Description

This item is an B-Stock due to the back of the body being finished in the wrong colour (Satin black finish rather natural with clear coat)

INTRODUCTION

The Schecter Omen Elite-6 FR in See-Thru Blue Burst combines aggressive modern styling, high-output humbuckers and a locking Floyd Rose tremolo with the fast, comfortable feel that has made Schecter a favourite among rock and metal players.

Built around a mahogany body with an eye-catching burl top, the Omen Elite-6 FR balances substantial rhythm tones with the articulation required for lead playing. A bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, Thin “C” profile and 24 X-Jumbo frets provide a quick, accessible playing platform, while dual Schecter Diamond Heretic humbuckers deliver the punch and definition needed for high-gain amplification.

The Floyd Rose Special ‘Hot Rod’ locking tremolo adds another dimension, allowing expressive pitch effects, dive-bombs and pull-ups while maintaining the double-locking design preferred by players who make extensive use of a tremolo.

This example is offered as B-Stock, creating an opportunity to access the Omen Elite-6 FR specification at a more attractive price.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

The Omen Elite-6 FR sits in an appealing position for players who want a serious modern rock and metal guitar without immediately stepping into Schecter’s higher-priced professional ranges. The Thin “C” neck, 24-fret fingerboard and high-output Heretic pickups give it the fundamental performance features expected from a contemporary Schecter.

The Floyd Rose system also makes this particular version significantly more expressive than the hardtail Omen Elite-6. If dive-bombs, harmonic squeals, dramatic vibrato and other tremolo techniques form an important part of your playing, the FR model is the natural choice.

DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS

Mahogany Body with Burl Top

The Omen Elite-6 FR starts with a mahogany body, topped with an attractive burl surface that becomes a major part of the guitar’s visual identity.

The See-Thru Blue Burst finish allows the irregular burl figuring to remain visible beneath the colour, creating a more distinctive appearance than a conventional opaque finish.

Black binding and black hardware provide contrast without distracting from the figuring of the top.

The familiar Schecter double-cutaway body shape also provides a comfortable balance whether playing seated or standing.

Schecter Diamond Heretic Pickups

The Omen Elite-6 FR is fitted with a pair of Schecter Diamond Heretic humbuckers.

These pickups are voiced with modern high-gain playing firmly in mind, producing the output and attack required for distorted rhythm tones while retaining enough definition to keep individual notes audible within complex chords.

The bridge pickup is particularly effective for palm-muted rhythm work, riffs and aggressive lead tones, while the neck pickup provides a fuller response for solos, melodic playing and cleaner sounds.

A five-way selector expands the available pickup combinations beyond a conventional three-way HH layout, giving the Omen Elite-6 FR additional tonal flexibility.

Floyd Rose Special ‘Hot Rod’ Locking Tremolo

One of the defining features of this version is the Floyd Rose Special ‘Hot Rod’ locking tremolo, a Schecter-exclusive configuration.

Unlike a conventional non-locking tremolo, the Floyd Rose system locks the strings at both the bridge and nut. This helps maintain tuning stability when using more extreme pitch effects.

For players interested in classic dive-bombs, pull-ups, flutter effects, dramatic chord drops and expressive lead vibrato, this is a major advantage.

Fine tuners built into the bridge allow small tuning adjustments to be made after the locking nut has been secured.

When a Floyd Rose Makes Sense

A locking tremolo is particularly valuable if the tremolo is going to be an active part of your playing technique.

Players influenced by modern metal, hard rock and technically focused lead guitar styles can use the bridge for effects that simply are not possible to the same degree with a conventional fixed bridge.

There is a trade-off: changing strings and making substantial tuning changes requires more care than on a hardtail guitar.

If you regularly change between several drastically different tunings, a fixed-bridge Omen Elite may be more convenient. If tremolo performance matters more, the FR version is the more capable instrument.

Thin “C” Maple Neck

The bolt-on maple neck uses Schecter’s familiar Thin “C” profile.

It measures approximately 20mm thick at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth, providing a relatively streamlined playing surface that works particularly well for modern rhythm and lead techniques.

The profile gives players enough substance to maintain control without feeling overly bulky during faster playing.

