FLAGSHIP GRANDTOUCH KEYBOARD

The CSP-295GP uses Yamaha’s:

GrandTouch keyboard.

This premium 88-note action incorporates:

  • Wooden white keys

  • Synthetic ivory white-key surfaces

  • Synthetic ebony black-key surfaces

  • Escapement

  • Counterweights

  • 88-key Linear Graded Hammers

It is designed to provide the broad dynamic range and detailed control expected from a premium piano.

88-KEY LINEAR GRADED HAMMERS

The CSP-295GP features:

88-key Linear Graded Hammers.

Rather than dividing the keyboard into only a small number of broad weight zones, hammer weighting changes progressively across all 88 keys.

This creates a more nuanced progression from the heavier bass register towards the lighter treble.

COUNTERWEIGHTS

The GrandTouch action also incorporates:

Counterweights.

These help optimise key movement and control, particularly during delicate passages and expressive playing.

Together with the Linear Graded Hammer system, this places the CSP-295GP at the top end of Yamaha’s CSP keyboard specification.

ESCAPEMENT

GrandTouch incorporates an escapement sensation designed to recreate the subtle tactile feedback associated with playing very softly on an acoustic grand piano.

YAMAHA CFX CONCERT GRAND

The CSP-295GP features the sound of Yamaha’s flagship:

CFX Concert Grand.

The CFX provides a powerful, clear and expressive concert-grand character suitable for everything from advanced classical repertoire to contemporary piano.

BÖSENDORFER IMPERIAL

Alongside the Yamaha CFX is the:

Bösendorfer Imperial.

Bösendorfer is Yamaha’s historic Viennese piano marque.

Its rich, warm tonal personality provides a distinctive alternative to the Yamaha CFX.

BINAURAL SAMPLING

Both the:

Yamaha CFX

and:

Bösendorfer Imperial

feature binaural sampling for an immersive headphone experience.

Binaural sampling is designed to reproduce a natural spatial perspective around the pianist rather than making the sound appear to originate directly inside the headphones.

VIRTUAL RESONANCE MODELING – VRM

Yamaha’s:

Virtual Resonance Modeling – VRM

recreates the complex sympathetic resonance behaviour of an acoustic piano.

Strings, soundboard, cabinet and pedals interact continuously on a real piano.

VRM models these relationships dynamically, helping the instrument respond organically according to the notes being played and the way the pedals are being used.

GRAND EXPRESSION MODELING

Grand Expression Modeling helps reproduce the relationship between the pianist’s physical touch and the resulting tonal response.

Combined with the GrandTouch keyboard, subtle differences in technique can therefore translate into greater musical expression.

KEY-OFF SAMPLES & SMOOTH RELEASE

The CSP-295GP incorporates:

Key-Off Samples

and:

Smooth Release.

These technologies reproduce subtle tonal details associated with the way notes are released, adding another layer of realism to the piano experience.

256-NOTE POLYPHONY

Maximum polyphony is:

256 notes.

This provides substantial capacity for:

  • Complex piano repertoire

  • Extensive pedal use

  • Layered Voices

  • Automatic accompaniment

  • MIDI playback

  • Multi-part arrangements

872 VOICES + 47 DRUM/SFX KITS

The CSP-295GP is much more than an acoustic piano simulator.

It provides:

872 Voices

plus:

47 Drum/SFX Kits.

That gives a huge sound library covering categories including:

  • Acoustic pianos

  • Electric pianos

  • Organs

  • Strings

  • Brass

  • Woodwind

  • Guitars

  • Bass

  • Synthesizers

  • Choirs

  • Percussion

  • Orchestral instruments

  • World instruments

  • Drum kits

  • Sound effects

This enormous sound library transforms the CSP-295GP from a premium piano into a remarkably versatile creative instrument.

525 ACCOMPANIMENT STYLES

The CSP-295GP includes:

525 accompaniment Styles.

These provide sophisticated backing arrangements that respond to the chords you play.

Style categories cover a broad range of musical genres, allowing you to perform with accompaniment resembling a complete backing band.

