Acoustic guitars are like a fine wine, they get better with age. There's nothing like an open G tuning on a solid wood top acoustic guitar to shake off the cobwebs. The dreadnought shape, designed by CF Martin in the early 1900's derived its name from a ship in the British Royal Navy. A name reserved only for the most powerful battleship, the HMS Dreadnought. Cool eh? I can only imagine it was named after this due to it's large size, therefor being able to project at good volume across a room.