For guitarists moving from another modern Schecter, Ibanez, Jackson or similar performance-oriented instrument, the overall neck concept should feel familiar.

Rosewood Fingerboard

The maple neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard featuring understated Pearloid Line position markers.

A 14-inch fingerboard radius creates a relatively flat playing surface compared with more traditionally styled electric guitars.

That flatter feel suits modern techniques such as:

  • Fast alternate picking

  • Legato

  • Tapping

  • Wide string bends

  • Sweep picking

  • Technical chord work

  • High-speed lead playing

It also complements the Thin “C” neck particularly well.

24 X-Jumbo Frets

The Omen Elite-6 FR provides 24 X-Jumbo frets, giving two complete octaves on each string.

The larger fret size reduces the amount of finger contact required with the fingerboard when fretting notes, helping bends and vibrato feel smooth and direct.

Having a complete 24-fret range is also particularly useful for players writing or performing modern lead material where access beyond the traditional 21- or 22-fret range is required.

25.5-Inch Scale Length

A 25.5-inch scale length gives the Omen Elite-6 FR a familiar modern feel.

It provides a useful balance between comfortable bending and sufficient string tension for articulate rhythm playing.

The factory .010–.046 string set is an established choice for standard and moderately lowered tunings, while players going substantially lower may prefer heavier strings and an appropriate setup.

Five-Way Pickup Selection

Rather than limiting the guitar to a standard neck/both/bridge three-way selector, Schecter uses a five-way switch.

This gives the Omen Elite-6 FR additional tonal options from its two-humbucker configuration and makes it more versatile than its aggressive appearance might initially suggest.

That flexibility can be useful when moving between heavily distorted rhythm tones, lead sounds and cleaner passages within the same set.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The Schecter Omen Elite-6 FR is particularly well suited to intermediate and advanced players looking for a modern performance guitar with a Floyd Rose locking tremolo.

It is an excellent choice for:

  • Modern metal

  • Heavy metal

  • Hard rock

  • Metalcore

  • Progressive metal

  • Alternative rock

  • Lead guitar

  • Technical rhythm playing

  • High-gain recording

  • Players learning Floyd Rose techniques

  • Guitarists upgrading from an entry-level metal guitar

  • Players who want 24 frets and a fast neck

  • Guitarists who actively use tremolo effects

It can also work well as an introduction to locking-tremolo guitars for players who have previously owned only fixed-bridge instruments.

PLAYING STYLES & APPLICATIONS

Modern Metal Rhythm

The combination of Diamond Heretic pickups, a 25.5" scale and mahogany body gives the Omen Elite-6 FR a strong foundation for high-gain rhythm guitar.

The bridge pickup provides the attack required for palm-muted riffs while the longer Fender-style scale length keeps the strings feeling controlled during faster passages.

Lead Guitar

This is where the Floyd Rose version separates itself most clearly from the hardtail Omen Elite.

The combination of a Thin “C” neck, 14" fingerboard radius, 24 X-Jumbo frets and locking tremolo makes it particularly well suited to expressive modern lead guitar.

Dive-bombs, harmonic squeals, pull-ups and aggressive tremolo effects can all become part of the instrument rather than requiring additional effects.

Hard Rock

The guitar does not have to be used exclusively for extreme metal.

The Heretic humbuckers and tremolo system also make it a natural fit for hard rock styles where powerful rhythm tones and expressive lead work are equally important.

Recording

The Omen Elite-6 FR works particularly well with high-gain valve amps, modelling processors and software amp systems.

Its dual-humbucker configuration provides an immediately familiar recording platform, while the five-way switching allows additional textures to be accessed without changing guitars.

HOW IT COMPARES

Versus the Standard Omen Elite-6

The main difference is the bridge.

The standard Omen Elite-6 uses a fixed hardtail arrangement, making string changes and alternate-tuning adjustments straightforward.

The Omen Elite-6 FR uses a Floyd Rose locking tremolo, trading some of that simplicity for much greater pitch-control capability.

Choose the hardtail if tuning simplicity is the priority. Choose the FR if tremolo techniques form an important part of your playing.

