Description
Yamaha DXS15 mk3 15" Powered Subwoofer
The Yamaha DXS15 mk3 is a powerful 15" active PA subwoofer designed for live sound, DJs, venues, schools, houses of worship, rehearsal spaces, event production and mobile PA users who need deeper, stronger low-end reinforcement than a compact 12" subwoofer can provide. Sitting in the middle of Yamaha’s DXS mk3 range, it offers an excellent balance of bass performance, portability and professional control.
Built around a 15" cone driver with a 3" voice coil, a newly developed 2500W Class-D amplifier and an efficient band-pass cabinet design, the DXS15 mk3 is designed to deliver deep, clear and controlled low-frequency output for demanding sound reinforcement setups. Yamaha lists the DXS mk3 series with a 2kW-class amp design, 96kHz DSP, D-XSUB processing, user-editable EQ/crossover settings and cardioid options for real-world bass control.
With a maximum output of 133dB SPL and D-XSUB processing that can extend the frequency response down to 35Hz, the DXS15 mk3 is a strong choice for users who want serious bass impact without moving up to the larger DXS18 mk3.
Why Choose The Yamaha DXS15 mk3?
Deeper 15" Bass Performance
The DXS15 mk3 gives you more low-end depth and physical impact than a smaller 12" subwoofer, making it well suited to DJs, full bands, venues, playback systems and live sound setups that need stronger bass reinforcement.
2500W Class-D Amplification
The newly developed 2500W Class-D amplifier gives the DXS15 mk3 serious power and headroom for demanding live applications. This helps the subwoofer stay controlled and responsive even when used for energetic performances, dance music, full-band mixes and event sound.
133dB Maximum SPL
With a maximum output of 133dB SPL, the DXS15 mk3 is capable of delivering high-impact low-end performance for professional PA systems, mobile DJs, venues and event users who need more than background-level bass.
Yamaha 96kHz DSP Processing
The DXS mk3 range uses 96kHz DSP processing for precise system control, helping deliver cleaner bass response, more accurate crossover behaviour and reliable protection. This gives you more confidence when using the subwoofer in different venues and sound environments.
D-XSUB Low-End Control
Built-in D-XSUB processing allows you to tailor the low-frequency response to suit your application. Whether you need tight, controlled bass for live instruments or deeper low-end extension for DJ playback and electronic music, the DXS15 mk3 gives you practical sound-shaping options. Yamaha retailers list D-XSUB processing as extending the response down to 35Hz.
Flexible Crossover & EQ Settings
User-editable EQ and crossover settings make it easier to integrate the DXS15 mk3 with full-range speakers such as Yamaha DXR, DBR, DHR, DZR and STAGEPAS systems. This helps you build a cleaner, more balanced PA system rather than simply adding uncontrolled bass.
Cardioid Mode For Bass Management
The DXS mk3 series includes cardioid setup options, allowing multiple subwoofers to be configured for improved bass directionality. This can help reduce unwanted low-end build-up on stage and improve bass control in venues, event spaces and professional sound systems.
Durable Plywood Cabinet
The DXS15 mk3 uses a durable plywood cabinet designed for professional audio use. It is built to handle regular transport, venue use and live performance environments while remaining more manageable than larger 18" subwoofer systems.
Why Choose A 15" Powered Subwoofer?
A 15" powered subwoofer is ideal when you need a stronger bass foundation than a 12" model can provide, but still want a system that remains portable enough for regular use. It offers a practical balance between depth, punch, output and transportability.
For DJs, a 15" sub gives kick drums, basslines and dance music more weight. For bands, it helps bass guitar, kick drum, keyboards and backing tracks feel fuller and more controlled. For venues and schools, it gives PA systems more authority for performances, assemblies, events and productions.
The Yamaha DXS15 mk3 is especially useful if you want a professional active subwoofer with modern DSP control, flexible crossover options and enough output for more demanding live sound applications.
Who Is It For?
Beginners
A strong choice for users building a more capable PA system and wanting a serious bass upgrade from full-range speakers alone. It is powerful, but still practical for users stepping into subwoofer-based PA setups.
Intermediate Users
Ideal for mobile DJs, acoustic acts with backing tracks, small-to-medium bands, rehearsal spaces, schools, houses of worship, event users and venues needing dependable low-end reinforcement.
Advanced & Professional Users
Useful for mobile engineers, professional PA rigs, venue installations, theatre spaces, corporate events, live sound hire, DJ systems and users building a matched Yamaha DXR/DXS setup.
