A fresh spark for your next arrangement. Yamaha Genos2 already gives you plenty of reasons to lose track of time at the keyboard. Now its free V2.00 firmware update brings new ways to shape your sound, refine your arrangements and enjoy the creative process.
Whether you play for an audience or simply for the pleasure of hearing a favourite song come together, here is what the update could mean for you. And if Genos2 is on your wish list, there is good news on savings too: eligible new purchases currently qualify for £250 Yamaha cashback, alongside our 5% YAM5 discount on qualifying purchases.
What is new in Yamaha Genos2 V2.00?
A smoother Style Creator workflow
Access the Mixer while working in Style Creator, audition your ideas with Preview and make changes with Undo/Redo. That means more freedom to experiment while you build your backing arrangements.
More control over your finished sound
The Master Compressor becomes a multiband compressor, giving you another way to shape the overall mix.
Fine-tune your Chord Looper sequences
Step Edit arrives for Chord Looper, helping you refine a sequence after recording it.
New options for recording and playing
The update adds selectable 4- or 16-channel USB Audio output, support for S.Art+ Voices and Smart Chord fingering. Chinese is also available as a display language.
Easier expansion management
EXPANSION EXPLORER V1.7.0 support brings faster USB transfers and a User-storage optimisation tool. Less waiting, more playing.
Useful fixes behind the scenes
Yamaha also addresses Music Finder conversion, Registration display behaviour, Song saving, settings restoration and Chord Looper responsiveness.
Meet Timeless Keys: fresh inspiration, free for Genos2 owners
A new sound can be all it takes to send you back to a song you have not played in years. Released alongside V2.00, the free Timeless Keys expansion brings four piano Voices, each in five variations, plus 50 additional Styles with One Touch Settings.
Explore Nashville C3 Grand and Hamburg Grand acoustic piano sounds alongside 73Rd and Wr electric-piano flavours. There is plenty here for a quiet evening at the keys or a fresh take on your performance repertoire.
Timeless Keys is a separate expansion download for registered Genos2 owners. Follow Yamaha’s registration and installation guidance; installing the firmware alone does not install the pack.

Before you update: a little preparation matters
Give yourself time to read Yamaha’s instructions and back up your important data before starting. There are some specific compatibility changes to check:
- User Effect data saved with V1.30 or earlier cannot be used with V2.00 because of the Master Compressor changes.
- System Setup and User Effect data saved with V2.00 cannot be loaded with V1.30.
- Windows users should install Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver V2.1.12 when using Genos2 V2.00 with a Windows PC.
Use Yamaha’s Genos2 download and installation instructions. Do not turn off the keyboard or remove the USB flash drive during installation. If anything is unclear, speak to our keyboard team before proceeding.

Two lovely reasons to start your next musical chapter
Claim £250 cashback directly from Yamaha
Eligible new Genos2 purchases made from 4 November 2026 to 13 January 2027 qualify for £250 cashback through Yamaha’s seasonal Make A Gift promotion. You purchase your instrument first, then submit a separate claim directly to Yamaha with the required purchase and product details.
Cashback is paid by Yamaha after a successful claim; it is not deducted at checkout. Keep your receipt and follow Yamaha’s eligibility requirements and claim deadlines. For a bundle, the benefit relates to the qualifying Genos2 instrument, rather than separate cashback on every accessory.
