Roland LX-5-CH Digital Upright Piano Charcoal Black – Showroom Model
Description
Quick Product Summary
The Roland LX-5-CH in Charcoal Black is a premium digital upright piano that brings much of the advanced technology from Roland's flagship LX instruments into a more compact home-piano format. Its 88-note PHA-50 Hybrid Keyboard combines progressive hammer action, escapement, Ebony/Ivory Feel surfaces and High Precision Sensing for detailed control across the full dynamic range.
Roland's Piano Reality Modeling sound engine works with the four-speaker Piano Reality Projection system to create a rich, responsive playing experience, while integrated three-pedal control, Bluetooth, recording facilities and Roland Piano App compatibility make the LX-5 equally capable for serious practice, tuition and everyday home performance.
What Makes the Roland LX-5 Special?
Rather than simply triggering fixed recordings at different velocities, Piano Reality Modeling recreates the complex behaviour of an acoustic piano in real time. This allows changes in touch, dynamics, resonance and pedalling to interact naturally, while Piano Designer provides detailed control over characteristics such as string resonance, damper behaviour and individual-note voicing.
The PHA-50 Hybrid Keyboard combines wooden components with durable moulded materials and High Precision Sensing technology, giving the LX-5 the substantial response expected from a quality acoustic-style action. Its Piano Reality Projection system then distributes the sound through four purpose-designed speakers, creating a more spacious presentation than a conventional two-speaker digital piano.

What does CH mean in Roland LX-5-CH?
CH identifies the Charcoal Black finish, giving the LX-5 a contemporary dark cabinet appearance.
Does the Roland LX-5 have fully weighted keys?
Yes. The LX-5 features Roland's 88-note PHA-50 Hybrid Keyboard, with progressive hammer action designed to reproduce the heavier lower and lighter upper response associated with an acoustic piano.

High Precision Sensing allows the keyboard to capture subtle changes in key movement with greater detail, helping translate fine differences in technique into changes in the piano's response.
What is Piano Reality Modeling?
Piano Reality Modeling digitally recreates the behaviour and interaction of an acoustic piano rather than relying solely on recordings of individual notes. This enables the sound to respond continuously to touch, dynamics and pedalling.

Can I record my playing?
Yes. The LX-5 includes MIDI recording and can also create WAV audio recordings when compatible USB flash storage is connected.
Is the Roland LX-5 suitable for piano lessons?
Yes. Its realistic weighted action, three-pedal system, metronome, extensive internal lesson library and Twin Piano mode make it particularly well suited to structured tuition.
