Description
Quick Product Summary
The VOX AC15C1 Custom is a 15-watt all-valve guitar combo built around one of the most recognisable British amplifier sounds ever created. With a pair of EL84 power valves driving a 12" Celestion G12M Greenback, it delivers everything from clear, chiming cleans to harmonically rich valve overdrive with plenty of character and response.
Separate Normal and Top Boost channels, onboard spring reverb and classic VOX tremolo make the AC15C1 a versatile choice for home, studio, rehearsal and live use. Individual channel volumes work alongside the Master Volume, allowing players to push the preamp harder while retaining useful control over overall output level.
What Makes the VOX AC15C1 Custom Special?
The AC15 has been part of the VOX story since 1958, and the AC15C1 carries that heritage into a practical modern combo. Its Top Boost channel provides the bright articulation and expressive upper-mid response strongly associated with VOX, while the Normal channel offers a simpler, direct tonal path. The Master Tone Cut gives further control over the amplifier's overall high-frequency character.
A genuine Celestion G12M Greenback gives the AC15C1 a warm, responsive speaker voice that works particularly well as the amplifier begins to break up. Add spring reverb, valve-driven character and adjustable tremolo, and the result is a compact amplifier capable of covering sparkling cleans, edge-of-breakup rhythm sounds and classic British overdrive.

FAQs
Is the VOX AC15C1 a valve amplifier?
Yes. The AC15C1 is an all-valve amplifier using three 12AX7/ECC83 preamp valves and two EL84 power valves, giving it the compression, harmonic response and playing dynamics associated with traditional valve amplification.
What speaker does the AC15C1 use?
The standard AC15C1 is fitted with a single 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speaker.
How loud is a 15-watt valve amp?
The AC15C1 can produce substantial volume and is capable of rehearsal and live use in many settings. Valve amplifier wattage should not be compared directly with the perceived volume of many small solid-state practice amplifiers.
Can the VOX AC15C1 produce overdrive without a pedal?
Yes. Increasing the relevant channel volume while balancing it against the Master Volume allows the amplifier to move from cleaner tones into natural valve overdrive.
What is the difference between the Normal and Top Boost channels?
The Normal channel offers a simpler signal path with its own Volume control. The Top Boost channel adds independent Treble and Bass controls, providing greater tonal shaping and the bright, articulate character strongly associated with classic VOX amplifiers.
Does the AC15C1 have built-in reverb?
Yes. The AC15C1 includes spring reverb, allowing ambience to be added without an external reverb pedal.
Does it have built-in tremolo?
Yes. Classic VOX tremolo is built in, with independent Speed and Depth controls.
Is the AC15C1 good with effects pedals?
Yes. Its clean and edge-of-breakup sounds make it a strong platform for overdrive, boost, fuzz, delay, modulation and other effects.
Does the VOX AC15C1 have an effects loop?
No. The standard AC15C1 does not feature a dedicated send-and-return effects loop.
Can I connect an external speaker cabinet?
Yes. The amplifier provides both external and extension speaker connections for use with suitable cabinets. Correct impedance matching should always be observed.
Is a footswitch included?
No. A compatible VOX footswitch is an optional accessory and is sold separately.
Is the AC15C1 suitable for home recording?
Yes. Its responsive valve circuit, built-in effects and distinctive speaker character make it an excellent recording amplifier. As with any valve amplifier, achieving heavily driven power-stage tones can involve significant volume.
