Fender '59 Bassman LTD, (Used)
The Fender '59 Bassman LTD is a reissue of the legendary tweed 4x10 combo that helped shape electric guitar tone in the late '50s. Originally intended for bass, it quickly found a home with guitarists thanks to its rich harmonic response and touch-sensitive breakup. This modern reissue retains the classic circuit design, featuring four Jensen P10R Alnico speakers, tube rectification, and a pair of 6L6 power tubes for around 45 watts of clean headroom and dynamic overdrive.
Its simple layout—two channels (Normal and Bright), each with two inputs and shared EQ controls (Bass, Middle, Treble, Presence)—offers a wide tonal palette. The Bright channel delivers more top-end sizzle, while the Normal side leans toward warmer, fuller tones. At lower volumes, the amp is clean and articulate, but as it’s pushed, it transitions into a thick, touch-responsive overdrive that’s widely regarded as one of the most musical in vintage-style amps.
The LTD version upgrades the cabinet construction with finger-jointed solid pine and uses vintage-style yellow coupling capacitors, contributing to its resonance and overall authenticity. Whether used as a clean pedal platform or cranked for raw tube saturation, the '59 Bassman LTD offers a faithful recreation of one of Fender’s most iconic amplifiers.
