EMG H4 Guitar Pickup, (Used, Comm)

The EMG H4 is a passive humbucking pickup designed as part of EMG’s HZ series, built to deliver a modern interpretation of a classic high-output humbucker voice. It uses ceramic magnets with steel pole pieces in a dual-coil structure, housed in a standard full-size humbucker casing. Unlike EMG’s active pickups, the H4 operates without onboard preamplification and relies entirely on traditional passive wiring. 

The tonal character is shaped around a tight low-end response, strong midrange focus, and a controlled high end that remains articulate under higher gain settings. The ceramic magnet design produces higher output compared to vintage-style PAF pickups, while maintaining clarity for complex chord voicings and fast picking articulation. The pickup is commonly used in bridge positions where definition and attack are required in heavier styles.

The EMG H4 is designed to integrate with standard passive guitar electronics and works within conventional volume and tone control circuits. It is often paired with its neck-position counterpart (H4A) in dual-humbucker configurations, forming a matched set intended for balanced output and tonal consistency across both positions.
