Orange Crush Bass 25 – 25W Bass Combo Amplifier
Description
The Orange Crush Bass 25 Combo Amp is a compact 25-watt bass amplifier designed to give players proper analogue bass tone, flexible EQ and genuinely useful practice features without taking up unnecessary space.
Its fully analogue signal path feeds an 8-inch speaker housed in a rear-ported enclosure, helping the Crush Bass 25 produce a fuller low-frequency response than its compact dimensions might suggest. The active three-band EQ goes beyond the basic controls found on many starter bass amplifiers by adding a sweepable parametric midrange, allowing much more precise control over punch, warmth and definition.
An integrated chromatic tuner, CabSim-equipped headphone output, Aux input and -6dB input pad make the Crush Bass 25 particularly practical for home practice, lessons and quieter playing. It is an excellent first serious bass amplifier, but equally useful as a compact practice combo for more experienced players.

Why Choose The Orange Crush Bass 25?
Fully Analogue Bass Amplification
The Crush Bass 25 uses a completely analogue signal path, providing straightforward operation without presets, menus or amp modelling.
For players who simply want to plug in, shape their sound and start practising, it keeps the experience refreshingly direct.
Sweepable Parametric Mid EQ
One of the Crush Bass 25's strongest features is its active EQ.
Alongside Bass and Treble controls, separate Frequency and Middle controls let you choose which part of the midrange you want to boost or cut. That provides far greater control than a conventional fixed Middle knob.
Rear-Ported Cabinet
The rear port helps extend the low-frequency response of the compact cabinet, allowing the 8-inch speaker to deliver greater depth and authority.
This is especially important for bass guitar, where very small sealed practice amps can otherwise sound thin.
Built-In Chromatic Tuner
An integrated tuner means one less accessory to find every time you practise.
Simply plug in and check your tuning directly from the amplifier.
CabSim Headphone Practice
The headphone output incorporates Orange's CabSim technology, designed to give headphones a more natural speaker-like response than a completely dry direct signal.
That makes the Crush Bass 25 particularly useful for late-night or shared-home practice.
Orange Crush Bass 25 Compared With Popular Alternatives
Crush Bass 25 vs Crush Bass 50
The Crush Bass 50 steps up to 50 watts, a 12-inch speaker, blendable overdrive and a buffered effects loop. Choose the 25 when compact home practice is the priority; choose the 50 when you need more output and room to expand into rehearsals.
Crush Bass 25 vs Crush Bass 100
The Crush Bass 100 is designed for much more demanding rehearsal and performance use. The Crush Bass 25 is significantly smaller and easier to manage for everyday practice.
Crush Bass 25 vs A Basic Starter Bass Amp
Many entry-level bass amps use simple fixed EQ. The Orange's sweepable midrange gives developing players much greater control over how their instrument sounds and helps teach practical bass tone shaping.
Crush Bass 25 vs Separate Head And Cabinet
A separate bass head and cabinet offers more flexibility and potential power, but it also requires more equipment and space. The Crush Bass 25 is the simpler self-contained solution for practice and learning.
Who Is The Orange Crush Bass 25 For?
The Crush Bass 25 is particularly well suited to:
-
Beginners buying their first bass amplifier
-
Students practising at home
-
Experienced players needing a compact second amp
-
Bassists working in bedrooms or smaller spaces
-
Players who practise with headphones
-
Musicians using active or passive basses
-
Bassists learning how to shape their EQ
-
Home-recording musicians
-

Suitable Genres And Uses
Rock: Add some useful midrange presence to keep the bass defined against electric guitars.
Funk: The parametric mids help emphasise finger attack and articulation for cleaner, more percussive playing.
Soul and R&B: Shape the EQ towards a warmer, rounder response for traditional bass lines.
Pop: Its clear analogue response works well for straightforward modern bass sounds.
Blues: The uncomplicated signal path gives passive basses a natural, responsive foundation.
Practice and tuition: The tuner, Aux input and headphone facility make the Crush Bass 25 especially convenient for daily playing.
Why Are Sweepable Mids Useful On A Bass Amp?
Midrange frequencies are extremely important for bass because they contain much of the definition that allows individual notes to remain audible in a mix.
The Crush Bass 25 gives you separate Frequency and Middle controls. Frequency selects the area you want to work on, while Middle determines whether that area is boosted or reduced.
This lets you shape a warmer vintage-style tone, create more aggressive modern definition or compensate for the natural character of a particular bass or room.
Is A 25-Watt Bass Amp Enough For Home Practice?
For home use, 25 watts is more than enough for most bass players.
The Crush Bass 25 is designed to give you satisfying bass response at sensible practice levels rather than compete with a loud drummer or guitar stack.
Its compact dimensions also make it much easier to keep in a bedroom, home office or teaching space than a larger rehearsal amplifier.
If you regularly need to play alongside acoustic drums, moving up to the Crush Bass 50, Crush Bass 100 or a separate bass head-and-cab system is likely to be more appropriate.
Story & Context
Orange developed the modern Crush Bass range to bring ideas from its professional bass amplification into smaller self-contained combos.
Rather than relying on digital modelling, the Crush Bass series retains an analogue signal path and concentrates on practical bass-specific features, particularly flexible midrange control.
The Crush Bass 25 is the smallest model in the range, designed primarily around practice and portability while retaining the parametric EQ concept that distinguishes the larger Crush Bass amplifiers.
That makes it more than simply a basic starter amp: it introduces developing bassists to tone controls that remain genuinely useful as they progress to larger rigs.
Compatibility & Recommended Pairings
Passive Bass Guitars
Traditional passive bass guitars connect directly to the main instrument input and work naturally with the amplifier's active EQ.
Active Bass Guitars
The -6dB Pad provides additional input headroom for active basses and other higher-output instruments.
Headphones
Compatible headphones can be connected for quieter practice, with CabSim processing helping produce a more natural direct sound.
Backing Tracks
The Aux input allows a compatible external audio source to be connected so you can practise along with songs, lessons or backing tracks.

Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Orange Crush Bass 25 is an excellent example of how a small practice amp can still give players genuinely useful tone-shaping tools.
The standout feature is the parametric midrange. Rather than restricting beginners to a basic fixed EQ, Orange gives you enough control to learn how different mid frequencies affect the way a bass actually sounds.
Combine that with analogue circuitry, a rear-ported enclosure, tuner, Aux input and CabSim headphone practice and you have a compact amp that covers the essentials extremely well.
Best suited for: Beginners and home players wanting a compact but capable analogue bass amplifier.
Main benefit: Proper bass-focused EQ and practice facilities in a manageable format.
Value proposition: Offers more meaningful tone control than many straightforward entry-level bass combos.
Standout feature: Active three-band EQ with sweepable parametric mids.
Customers usually upgrade from: Playing bass unplugged, headphone-only setups or very small entry-level practice amps.
Most commonly paired with: Four-string or five-string bass guitar, instrument cable and headphones for quiet practice.
Our tip: Spend time experimenting with the Frequency control rather than leaving it in one position. Learning how different mid frequencies affect your bass tone is one of the most useful skills you can take into larger amps later.
Showroom feedback: The Crush Bass 25 is particularly easy to recommend as a first proper bass amp because its controls remain simple while still teaching players more about EQ than many basic practice combos.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Orange Crush Bass 25 good for beginners?
Yes. Its straightforward controls are beginner-friendly, while the parametric mid EQ provides enough tonal flexibility for the amplifier to remain useful as the player's understanding develops.
Can I use an active bass with the Crush Bass 25?
Yes. The -6dB input pad provides additional headroom for active basses and other higher-output instruments.
Does the Crush Bass 25 have a built-in tuner?
Yes. An integrated chromatic tuner is built directly into the amplifier.
Can I practise with headphones?
Yes. The headphone output includes Orange CabSim processing for a more cabinet-like silent-practice sound.
Can I play music through the amp while practising?
Yes. The Aux input allows a compatible external audio source to be connected for backing tracks, songs or lesson material.
Does the Crush Bass 25 have overdrive?
The Crush Bass 25 concentrates on clean analogue bass amplification and flexible EQ. Players wanting Orange's dedicated blendable overdrive circuit should consider the Crush Bass 50.
Does it have an effects loop?
No. If a buffered effects loop is important to your setup, the Crush Bass 50 is the next logical model to consider.
Can I use a five-string bass?
Yes. A five-string bass can be connected normally. For players who need the greatest low-B projection at high volume, a larger bass amplifier and speaker system will provide greater physical low-frequency output.
Is 25 watts enough for rehearsing with a drummer?
The Crush Bass 25 is primarily intended for home practice and lower-volume playing. For regular rehearsals with acoustic drums, a higher-powered model will generally provide more useful headroom.
Should I choose the Crush Bass 25 or Crush Bass 50?
Choose the Crush Bass 25 for compact home practice and straightforward portability. Choose the Crush Bass 50 if you need a larger 12-inch speaker, more output, blendable overdrive and a buffered effects loop.
Final Buying Advice
The Orange Crush Bass 25 Combo Amp is a strong choice for anyone looking for a compact bass amplifier that does more than simply make the instrument louder.
Its combination of 25-watt analogue amplification, rear-ported 8-inch speaker, active parametric EQ, -6dB pad, integrated tuner, Aux input and CabSim headphone output gives players the tools needed for productive everyday practice without unnecessary complexity.
For beginners, it offers plenty of room to learn how bass tone actually works. For more experienced musicians, it makes a convenient home or secondary practice amplifier with unmistakable Orange character.