Each Style provides:

  • Intro

  • Ending

  • Four Main variations

  • Four Fill In variations

YOUR PERSONAL BACKING BAND

Automatic accompaniment can provide parts including:

  • Drums

  • Bass

  • Guitar

  • Keyboard

  • Strings

  • Brass

  • Other instrumentation

according to the selected Style.

Play the harmony and the CSP can create a responsive backing arrangement around you.

For solo performers, singers, songwriters and players who simply enjoy making music at home, this is one of the biggest distinctions between the CSP and a conventional piano-focused Clavinova.

403 PRESET SONGS

The CSP-295GP provides:

403 preset Songs.

These can be used for:

  • Listening

  • Learning

  • Playing along

  • Practice

  • Exploring different musical styles

SMART PIANIST

At the centre of the CSP experience is Yamaha’s:

Smart Pianist

app.

Rather than covering the piano itself with a large control panel, Yamaha places detailed control within a compatible smartphone or tablet.

Smart Pianist provides intuitive access to functions including:

  • Voice selection

  • Styles

  • Songs

  • Piano settings

  • Recording

  • Accompaniment

  • Learning features

  • Music playback

  • Audio to Score

The result is a sophisticated instrument that retains a clean, piano-like physical appearance.

STREAM LIGHTS

One of the CSP Series’ signature learning technologies is:

Stream Lights.

Lights above the keyboard indicate which notes should be played.

The system provides:

Four-step guidance.

This creates an intuitive visual route into learning songs and can be particularly useful for developing players.

AUDIO TO SCORE

Audio to Score is one of the CSP Series’ standout Smart Pianist features.

The system analyses compatible music on your smart device and automatically creates a piano accompaniment score.

This allows you to explore and play along with music you already enjoy rather than being restricted solely to the instrument's built-in song library.

LESSON & GUIDE FUNCTIONS

The CSP-295GP provides Yamaha guide functions including:

  • Correct Key

  • Any Key

  • Karao-Key

  • Your Tempo

Together with Stream Lights, these provide several approaches to learning and practising music.

PIANO ROOM

Piano Room provides a dedicated environment for quickly accessing and adjusting piano-focused settings.

This makes it easy to return to a straightforward premium piano experience even though the CSP contains an enormous range of additional functionality.

MICROPHONE INPUT

A dedicated:

Mic/Line input

allows a suitable microphone to be connected directly to the CSP-295GP.

Input volume can be adjusted to suit the connected source.

This turns the instrument into a complete piano, accompaniment and vocal-performance system.

VOCAL HARMONY

The CSP-295GP provides:

44 Vocal Harmony types.

Connect a suitable microphone and the instrument can add harmony processing to your singing.

Combined with automatic accompaniment, this gives singer-pianists a particularly powerful performance setup.

16-TRACK MIDI RECORDING

The CSP-295GP supports:

16-track MIDI recording.

Multi-track recording makes it possible to build arrangements part by part rather than recording only a single piano performance.

This can be useful for:

  • Composition

  • Arranging

  • Songwriting

  • Practice

  • Teaching

  • Creative production

AUDIO FEATURES

The CSP platform also provides sophisticated audio functionality through compatible Smart Pianist workflows.

Features include:

  • WAV

  • AAC

  • Time Stretch

  • Pitch Shift

  • Melody Suppressor

These give players powerful tools for practising and performing with existing music.

TIME STRETCH

Time Stretch allows compatible audio playback speed to be adjusted without simply changing musical pitch.

This can be extremely useful when learning difficult passages.

PITCH SHIFT

Pitch Shift allows compatible audio to be transposed.

This can be particularly useful for singers or instrumentalists who need music moved into a more suitable key.

MELODY SUPPRESSOR

Melody Suppressor can reduce the prominence of centrally positioned lead material in compatible audio.

This can make it easier to play or sing the lead part yourself.

GRANDTOUCH PEDALS

The CSP-295GP features:

GrandTouch pedals.

The three pedals provide:

  • Damper

  • Sostenuto

  • Soft

The damper supports half-pedalling.

GP RESPONSE DAMPER

The damper pedal incorporates Yamaha’s:

GP Response Damper.

This is designed to reproduce the changing pedal resistance experienced on an acoustic grand piano.

For serious pianists, it gives pedalling a more natural physical response.

