The Gibson Midtown Custom in Tobacco Burst is constructed with a chambered mahogany body paired to a solid carved maple top, creating a design that blends aspects of both semi-hollow and solid-body instruments. Its routed internal chambers reduce weight while retaining structural rigidity, and the body is bound along the top to emphasize its carved contour. The neck is made from mahogany and shaped in a ’60s-style Slim Taper profile, topped with a bound Richlite fingerboard featuring acrylic block inlays for a traditional upscale appearance.

The electronics include a BurstBucker 1 humbucker in the neck position and a BurstBucker 2 in the bridge, wired through two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way selector switch. This configuration follows Gibson’s standard control layout and provides a broad range of output levels from the matched humbucking set. A Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece provide the main anchor points for the strings, and the instrument uses Grover keystone tuners for secure tuning functionality.

This model uses a 24.75" scale length, 22 frets, and a 12" fingerboard radius, aligning with traditional Gibson specifications. The Tobacco Burst finish is applied in nitrocellulose lacquer, which is consistent with the Midtown series and contributes to the overall vintage-inspired build approach.
