Hiwatt T20/10 Tube Series MkIII, (Used)

The Hiwatt T20/10 Tube Series MkIII (Head) is a switchable output tube amplifier head offering either 20 watts or 10 watts, designed to give either more headroom or earlier power-tube breakup depending on the setting. It uses 2 × EL84C power tubes and 3 preamp valves (2 × ECC83/12AX7, 1 × ECC82/12AU7) to deliver clean and overdrive channels. The amplifier includes a cathode-biased (Class A) design and comes equipped with a spring reverb circuit.

Controls include separate gain knobs for the Normal and Overdrive channels, and a shared three-band EQ section (Bass, Middle, Treble) where the middle knob has a push-pull “Tone Shift” function to alter mid-response. There is a master volume, reverb level, channel toggle, and a standby switch. Inputs provided are a combined Normal/Overdrive input (channel selector), plus an auxiliary input; outputs include speaker extension, effects loop send/return, and a line-out; also a footswitch input for channel/reverb switching is provided.

The head is built in an 18-mm birch plywood chassis, finished in black Tolex, with dimensions approximately 49.5 cm wide, 25 cm deep, and about 22.5-24 cm high. It weighs around 9.2-9.25 kg. Impedance output is 8 ohms. The design makes it suitable for pairing with extension cabinets or used as a pedal-platform amplifier.
