Its established design makes it an appealing alternative to purchasing a brand-new student instrument.

Albert Cooper Scale for Improved Intonation

One of the defining features of this flute is its Cooper Scale design. Developed by British flute maker Albert Cooper, the system introduced refinements to tone-hole placement and sizing to improve intonation and consistency across the instrument's range. This design helps provide a reliable foundation for developing accurate pitch control, making it particularly beneficial for students learning to play alongside other musicians and instruments.

Clear and Expressive Concert Flute Tone

The Buffet Crampon 861E offers the familiar bright, articulate tonal character of a traditional concert flute. Its responsive acoustic design allows players to explore delicate melodic passages, expressive dynamics and more projecting musical phrases. Whether used for classical repertoire, school ensembles, concert band arrangements or personal practice, the flute provides the versatility required for a wide variety of musical applications.

Traditional Flute Keywork

The 861E features conventional mechanical flute keywork, providing a familiar playing layout for musicians learning standard concert flute fingering. This traditional configuration makes the instrument suitable for developing finger coordination, articulation and technical accuracy, while supporting progression through more advanced repertoire.

Ideal for Students and Returning Players

With its traditional playing design and recognised Cooper Scale, the Buffet Crampon 861E is an appealing choice for musicians at different stages of their development. Students can benefit from its familiar layout when learning fundamental techniques, while returning players will appreciate the opportunity to reacquaint themselves with a traditional acoustic flute without investing in a more expensive new instrument.

Good Playing Performance

This particular Buffet Crampon 861E has been described as playing well, making it an attractive pre-owned option for musicians seeking a playable instrument. As with any used woodwind instrument, prospective buyers should examine the photographs to assess its overall cosmetic appearance.
