Squier Joe Trohman Signature Telecaster 2-Tone Sunburst, (Used, Comm)
Description
The Squier Joe Trohman Signature Telecaster is an unusually versatile Artist Series model developed with Joe Trohman of Fall Out Boy and The Damned Things, taking inspiration from the early-1970s Telecaster Deluxe while adding a distinctive three-pickup configuration and expanded switching.
Built with an alder body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, the Joe Trohman Telecaster features an HSH pickup layout consisting of open-coil humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions with a Strat-style single coil in the middle.
A 5-position rotary pickup selector provides a broad range of combinations, while a dedicated upper-bout kill switch allows the output to be instantly muted for rhythmic and stutter-style effects.
Finished in 2-Tone Sunburst, this is a distinctive discontinued Squier signature model with considerably more tonal flexibility than a conventional Telecaster.
This example is Pre-Owned.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
The Joe Trohman Telecaster is far more versatile than its traditional T-style shape initially suggests.
The combination of two humbuckers and a middle single coil allows it to cover thick rock tones, brighter combined-pickup sounds and more open clean textures from one guitar.
The rotary selector and dedicated kill switch also make it considerably more distinctive than a normal Telecaster, both functionally and visually.
DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS
Joe Trohman Signature Model
Designed in collaboration with Joe Trohman, guitarist with Fall Out Boy and The Damned Things, this signature model reflects his preference for a Telecaster-style platform with significantly expanded tonal options.
Alder Body
The body is made from alder, providing a balanced tonal foundation with clear mids and good attack.
2-Tone Sunburst Finish
The factory 2-Tone Sunburst finish gives the guitar a classic appearance that contrasts nicely with its unconventional pickup arrangement and black hardware details.
Maple Neck
The bolt-on maple neck provides the direct attack and familiar feel associated with Fender and Squier construction.
C-Shaped Neck Profile
The traditional C-shaped profile provides a comfortable all-round neck shape suited to both rhythm and lead playing.
Rosewood Fingerboard
The rosewood fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface and traditional appearance.
12" Fingerboard Radius
The relatively flat 12" radius makes string bending and faster lead work comfortable.
25.5" Scale Length
The familiar 25.5" scale length provides clear articulation and traditional Fender-style string tension.
22 Jumbo Frets
The guitar uses 22 jumbo frets, making bends and technical playing comfortable.
HSH PICKUP CONFIGURATION
The Joe Trohman Telecaster uses an unusual HSH pickup arrangement.
Bridge Humbucker
The open-coil bridge humbucker provides the most aggressive voice, with the output and midrange needed for rock, punk and heavier driven sounds.
Middle Single Coil
The Strat-style middle pickup adds a brighter and more open tonal option.
It also combines with either humbucker for additional textures.
Neck Humbucker
The neck humbucker provides a warmer, rounder voice for clean playing, blues and smoother lead tones.
5-POSITION ROTARY PICKUP SELECTOR
Rather than a conventional blade or toggle switch, the guitar uses a 5-position rotary selector.
The factory switching provides:
-
Position 1 – Bridge pickup
-
Position 2 – Bridge + middle pickups
-
Position 3 – Middle pickup
-
Position 4 – Middle + neck pickups
-
Position 5 – Neck pickup
This makes the guitar highly versatile despite its straightforward passive electronics.
DEDICATED KILL SWITCH
A 2-position toggle on the upper bout acts as a kill switch.
This allows the signal to be instantly muted and restored, making rhythmic stutter effects possible directly from the guitar.
INDIVIDUAL VOLUME CONTROL SYSTEM
The Joe Trohman model uses a more unusual control layout than a normal Telecaster.
One Volume control handles the neck pickup and neck/middle combination, while the second handles the bridge pickup and bridge/middle combination.
A Master Tone provides overall treble adjustment.
HARDTAIL STRING-THROUGH BRIDGE
The vintage-style 6-saddle string-through hardtail bridge provides individual intonation adjustment and straightforward tuning stability.
LARGE '68-STYLE HEADSTOCK
The guitar uses a distinctive large late-1960s-style Stratocaster headstock, helping differentiate it visually from a standard Telecaster.
Joe Trohman's signature appears on the rear.

HOW IT COMPARES
Joe Trohman Telecaster vs Standard Telecaster
A traditional Telecaster normally uses two single-coil pickups and a 3-way blade selector.
The Joe Trohman model uses three pickups in an HSH arrangement, 5-way rotary switching and a kill switch, giving it significantly more tonal options.
Joe Trohman Telecaster vs Telecaster Deluxe
The model takes visual inspiration from the Telecaster Deluxe family but departs substantially from the standard dual-humbucker configuration by adding a Strat-style middle pickup and more complex switching.
HSH vs Traditional SS Telecaster
The humbuckers provide greater output and thicker mids than traditional Tele single coils, while the middle pickup helps retain access to brighter sounds.

FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★
Best suited for: Rock and alternative players wanting significantly more tonal versatility than a conventional Telecaster, particularly those who value humbuckers and creative kill-switch effects.
Customers usually upgrade from: Standard Squier Telecasters, entry-level dual-humbucker guitars and conventional HSS or HSH electrics.
Most commonly paired with: Overdrive, distortion, boost, delay, reverb and higher-gain guitar amplifiers.
Our tip: The rotary selector is worth learning rather than treating this purely as a dual-humbucker guitar. Positions 2 and 4 add the middle single coil and provide some of the most distinctive sounds on the instrument.
Showroom feedback: This is one of Squier's more unusual Artist Series Telecasters. The combination of HSH pickups, rotary switching and dedicated kill switch gives it features rarely found together on any conventional Tele-style guitar.