Versus the Standard Schecter Omen-6

The Elite model introduces a more elaborate visual treatment and upgraded specification, including the burl top and Schecter Diamond Heretic pickups.

It is a logical progression for players who like the basic Omen formula but want a more distinctive instrument with a stronger performance-oriented specification.

Versus a Fixed-Bridge Metal Guitar

A fixed bridge is generally easier to maintain and better suited to players who constantly switch between radically different tunings.

The Omen Elite-6 FR is instead designed for the guitarist who genuinely intends to use the tremolo.

If dramatic pitch manipulation is part of your playing style, the Floyd Rose gives the Schecter capabilities that a fixed bridge cannot reproduce.

🎵 FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★

Best suited for: Modern rock and metal guitarists looking for a fast-playing six-string with high-output humbuckers and a proper double-locking tremolo.

Customers usually upgrade from: Entry-level HH electric guitars or basic Schecter Omen models where improved pickups, a more distinctive finish and Floyd Rose functionality are the next priorities.

Most commonly paired with: High-gain amplifiers, modelling systems, boost or overdrive pedals, noise gates and delay/reverb effects for lead playing.

Our tip: Buy the FR version because you want to use the Floyd Rose, not simply because it looks impressive. For players who incorporate dive-bombs, pull-ups and expressive tremolo techniques, it is a major advantage. If you constantly change tunings and rarely touch the tremolo arm, the hardtail Omen Elite-6 may be the easier guitar to live with.

Showroom feedback: The Omen Elite range offers a convincing step up for players who want a distinctly modern Schecter without immediately moving into the brand’s higher-priced models. The combination of the Thin “C” neck and 24 X-Jumbo frets makes the FR particularly appealing to lead-focused players.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the Schecter Omen Elite-6 FR suitable for metal?

Yes. The Diamond Heretic humbuckers, Thin “C” neck, 24-fret fingerboard and Floyd Rose locking tremolo make it particularly well suited to modern metal and hard rock.

What does FR mean in Omen Elite-6 FR?

FR refers to the Floyd Rose tremolo system.

This model uses a Floyd Rose Special ‘Hot Rod’ locking tremolo rather than the fixed bridge fitted to the standard Omen Elite-6.

Can the Floyd Rose do dive-bombs?

Yes. The double-locking tremolo is designed to handle substantial pitch changes, including dive-bombs, pull-ups and other expressive tremolo techniques.

Is a Floyd Rose difficult to maintain?

It requires a little more knowledge than a fixed bridge.

Routine string changes are straightforward once you understand the system, but changing string gauges or moving to substantially different tunings can require additional balancing and setup work.

What pickups does it have?

The guitar uses two Schecter Diamond Heretic humbuckers.

They are designed around modern, high-output tones and are particularly effective with distorted amplification.

Does it use active pickups?

No. The Diamond Heretic pickups fitted to the Omen Elite-6 FR are passive, so the guitar does not require a battery for normal operation.

How many frets does it have?

It has 24 X-Jumbo frets, providing two complete octaves on each string.

What is the scale length?

The Omen Elite-6 FR uses a 25.5-inch scale length.

Is it suitable for lower tunings?

Yes, although significantly lowered tunings may benefit from heavier strings and a dedicated setup.

Remember that changing string tension substantially on a Floyd Rose-equipped guitar may require the tremolo system to be rebalanced.

Does it have a locking nut?

Yes. The guitar uses a Floyd Rose Special locking nut as part of its double-locking tremolo system.

What does the five-way pickup switch do?

The five-way selector gives the Omen Elite-6 FR more tonal options than a conventional three-way twin-humbucker setup, adding useful versatility for cleaner and lower-output sounds alongside its primary high-gain tones.

Does it come with a hardcase?

No. Schecter lists the SGR-1C C-Shape hardcase separately.

What does B-Stock mean?

This particular guitar is offered in the B-Stock category rather than as standard new retail stock.

Its underlying Schecter specification remains unchanged. Please refer to the individual product photography when assessing the cosmetic presentation of this particular guitar.

Can I part exchange another guitar against it?

Yes. Fair Deal Music welcomes part-exchange enquiries. Contact our team with information about your existing guitar or other equipment for a no-obligation valuation.
