Orange OBC112 1x12 Bass Cabinet
Pairs well with
Description
The Orange OBC112 1x12 Bass Cabinet is a compact, powerful bass enclosure designed for players who want serious low-end performance without the size and weight of a traditional large cabinet.
At its heart is a custom 12-inch Lavoce neodymium speaker capable of handling up to 400 watts, delivering tight lows, clear mids and plenty of definition for modern bass rigs. Neodymium construction helps keep the complete cabinet down to just 11.85kg, making the OBC112 particularly attractive to gigging musicians who regularly move their own equipment.
A rear-ported 15mm birch-ply enclosure helps extend the low-frequency response while retaining clarity and projection. With an 8-ohm impedance, the OBC112 works particularly well with compact Orange bass heads and can also form part of a modular multi-cabinet setup.

Why Choose The Orange OBC112?
400 Watts From A Compact 1x12
The OBC112 handles an impressive 400 watts, giving it enough capacity to partner a wide range of serious bass amplifier heads while keeping the cabinet considerably smaller than conventional 2x10, 4x10 and 1x15 designs.
Custom Lavoce Neodymium Speaker
Orange uses a custom-selected Lavoce 12-inch neodymium driver designed to combine powerful low-frequency performance with clear and responsive mids.
The neodymium magnet also plays an important role in keeping the cabinet light enough for regular gigging.
Lightweight 11.85kg Design
At just 11.85kg, the OBC112 is exceptionally manageable for a professional bass cabinet.
For working musicians carrying equipment through venues, up stairs or between rehearsals, reducing cabinet weight can make a significant practical difference.
Rear-Ported Cabinet
The rear port helps increase low-frequency extension and projection, allowing the single 12-inch speaker to produce a fuller bass response than its compact dimensions might suggest.
15mm Birch-Ply Construction
The enclosure uses 15mm birch plywood, balancing road-ready strength with the need to keep overall weight under control.
Orange OBC112 Compared With Popular Alternatives
Orange OBC112 vs OBC115
A 1x15 cabinet traditionally appeals to bassists wanting a larger speaker with a broad, substantial low-end response. The OBC112 is considerably more compact and portable, making it the better choice when transport weight and modularity matter most.
Orange OBC112 vs 4x10 Bass Cabinet
A 4x10 typically moves more air and can provide greater overall stage scale, but it is also substantially larger and heavier. The OBC112 is a strong alternative for players who want a rig they can comfortably transport themselves.
Orange OBC112 vs Two OBC112 Cabinets
A single OBC112 provides an excellent lightweight rig for rehearsals, recording and many live situations. Using two compatible OBC112 cabinets gives you greater speaker area and stage projection while retaining the flexibility to take only one cabinet when the second is unnecessary.
Orange OBC112 vs Bass Combo
A bass combo provides amplifier and speaker in one enclosure. The OBC112 is better suited to players who want the flexibility of a separate amplifier head, allowing either the head or cabinet to be upgraded independently later.
Who Is The Orange OBC112 For?
The OBC112 is particularly well suited to bassists who want professional bass-cabinet performance without carrying an unnecessarily large enclosure.
It is a strong choice for:
-
Gigging bassists
-
Rehearsing musicians
-
Players carrying their own equipment
-
Orange bass-head users
-
Funk and soul bassists
-
Rock and alternative players
-
Five-string bass users
-
Recording musicians
-
Players building modular bass rigs
-
Bassists downsizing from larger cabinets

