Fender Limited Edition American Professional II Stratocaster, Surf Green Electric Guitar
Description
Quick Product Summary
The Fender Limited Edition American Professional II Stratocaster in Surf Green takes Fender's professional-level American Stratocaster platform and gives it a distinctive limited-edition treatment, combining a classic Surf Green finish with a matching painted headstock, rosewood fingerboard and mint green pickguard.
Made in the USA, it pairs a traditional alder body with Fender's comfortable Deep “C” maple neck, rolled fingerboard edges, 22 narrow-tall frets and a sculpted neck heel for easier access higher up the fingerboard. Three V-Mod II Stratocaster single-coil pickups provide the clarity and versatility expected from an SSS Strat, while clever push-push switching adds the neck pickup to selected positions for sounds unavailable from a conventional five-way Stratocaster.
Add a treble-bleed volume circuit, upgraded two-point tremolo with cold-rolled steel block and an included Fender Deluxe Molded Case, and this limited edition is a strong choice for working players who want professional Strat versatility with a finish that stands apart from the standard American Professional II range.

Fair Deal Quality Control Assessment
Every new electric guitar sold through Fair Deal Music is carefully checked before leaving us, with attention given to its electronics, controls, hardware and general playing condition.
On the American Professional II Stratocaster, this includes checking all five standard pickup positions, the additional push-push switching, Volume and Tone controls, tuning machines and two-point tremolo system.
As with any guitar, setup can shift slightly during delivery as the instrument responds naturally to changes in temperature and humidity. If you need advice on action, neck relief, tremolo adjustment, intonation or string gauge after delivery, our experienced team is happy to help.
Why Choose The Fender Limited Edition American Professional II Stratocaster?
Limited Edition Surf Green With Matching Headstock
The headline feature is immediately obvious: Surf Green extends from the alder body onto the face of the headstock, creating a very different look from a standard American Professional II Stratocaster.
Combined with the rosewood fingerboard, aged white plastics and mint green pickguard, it has a strong vintage-colour influence while retaining a thoroughly modern professional specification.
V-Mod II Stratocaster Pickups
Three V-Mod II single-coil Stratocaster pickups are individually voiced for their positions, giving the neck, middle and bridge pickups complementary responses rather than simply using three identical units.
The result retains the familiar clarity, sparkle and dynamic character of a traditional Strat while being designed around the needs of contemporary working players.
Push-Push Neck Pickup Switching
Press the second Tone control and the neck pickup can be added to pickup-selector positions where it would not normally be available.
This gives the guitar additional combinations beyond the conventional Strat five-way layout, including the particularly useful bridge-and-neck pickup combination.
You retain the simplicity of a traditional Stratocaster while gaining extra tonal flexibility when required.
Deep “C” Neck With Rolled Edges
The Deep “C” maple neck has more substance than a particularly slim modern profile while remaining comfortable for a wide range of playing styles.
Smooth rolled fingerboard edges give the rosewood board a more naturally broken-in sensation, while the sculpted heel improves access when working around the highest frets.
Treble-Bleed Volume Circuit
The Master Volume includes a treble-bleed circuit, helping the guitar retain clarity as the volume is reduced.
This is particularly useful for players who control amplifier gain from the guitar itself, allowing you to clean up an overdriven sound without losing excessive high-frequency definition.
Upgraded Two-Point Tremolo
Fender's two-point synchronized tremolo uses bent steel saddles, a pop-in arm and a cold-rolled steel block.
It provides smooth pitch control for everything from subtle chord shimmer to expressive vibrato while retaining the familiar layout and individual adjustment expected from a modern Strat bridge.

Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
Limited Edition American Professional II vs Standard American Professional II Stratocaster
The underlying professional specification is closely related, with both offering a Deep “C” neck, V-Mod II single-coils, rolled fingerboard edges, push-push neck-pickup switching and the upgraded two-point tremolo.
The reason to choose this Limited Edition Surf Green version is its appearance and relative exclusivity. The matching headstock, rosewood board and Surf Green treatment create a more distinctive instrument than the regular production finishes without sacrificing the familiar American Professional II playing platform.
