Fender Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster, Black Electro Acoustic Guitar
Description
Quick Product Summary
The Fender Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster in Black brings Fender's acoustic-electric hybrid concept into a streamlined, accessible format. Combining the familiar offset shape of a Jazzmaster with a fully chambered nyatoh body, solid Sitka spruce top and dual acoustic/electric pickup system, it is designed for guitarists who want to move between acoustic-style textures and stronger electric tones without changing instruments.
A Fishman under-saddle transducer captures the acoustic side of the instrument, while Fender's Acoustasonic Standard Shawbucker provides a fuller magnetic electric voice. Instead of complicated switching, Fender uses a straightforward Master Volume and Blend control, allowing you to move smoothly between the two pickup systems.
With its satin Black finish, comfortable Modern Deep “C” neck, 25.5" scale and 22 medium-jumbo frets, the Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster feels familiar to electric guitarists while offering the resonance and response of a genuine chambered acoustic-electric instrument.

Fair Deal Quality Control Assessment
Every new guitar sold through Fair Deal Music is checked before leaving us, with attention given to the instrument's electronics, controls, hardware and general playing condition.
With an Acoustasonic model, the dual pickup system is particularly important, so both the magnetic and under-saddle elements should form part of the functional check alongside the Volume and Blend controls.
As with any guitar, setup can move slightly during transport as the instrument responds to changes in temperature and humidity. If you need advice on action, neck relief, strings or amplification after delivery, our experienced team is happy to help.
Why Choose The Fender Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster?
Acoustic And Electric Sounds In One Guitar
The Acoustasonic concept is built around versatility. Rather than carrying a conventional acoustic and a separate electric guitar, the Standard Jazzmaster gives you a resonant acoustic-style instrument with a magnetic pickup available whenever you want greater body, drive or electric-guitar character.
Solid Sitka Spruce Top
A solid Sitka spruce top sits at the heart of the acoustic side of the instrument. Combined with its braced, chambered construction and Fender's Stringed Instrument Resonance System, it allows the guitar to produce a genuinely useful natural sound even before you plug it in.
Fender And Fishman Electronics
The two-pickup system combines a Fishman under-saddle transducer with the Fender Acoustasonic Standard Shawbucker. The transducer focuses on the acoustic response of the strings and bridge, while the magnetic Shawbucker adds the stronger electric character associated with a humbucking pickup.
Simple Blend Control
One of the biggest attractions of the Standard model is how easy it is to operate. There is no multi-position voice selector to navigate. Turn the Blend control towards one pickup or the other, or place it between the two to create your own balance.
For live performers, that simplicity can be particularly useful when you need to change the character of the guitar quickly during a song.
Familiar Fender Playing Feel
A Modern Deep “C” nyatoh neck, 12" radius rosewood fingerboard and 22 medium-jumbo frets give the guitar a playing feel that should be comfortable for electric players.
The 25.5" scale also retains familiar Fender string tension while the integrated forearm and back contours make the chambered body comfortable for longer playing sessions.

Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster vs Acoustasonic Standard Telecaster
The Acoustasonic Standard Telecaster follows essentially the same streamlined Standard-Series philosophy, including the solid Sitka spruce top, nyatoh construction, Shawbucker, under-saddle transducer and simple Volume/Blend controls.
The main buying decision is therefore body shape and playing preference. Choose the Jazzmaster if you prefer Fender's larger offset outline and its particular physical feel; choose the Telecaster version if the more compact Tele-inspired shape feels more natural to you.
Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster vs Acoustasonic Player Jazzmaster
The Acoustasonic Player Jazzmaster moves further up the range with mahogany construction and a more elaborate electronics system incorporating a three-way switch alongside its Blend control.
The Standard is the better choice if you want the Acoustasonic concept in its simplest form and do not need multiple selectable voices. The Player model makes more sense for performers who want additional switching options directly from the guitar.
Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster vs American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster
The American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is the premium version of the concept. It adds a three-pickup system including an internal body sensor and uses a five-way selector to access a much broader range of acoustic and electric voices.
Choose the American model if maximum onboard tonal flexibility is essential. The Standard is considerably simpler, making it attractive to players who would rather have an intuitive acoustic-to-electric blend than a large menu of sounds.
Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster vs Fender Player II Jazzmaster
Despite sharing the Jazzmaster outline, these are very different instruments. The Player II Jazzmaster is a conventional solid-body electric guitar with two Jazzmaster single-coils and a floating tremolo.
Choose the Player II if you fundamentally want a traditional electric Jazzmaster. Choose the Acoustasonic Standard when acoustic-electric crossover capability, natural resonance and easy switching between acoustic and magnetic soundsare the priority.
Who Is The Fender Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster For?
This is particularly useful for musicians whose playing does not fit neatly into either the acoustic or electric category.
It is a strong option for:
-
Singer-songwriters
-
Solo performers
-
Duo and small-band musicians
-
Worship guitarists
-
Function and covers players
-
Acoustic players wanting an electric-style neck feel
-
Electric players wanting more convincing acoustic textures
-
Songwriters working across acoustic and electric arrangements
-
Home and studio recording
-
Indie, alternative and pop musicians
-
Performers wanting fewer guitar changes on stage
-
Players who prefer simple controls over complex onboard switching

Suitable Genres And Uses
The Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster is less about belonging to one genre and more about handling different roles.
For singer-songwriter, folk, pop and worship applications, the under-saddle pickup gives you an acoustic-style foundation that can be sent to an acoustic amplifier, PA system or recording setup.
Blend in the Shawbucker and the guitar gains more thickness and magnetic-pickup character, opening up indie, alternative, roots and lightly driven electric textures.
It is particularly useful in arrangements where one guitar part needs to evolve. You can begin with a cleaner acoustic-style sound and introduce more magnetic pickup as the song develops without putting the guitar down.
How Does The Acoustasonic Standard Blend Control Work?
The Standard Jazzmaster deliberately avoids the multi-position voice switching used by more expensive Acoustasonic models.
Instead, the Blend control continuously changes the balance between the Fishman under-saddle transducer and Fender Acoustasonic Standard Shawbucker.
This provides a straightforward way of moving from an acoustic-focused signal towards a fuller magnetic electric sound, with intermediate positions combining elements of both.
For guitarists who value simplicity on stage, this may actually be preferable to having a larger selection of preset voices.
Compatibility & Recommended Pairings
The Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster can work in several different types of guitar rig, but the amplification you choose will influence which side of its personality comes through most clearly.
Good pairing options include:
-
Acoustic guitar amplifiers
-
Full-range PA systems
-
Active PA speakers
-
Audio interfaces
-
Acoustic preamps
-
DI boxes
-
Modelling systems
-
Electric guitar amplifiers
-
Reverb and delay pedals
-
Loop pedals
-
Compression
-
Light overdrive for magnetic-pickup sounds
For performers wanting both acoustic and electric characteristics from one live rig, a full-range system, modeller or flexible acoustic amplifier can be particularly useful.
Story & Context
Fender launched the modern Acoustasonic family in 2019 with the American Acoustasonic Telecaster, developing the idea of combining recognisable Fender electric-guitar forms with purpose-built acoustic architecture and modern electronics.
The family subsequently expanded into Stratocaster and Jazzmaster shapes, alongside Player-Series instruments designed to make the concept available at different price points.
The Acoustasonic Standard Series takes another step in that direction. Rather than reproducing all of the electronic voices and switching of the American models, Fender simplified the system around two pickups and a continuous Blend control.
That makes the Standard Jazzmaster an interesting part of the Acoustasonic story: it retains the chambered construction, solid spruce top and hybrid acoustic/electric philosophy while focusing on straightforward operation and accessibility.

Power Requirements
The Fender Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster uses active electronics powered by a 9V battery.
