Epiphone Tommy Thayer “White Lightning” Explorer, (Used, Comm)
The Epiphone Tommy Thayer “White Lightning” Explorer is a limited-edition signature solid-body electric guitar developed in collaboration with Tommy “The Spaceman” Thayer of KISS. The body is crafted from mahogany with a custom metallic white gloss finish and is fitted with dual Seymour Duncan JB humbucker pickups—one at the neck with chrome mounting rings, and one at the bridge featuring an open-coil design with white bobbins. The hardware includes a LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, along with Grover Mini-Rotomatic tuners.
Its neck is made of mahogany and shaped in a 1960s SlimTaper “D” profile. It has a torrefied composite fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and dot inlays. The scale length is 24.75 inches, the nut width is approximately 1.68 inches, and it features white/black binding on the body and headstock trim. The output control layout consists of two volume knobs (one per pickup), two tone knobs, and a three-way pickup selector switch.
The package includes extras like a custom white hard case, a studded leather strap, and a certificate of authenticity. The Explorer also uses a heavy-duty output jack with a chrome jack plate, a chrome metal pickguard, white Top Hat knobs with metal pointers, and a truss rod cover engraved with “Tommy Thayer.” It is a collectible piece, combining visual flair with rock-orientated components.