American Professional II vs Player II Modified Stratocaster
The Player II Modified Stratocaster offers impressive modern features including Noiseless pickups, locking tuners, TUSQ nut and expanded switching at a considerably lower price point.
The American Professional II moves into Fender's USA-made range and takes a different approach with its V-Mod II pickups, Deep “C” neck, narrow-tall frets and premium American construction. Choose the Player II Modified when maximum features per pound are the priority; choose the American Professional II when the complete USA-made professional Fender experience matters more.
American Professional II vs American Vintage II 1965 Stratocaster
The American Vintage II 1965 Stratocaster is designed around period-correct Fender specifications including a 7.25" radius, round-laminated rosewood fingerboard, vintage-style hardware, nitrocellulose lacquer and Pure Vintage '65 pickups.
The American Professional II is much more contemporary. Its 9.5" radius, rolled edges, 22 narrow-tall frets, sculpted heel and modern two-point tremolo make it better suited to players who want classic Strat sounds without committing to vintage geometry.
American Professional II vs American Ultra II Stratocaster
The American Ultra II Stratocaster moves further towards high-performance modern design, with a compound-radius fingerboard, more heavily sculpted contours, Noiseless electronics and other advanced appointments.
Choose the Ultra II when maximum modern playability and noise reduction are priorities. The American Professional II is better suited to players who want professional refinements while retaining a more traditional Stratocaster feel and conventional single-coil response.
Who Is The Fender Limited Edition American Professional II Stratocaster For?
This guitar is aimed at players who want a serious working Stratocaster rather than either a budget model or a strict vintage recreation.
It is particularly well suited to:
-
Professional and semi-professional guitarists
-
Regular gigging musicians
-
Studio and session players
-
Experienced Stratocaster players
-
Guitarists upgrading from Player or Player II instruments
-
Blues players
-
Rock and alternative guitarists
-
Indie musicians
-
Pop, funk and soul players
-
Pedalboard users
-
Players who use their guitar Volume control dynamically
-
Guitarists wanting more than the standard five Strat pickup combinations
-
Fender collectors attracted to limited-edition colours
-
Players specifically looking for a Surf Green Strat with matching headstock

Suitable Genres And Playing Styles
The American Professional II Stratocaster is deliberately difficult to pigeonhole.
Its neck pickup provides the rounded clarity needed for blues, expressive lead work and warm clean tones, while the bridge pickup gives you the additional attack required for rock, indie and more aggressive rhythm parts.
Positions two and four retain the characteristic combined Strat textures that work especially well for funk, pop, soul, R&B and clean rhythm guitar.
The additional neck-pickup switching expands that palette further. Bridge and neck together can provide a broader, less obviously traditional Strat sound, while the flexibility of the Volume control and treble-bleed circuit makes the guitar particularly responsive when moving between clean and driven amplifier sounds.
What Does The Push-Push Switch Do On An American Professional II Stratocaster?
A conventional Stratocaster five-way selector gives you bridge, bridge/middle, middle, middle/neck and neck pickup settings.
The American Professional II adds a push-push function to the second Tone control that activates the neck pickup in additional selector positions.
One of the most useful results is the ability to combine the neck and bridge pickups together, a pairing that a standard five-way Stratocaster cannot normally produce.
It expands the instrument without covering the pickguard in additional switches, so the guitar still feels immediately familiar to anyone who already plays a Strat.
Compatibility & Recommended Pairings
The American Professional II Stratocaster uses conventional passive guitar electronics and integrates easily into almost any professional or home guitar setup.
It pairs particularly well with:
-
Fender valve amplifiers
-
Clean and edge-of-breakup combos
-
Digital modelling amplifiers
-
Guitar profilers and modellers
-
Overdrive and boost pedals
-
Fuzz
-
Compression
-
Wah
-
Chorus and modulation
-
Delay and reverb
-
Full pedalboard systems
-
Audio interfaces
-
Professional recording equipment
The V-Mod II pickups and treble-bleed circuit make it particularly useful for guitarists who build their sound around an amplifier and pedalboard but still make frequent tonal adjustments directly from the guitar.
