets create the fast, precise feel expected from a serious modern Schecter.
The fixed bridge is another major strength. Players get the premium construction and high-output electronics of a performance guitar while retaining straightforward restringing, easier alternate-tuning changes and simpler day-to-day maintenance than a Floyd Rose-equipped model.
DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS
Genuine Pale Moon Ebony Top
The defining visual feature of this C-1 is its Pale Moon Ebony top.
Pale Moon Ebony is known for its unusual natural appearance, combining pale areas with dramatic charcoal and dark streaking. Unlike a uniform veneer or printed graphic, the individual pattern comes from the character of the wood itself.
That means no two guitars will present exactly the same figuring.
For players who want an instrument that feels visually individual rather than mass-produced, this is one of the C-1 Pale Moon’s biggest attractions.
Satin Natural Black Burst Finish
Schecter complements the exotic top with a Satin Natural Black Burst finish.
Rather than hiding the figuring beneath an opaque colour, the finish allows the Pale Moon Ebony grain to remain the focal point.
The darker burst around the edges helps frame the naturally lighter centre sections, while black hardware and black binding create a cohesive modern look.
The satin treatment also gives the guitar a more understated appearance than a highly polished gloss finish.
Schecter Brimstone-6 Pickups
The C-1 Pale Moon is equipped with Schecter Brimstone-6 humbuckers in both the bridge and neck positions.
These pickups are designed around the strong output and definition required for modern rock and metal.
The bridge pickup provides the focused attack required for:
-
Tight palm-muted rhythm work
-
Modern metal
-
Hard rock
-
High-gain chord work
-
Aggressive lead tones
-
Recording through modelling systems
The neck pickup offers a fuller alternative for lead guitar, melodic passages and warmer clean sounds.
Together they give the C-1 Pale Moon a powerful contemporary HH voice.
Push-Pull Coil Splitting
The master tone control incorporates push-pull coil splitting.
This gives players access to leaner, brighter sounds alongside the standard full-humbucker tones.
It is especially useful when moving between heavier rhythm passages and cleaner sections within the same song.
Although a split humbucker will not behave exactly like a traditional dedicated single-coil pickup, the additional sounds significantly increase the guitar’s practical versatility.
Neck-Thru Construction
The C-1 Pale Moon uses neck-thru construction, with the 7-piece neck forming part of the central structure of the guitar.
This creates an exceptionally smooth physical transition between neck and body.
Schecter combines the construction with its Ultra Access contour, allowing the fretting hand to move into the highest registers without encountering the substantial heel found on many traditional guitars.
For players who regularly use the full 24-fret range, this is a meaningful performance advantage.
7-Piece Maple, Walnut and Padauk Neck
The neck is constructed from seven pieces of maple, walnut and padauk.
Multi-piece neck construction provides an extremely solid foundation while also creating an attractive striped appearance along the rear of the instrument.
It is a specification more commonly associated with premium performance guitars and suits the C-1 Pale Moon’s combination of exotic appearance and modern engineering.
Ultra Thin “C” Neck Profile
Schecter uses its Ultra Thin “C” neck profile, measuring approximately:
-
19mm at the 1st fret
-
20mm at the 12th fret
This is a notably slim modern neck shape.
It is particularly well suited to:
-
Fast alternate picking
-
Technical rhythm guitar
-
Large stretches
-
Sweep picking
-
Legato
-
Tapping
-
Rapid position changes
Players who favour thick vintage-style necks may prefer something more substantial, but guitarists looking for minimal resistance and a fast performance feel should find the profile particularly appealing.
Richlite Fingerboard
The neck is topped with a Richlite fingerboard.
Richlite is an engineered material valued for its smooth surface, consistency and stability. It provides the dark appearance associated with premium fingerboard materials while offering a highly uniform playing surface.
On the C-1 Pale Moon, its deep colour also creates an effective visual contrast against the Pale Moon Ebony body top.
Offset metal ring inlays keep the design modern and understated.
12"–16" Compound Radius
The fingerboard features a 12"–16" compound radius.
This means it becomes progressively flatter as the player moves towards the upper frets.
The slightly rounder lower positions remain comfortable for chord work and rhythm playing, while the flatter upper register is ideal for:
-
Wide bends
-
Fast lead runs
-
Legato
-
Tapping
-
Sweep picking
-
Low-action setups
This gives the C-1 Pale Moon a useful balance between general playing comfort and serious modern lead performance.
24 X-Jumbo Stainless Steel Frets
The C-1 Pale Moon features 24 X-Jumbo stainless steel frets.