Is A 1x12 Bass Cabinet Enough For Gigging?
A modern 1x12 bass cabinet can be surprisingly capable, particularly when it uses a high-powered speaker and efficient enclosure design.
The OBC112's 400-watt Lavoce driver gives it considerably more capability than a small practice cabinet, making it suitable for rehearsals and many live situations when partnered with an appropriate amplifier.
For louder stages, players can build a larger modular system with additional compatible cabinets rather than carrying a large enclosure to every performance.
Why Choose A Neodymium Bass Speaker?
Traditional bass speakers often use heavy ceramic magnets. Neodymium provides a way to achieve strong magnetic performance while significantly reducing speaker weight.
That difference is especially valuable in a bass cabinet, where large drivers and substantial enclosure construction can quickly make equipment difficult to transport.
The OBC112 uses this advantage to keep the complete cabinet at 11.85kg while still providing a high-powered 12-inch bass speaker.
Suitable Genres And Uses
Rock: The focused midrange helps bass remain audible alongside distorted guitars without relying solely on excessive low-frequency boost.
Funk: Quick response and midrange definition suit articulate fingerstyle and slap playing.
Soul and R&B: The cabinet has enough low-end depth for warmer bass sounds while retaining useful clarity.
Pop: A balanced, defined response works well for modern clean bass tones and pedal-based setups.
Alternative and indie: The OBC112 works well with effects-heavy bass rigs where clarity is important.
Recording: Its compact dimensions make it practical in smaller studios while the single-speaker format provides straightforward microphone placement.
Story & Context
Orange's bass amplification range has long included substantial cabinets designed for high-volume professional rigs, but modern bassists increasingly need equipment that is easier to transport without sacrificing performance.
The OBC112 addresses that requirement directly.
By combining a high-powered Lavoce neodymium driver with a lighter 15mm birch-ply enclosure, Orange created a cabinet that can function as a serious standalone unit while remaining compact enough for regular load-ins and rehearsals.
Its modular design also means players can expand the rig when required rather than transporting maximum speaker capacity to every session.
Compatibility & Recommended Pairings
Orange Little Bass Thing
The compact Little Bass Thing makes a natural partner for the OBC112, creating a lightweight bass rig with plenty of amplifier power and flexible EQ.
Orange Terror Bass
The Terror Bass and OBC112 work particularly well together for players wanting a portable Orange head-and-cab setup with serious live capability.
Multiple OBC112 Cabinets
Using multiple compatible cabinets can increase speaker area and stage projection.
Always calculate the combined impedance and confirm that your amplifier is designed to operate safely with the resulting speaker load before connecting more than one cabinet.
Effects And Preamps
Pedals and preamps remain connected through the amplifier signal chain rather than directly to the passive OBC112.

Power Requirements
The Orange OBC112 is a passive bass speaker cabinet, so it requires no mains power, batteries or external power supply.
It must be connected to a compatible bass amplifier's speaker output using a dedicated speaker cable.
Key matching specifications are:
-
Power handling: 400W
-
Impedance: 8Ω
Always check the amplifier's minimum supported speaker impedance before connecting one or more cabinets.
A standard guitar or bass instrument lead should never be substituted for a proper amplifier-to-cabinet speaker cable.
Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Orange OBC112 is one of those products where the practical advantages are just as important as the sound.
A 400-watt bass cabinet weighing only 11.85kg is immediately attractive to working musicians, but Orange has not achieved that simply by building a lightweight box. The Lavoce neodymium speaker, birch-ply enclosure and rear-port design create a cabinet intended for genuine rehearsal, recording and live work.
It is also particularly useful as the foundation of a modular rig: take one cabinet when portability matters and expand your setup when greater projection is required.
Best suited for: Gigging bassists wanting a lightweight but genuinely capable professional cabinet.
Main benefit: Serious 400-watt bass performance from an exceptionally portable 1x12 enclosure.
Value proposition: Combines high power handling, premium neodymium speaker technology and birch-ply construction without the weight of many traditional bass cabinets.
Standout feature: The custom 400W Lavoce neodymium 12-inch speaker.
Customers usually upgrade from: Smaller practice combos or heavier entry-level cabinets when they want a more flexible separate head-and-cab setup.
Most commonly paired with: Orange Little Bass Thing, Terror Bass and a quality speaker cable.
Our tip: Don't judge the OBC112 purely by cabinet size. A modern high-powered 1x12 can deliver considerably more usable bass performance than older compact cabinets, and the modular format makes future expansion straightforward.
Showroom feedback: The low weight is likely to be the first thing players notice, but the real attraction is that it remains a serious bass cabinet rather than feeling like a compromise designed purely around portability.