Battery power is required for the amplified pickup system, so players using the guitar live should keep a spare 9V battery in their gig bag or accessories case.
For amplification, connect the guitar using a standard ¼-inch instrument cable to a suitable amplifier, PA system, modeller, DI or audio interface.
Fair Deal Music Verdict 🎵
★★★★★ 5/5
The Fender Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster is arguably at its most appealing when viewed as a practical working instrument rather than simply an unusual Fender.
Its standout feature is the simple Blend control. Instead of giving the player a long list of selectable acoustic models and voices, it provides two fundamentally different pickup sources and lets you decide how much of each you want.
Best suited for: Singer-songwriters, gigging musicians, worship players, home recordists and electric guitarists who want useful acoustic capability without changing to a conventional acoustic.
Customers usually upgrade from: Standard electro-acoustic guitars, entry-level acoustic-electric instruments or setups where separate acoustic and electric guitars are currently required.
Most commonly paired with: Acoustic amplifiers, PA systems, modelling rigs, audio interfaces, loopers, delay and reverb.
Our tip: Think about your amplification as part of the instrument. A full-range or acoustic-oriented system will reveal more of the under-saddle pickup, while an electric amp can make the magnetic Shawbucker side considerably more prominent.
Showroom feedback: The stripped-back two-control layout is one of this model's biggest advantages. It makes the Acoustasonic concept much easier to understand for players who like the hybrid idea but do not need the more complex switching available further up the range.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster be played unplugged?
Yes. Its chambered construction and solid spruce top mean it produces an audible natural acoustic sound without amplification. For performance-level volume, however, amplification will normally be required.
Is this a replacement for both an acoustic and electric guitar?
That depends on how specialised your requirements are. Its main strength is giving you convincing elements of both worlds in one highly practical instrument. A dedicated acoustic or electric may still be preferable when you need a very specific traditional sound.
What type of amplifier should I use?
An acoustic amplifier or full-range PA will make good use of the under-saddle pickup, while an electric guitar amplifier can emphasise the Shawbucker. A modeller or flexible full-range setup is a strong option if you regularly use both sides of the guitar.
Can I use overdrive with the Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster?
Yes. The magnetic Shawbucker can be used with drive effects, making the guitar capable of moving beyond clean acoustic-style sounds. Experiment with the Blend control to find the balance that works best with your pedals and amplifier.
Does the Standard model have the same switching as the American Acoustasonic?
No. This is intentionally a simpler design. The Standard model uses Master Volume and Blend controls rather than the five-way voice selector found on the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster.
Can I plug it directly into a PA system?
Yes, although using a suitable DI box, acoustic preamp or mixer input can provide greater control over level and EQ in a professional live setup.
What strings should I use on the Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster?
Fender supplies the model with .011–.052 80/20 bronze strings. Staying close to the original gauge is a sensible starting point because substantial changes in string gauge can alter feel, action and setup.
Is it comfortable for an electric guitarist?
Yes. The bolt-on Modern Deep “C” neck, 25.5" scale, medium-jumbo frets and relatively slim body make the transition considerably more familiar than moving to many conventional full-depth acoustic guitars.
Who should choose the Standard instead of the Player Acoustasonic?
Choose the Standard if you value simplicity, straightforward pickup blending and a more accessible entry into the Acoustasonic range. Choose the Player if you specifically want its additional switching and expanded tonal options.
Fair Deal Music Expert Recommendation
The Fender Acoustasonic Standard Jazzmaster in Black is a strong choice for musicians who have always liked the idea of the Acoustasonic but want the concept stripped back to its essentials.
There are just two fundamental sound sources and two controls, making it easy to understand what the guitar is doing and easy to make adjustments during a performance.
For singer-songwriters, live players, home recordists and guitarists who regularly move between acoustic and electric parts, that simplicity could make the Standard Jazzmaster more useful than a more complicated instrument.