Twenty-four frets provide a full two-octave range on every string, making the guitar especially suitable for players who frequently use the upper register.
The X-Jumbo dimensions provide a substantial playing surface for bending and vibrato, while stainless steel offers considerably greater resistance to fret wear than conventional nickel-silver material.
For players who put significant hours into their guitars, stainless steel frets can be a valuable long-term upgrade.
Luminlay Side Markers
The guitar features Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side markers.
This is a genuinely practical stage feature rather than simply a cosmetic addition.
Under dark lighting, conventional side dots can become difficult to see. Luminlay markers remain much easier to locate, making neck navigation more straightforward during live performance.
Swamp Ash Body
Beneath the Pale Moon Ebony top is a swamp ash body.
Swamp ash provides the foundation for the C-1’s carved modern shape and works particularly well visually with the contrasting exotic top.
The familiar C-1 double-cutaway profile remains compact and comfortable whether playing seated or standing.
Black single-ply binding outlines the body and provides a clean transition between the Pale Moon top and darker burst edges.
Schecter Nouveau Ergo Hardtail Bridge
Rather than a Floyd Rose, the C-1 Pale Moon uses the Schecter Nouveau Ergo hardtail bridge.
For many players, this will be one of the guitar’s greatest practical advantages.
A fixed bridge makes:
-
String changes simpler
-
Alternate tunings easier
-
String-gauge changes less complicated
-
Intonation adjustment straightforward
-
General maintenance easier
Players who do not rely on tremolo effects can therefore enjoy the C-1’s premium performance specification without taking on the additional setup requirements of a floating bridge.
Graph Tech XL Black TUSQ Nut
A Graph Tech XL Black TUSQ nut provides a precision-made contact point at the headstock end.
Its 42mm width maintains a familiar six-string feel, while the material is a high-quality upgrade over basic moulded nuts commonly found on more affordable guitars.
It works alongside the fixed bridge and quality tuners to create a straightforward, dependable string path.
TonePros “M Series” Tuners
Schecter equips the C-1 Pale Moon with TonePros “M Series” tuners.
These form part of the guitar’s premium hardware package and complement the simplicity of the hardtail bridge.
Without a locking nut to manage, standard tuning adjustments remain quick and familiar.
Heel-Access Truss Rod Adjustment
A two-way adjustable truss rod with a spoke wheel at the neck heel makes neck relief adjustments significantly easier to access than many traditional designs.
For players who perform their own setups or move between different string gauges, this is the kind of practical detail that becomes increasingly useful over the lifetime of the guitar.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Schecter C-1 Pale Moon is best suited to intermediate, advanced and professional players looking for premium modern playability in a visually distinctive fixed-bridge guitar.
It is particularly well suited to:
-
Modern metal
-
Progressive metal
-
Hard rock
-
Progressive rock
-
Alternative metal
-
Instrumental guitar
-
Technical lead playing
-
High-gain rhythm guitar
-
Studio recording
-
Live performance
-
Players who prefer fixed bridges
-
Guitarists who regularly use alternate tunings
-
Players who value stainless steel frets
-
Guitarists looking for a visually individual exotic-top instrument
Its dual humbuckers and coil splitting also make it considerably more versatile than its aggressive appearance may initially suggest.
PLAYING STYLES & APPLICATIONS
Modern Metal
The Brimstone-6 bridge pickup provides the strong output and articulation required for modern high-gain sounds.
Combined with the 25.5" scale and stable fixed bridge, the C-1 Pale Moon is particularly convincing for tight palm-muted riffing and technical rhythm work.
Progressive Metal
The Ultra Thin neck, compound-radius fingerboard and stainless steel frets make the guitar an excellent choice for technically demanding progressive styles.
Fast runs, complex chord shapes and rapid transitions between rhythm and lead work all benefit from the performance-focused neck specification.
Lead Guitar
The C-1 Pale Moon is particularly strong as a lead instrument.
Its combination of:
-
Ultra Thin “C” neck
-
24 stainless steel frets
-
12"–16" compound radius
-
Neck-thru construction
-
Ultra Access heel
creates a playing platform built for unrestricted upper-register work.
Hard Rock
The Brimstone pickups also suit more traditional hard-rock gain levels.
Using the neck pickup provides a warmer lead character, while the bridge position gives rhythm guitar the attack required to cut through a band mix.
Clean and Lower-Gain Playing
The push-pull coil split provides additional flexibility away from high-gain sounds.