GRAND ACOUSTIC IMAGING

The CSP-295GP uses Yamaha’s:

Grand Acoustic Imaging

approach to create a broad and immersive sound field around the pianist.

Careful speaker positioning, cabinet acoustics and acoustic technologies help different frequency ranges appear to radiate naturally from the instrument.

FLAGSHIP GRAND-STYLE SPEAKER SYSTEM

The CSP-295GP incorporates a powerful multi-way speaker architecture.

Amplification is:

(50W + 50W + 40W) × 2

giving a total rated amplifier output of:

280 watts.

Speaker configuration is:

(16cm + 8cm + 2.5cm dome with Waveguide) × 2 + 20cm

with technologies including:

  • Spruce Cone Speaker

  • Waveguides

  • Twisted Flare Port

This powerful system takes advantage of the grand-style cabinet to create an expansive acoustic presentation.

SPRUCE CONE SPEAKER

The CSP-295GP incorporates Yamaha’s:

Spruce Cone Speaker

technology.

Spruce is also fundamental to traditional acoustic-piano soundboard construction and forms part of Yamaha’s approach to producing a natural piano presentation.

TWISTED FLARE PORT

The grand-style CSP-295GP also incorporates a:

Twisted Flare Port.

This technology is designed to optimise low-frequency airflow and contributes to the instrument’s powerful bass reproduction.

INTELLIGENT ACOUSTIC CONTROL

Intelligent Acoustic Control – IAC helps preserve tonal balance when playing at reduced volume.

This is particularly useful for home playing where the full output of the powerful speaker system may not always be appropriate.

HEADPHONE PRACTICE

Two standard stereo headphone connections are provided.

For the CFX and Bösendorfer piano Voices, binaural sampling creates an immersive private-practice experience.

Stereophonic Optimizer also helps provide a more natural headphone presentation with suitable other Voices.

BLUETOOTH AUDIO & MIDI

The CSP-295GP supports:

  • Bluetooth Audio

  • Bluetooth MIDI

subject to regional availability.

Bluetooth Audio allows compatible devices to stream music wirelessly through the piano's built-in sound system.

Bluetooth MIDI provides wireless communication with compatible applications and devices.

CONNECTIVITY

The CSP-295GP provides extensive connectivity including:

  • 2 × standard stereo headphone outputs

  • Mic/Line input

  • Input volume control

  • MIDI IN

  • MIDI OUT

Choose the CLP-895GP when your priority is a more dedicated piano-focused Clavinova experience.

🎵 FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★

Best suited for: Pianists and families who want a genuinely premium piano but also want far more than traditional piano functionality — particularly interactive learning, backing Styles, singing, arranging and Smart Pianist integration.

Likely upgrade path: Existing CSP owners, premium arranger-piano users, older Clavinova CVP/CSP owners and players moving from a conventional digital piano who want a dramatically broader creative feature set.

Useful pairings: A compatible tablet running Yamaha Smart Pianist, quality headphones for private practice, a suitable vocal microphone and appropriate USB accessories.

Our tip: Don't think of the CSP-295GP simply as a CLP with extra sounds. Its whole operating philosophy is different. Smart Pianist, Stream Lights, 525 Styles, Audio to Score, microphone input and Vocal Harmony make it a much more interactive instrument. If those features appeal to you, the CSP can do things a conventional piano-focused digital instrument simply isn't designed to do.

FDM view: The CSP-295GP is one of Yamaha's most complete home music instruments. It combines a serious GrandTouch piano action and world-class CFX/Bösendorfer piano sounds with technology that can help a developing player learn, give an experienced player a sophisticated backing band, accompany a singer and provide a huge palette for songwriting and arranging. The Polished Ebony grand-style cabinet gives all of that technology the timeless visual presence of a traditional black grand piano.

Should I choose CSP or CLP?

Choose CSP if you want premium piano performance plus interactive learning, extensive Voices, automatic accompaniment, microphone and vocal functionality and Smart Pianist-centred control.

Choose CLP if your priority is a more traditional, piano-focused Clavinova experience.

Should I choose CSP or CVP?

The CSP centres much of its advanced operation around Yamaha Smart Pianist on a compatible smart device.