Story & Context
Fender introduced the American Professional II Series in October 2020 as the second generation of its American Professional family.
Rather than radically reinventing the Stratocaster, Fender concentrated on the details working guitarists interact with constantly: the neck profile, fingerboard edges, heel access, pickup voicing, tremolo response and onboard switching.
The resulting American Professional II Stratocaster combines a recognisable Fender foundation with features such as the Deep “C” neck, rolled edges, V-Mod II pickups, sculpted heel and cold-rolled steel tremolo block.
This limited-edition Surf Green version keeps that professional platform intact while giving it a much more individual visual identity. The matching headstock is especially significant because it changes the appearance of the guitar without turning the model into a fundamentally different instrument. You still get the proven American Professional II specification, simply in a far less conventional presentation.

Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Fender Limited Edition American Professional II Stratocaster in Surf Green combines one of Fender's strongest modern professional platforms with a finish that makes the guitar feel considerably more special than a regular production model.
The matching headstock is the obvious visual attraction, but the real strength remains underneath: V-Mod II pickups, a superb Deep “C” neck, rolled rosewood fingerboard edges, expanded pickup switching and an excellent two-point tremolo.
Best suited for: Experienced guitarists, gigging professionals, serious home and studio players and Fender enthusiasts wanting something less commonplace than a standard American Professional II.
Customers usually upgrade from: Fender Player, Player II and Player II Modified Stratocasters, Squier Classic Vibe models and other mid-range S-style guitars.
Most commonly paired with: Quality valve or modelling amplifiers, overdrive, boost, compression, delay, reverb and professional pedalboards.
Our tip: Spend time with the push-push neck-pickup function. The bridge-and-neck combination gives you a genuinely useful additional sound rather than simply being a novelty feature.
Showroom feedback: The American Professional II succeeds because its modern improvements are easy to appreciate without fundamentally changing how a Stratocaster feels. This limited Surf Green version adds the visual individuality many players want while keeping that proven professional specification intact.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this American Professional II Stratocaster a Limited Edition?
This version combines the American Professional II Stratocaster platform with a Surf Green finish and matching Surf Green headstock, giving it a distinctive appearance outside the normal core colour combinations.
Is the fingerboard rosewood?
Yes. This limited-edition model uses a 9.5-inch radius rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges and 22 narrow-tall frets.
What is the difference between V-Mod II pickups and Noiseless pickups?
V-Mod II pickups are conventional single-coil Strat pickups designed with position-specific voicing. They retain traditional single-coil characteristics, including the possibility of some mains hum. Noiseless pickups use a different design intended specifically to reduce that hum.
What does the treble-bleed circuit do?
It helps preserve high-frequency clarity when the Master Volume is turned down. This is particularly useful when controlling overdrive or amplifier response directly from the guitar's Volume knob.
Can the neck and bridge pickups be used together?
Yes. The push-push switching allows the neck pickup to be added to positions where it is normally unavailable, including the bridge position.
Is the Deep “C” neck particularly chunky?
It has more substance than a very slim modern profile, but it is designed as an adaptable professional neck rather than an oversized vintage reproduction. Rolled fingerboard edges further improve comfort.
Is this guitar suitable for professional gigging?
Yes. The American Professional II range was specifically developed around the requirements of working players, with features including a sculpted neck heel, upgraded tremolo, rolled edges and practical expanded switching.
How does this differ from an American Vintage II Stratocaster?
The American Vintage II recreates specific historical Fender designs with vintage-radius fingerboards, period hardware and vintage-style finishes. The American Professional II retains classic Strat character but uses considerably more contemporary neck, fret and tremolo specifications.
Should I choose this or an American Ultra II Stratocaster?
Choose the American Professional II if you want traditional single-coil pickups and modern refinement without moving too far away from classic Strat feel. The Ultra II is better suited to players specifically wanting more advanced neck geometry, Noiseless pickups and high-performance features.
Is a hard case included?
Yes. This Limited Edition American Professional II Stratocaster is supplied with a Fender Deluxe Molded Case, providing suitable protection for transport and storage.
