Taylor T5z Classic Koa, (Used)
The Taylor T5z Classic Koa features a solid Hawaiian koa top over a sapele body, with unbound F-holes that showcase the wood’s figure and tone. The neck is Neo-Tropical mahogany, bolted on with a scarf joint, and capped with a West African Crelicam ebony fingerboard. It comes in a compact hollowbody design with a 24‑7/8″ scale and 21 jumbo frets on a 12″ radius board, resulting in a balanced feel that supports both electric and acoustic styles.
Its proprietary pickup system includes two humbuckers (hidden neck and bridge) along with a magnetic acoustic body sensor. A five-way switch, volume control, and bass/treble tone knobs allow quick transitions between electric, acoustic, and blended tones. The bridge is ebony with a micarta saddle, and hardware is finished in satin black, including tuners and strap buttons.
Tonally, the T5z Classic Koa delivers rich acoustic warmth from the body sensor, while the humbuckers provide tight, expressive electric tone with a broader dynamic range. The switching flexibility allows seamless movement between clean, jazz, blues, rock, and fingerstyle voicings. High-quality craftsmanship and versatile tone make the T5z Classic Koa a strong hybrid model made in the USA.