Split pickup settings can create brighter textures for clean chords, arpeggios and more delicate rhythm playing.
This makes the C-1 Pale Moon much more useful as an all-round instrument than a fixed high-output HH layout might initially suggest.
Studio Recording
The fixed bridge makes this version particularly practical in a recording environment.
Players can change tuning more easily than with a Floyd Rose, while the two humbuckers and coil splitting provide several useful tonal starting points.
For sessions involving multiple guitar tunings or layered rhythm parts, that simplicity can be extremely valuable.
HOW IT COMPARES
Versus the C-1 FR-S Pale Moon
The standard C-1 Pale Moon and C-1 FR-S Pale Moon share much of the same premium foundation, including the Pale Moon Ebony top, neck-thru construction, Ultra Thin neck, Richlite compound-radius fingerboard and stainless steel frets.
The major difference is the bridge and neck pickup configuration.
The standard C-1 Pale Moon uses:
-
Schecter Nouveau Ergo hardtail bridge
-
Dual Brimstone-6 humbuckers
-
Push-pull coil splitting
-
Graph Tech nut
The FR-S Pale Moon instead features:
-
Floyd Rose 1500 tremolo
-
Sustainiac neck system
-
Brimstone-6 bridge pickup
-
Locking nut
Choose the standard C-1 if tuning simplicity, dual conventional humbuckers and alternate-tuning flexibility are priorities.
Choose the FR-S if Sustainiac effects and extreme tremolo techniques are essential to your playing.
Versus a Conventional C-1
The Pale Moon model stands apart through both its exotic materials and premium performance specification.
The Pale Moon Ebony top creates a naturally individual appearance, while neck-thru construction, stainless steel frets, premium tuners and Brimstone pickups position it well above a basic C-1 configuration.
Versus a Floyd Rose Guitar
A Floyd Rose is the better choice for players who rely heavily on dive-bombs, pull-ups and extreme pitch effects.
The hardtail C-1 Pale Moon is substantially easier when:
-
Restringing
-
Changing tunings
-
Changing string gauges
-
Performing routine setup work
For a player who rarely uses a tremolo arm, the hardtail arrangement is likely to be the more practical choice.
Versus an Active-Pickup Metal Guitar
The C-1 Pale Moon uses passive Brimstone-6 pickups.
This means there is no battery required for normal operation, while the push-pull coil split provides an additional degree of tonal flexibility.
Players who want powerful modern tones without committing to an active pickup system may find this configuration particularly appealing.

🎵 FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★
Best suited for: Intermediate to professional rock and metal players who want premium modern Schecter playability, an exotic top and straightforward hardtail hardware.
Customers usually upgrade from: Mid-range Schecter, Ibanez, Jackson and similar performance guitars where stainless steel fretwork, neck-thru construction, premium pickups and improved upper-fret access have become priorities.
Most commonly paired with: High-gain valve amplifiers, modelling systems, overdrive or boost pedals, noise gates, delay and reverb effects and a quality protective hardcase.
Our tip: The standard Pale Moon may actually be the stronger choice than the FR-S for players who rarely use a tremolo. You retain the exotic top, neck-thru construction, stainless steel frets and exceptionally fast neck while gaining easier restringing and much simpler tuning changes.
Showroom feedback: The Pale Moon Ebony top is naturally the first thing that attracts attention, but the real strength of this guitar is underneath the finish. The Ultra Thin neck, compound radius, stainless frets and smooth neck-thru upper access give it the genuinely premium feel expected from a high-performance Schecter.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Pale Moon Ebony?
Pale Moon Ebony is an exotic wood recognised for its dramatic natural contrast between pale areas and darker charcoal or black figuring.
The pattern varies naturally from one piece of wood to another, so individual guitars will have their own visual character.
Is every Schecter C-1 Pale Moon identical?
No. Because genuine wood figuring varies naturally, the exact appearance of the Pale Moon Ebony top will differ between individual guitars.
What is the official finish?
The C-1 Pale Moon is finished in Satin Natural Black Burst.
What pickups does it use?

What is the neck made from?
The neck is constructed from seven pieces of maple, walnut and padauk.

Yes. The fixed hardtail bridge makes alternate tunings relatively straightforward.
For substantially lower tunings, heavier strings and an appropriate setup may be required to maintain suitable tension and intonation.
Is this suitable for metal?
Yes. The Brimstone-6 pickups, 25.5" scale, 24-fret neck and modern performance specification make the C-1 Pale Moon particularly well suited to rock and metal.
Is a hardcase included?
