JHS Violet Black Pedal, (Used)
The JHS Violet Black is a signature overdrive and distortion pedal developed in collaboration with guitarist Lari Basilio, designed to function as a flexible gain stage for electric guitar. It features an analogue circuit and a distinctive active three-band EQ, with the midrange control positioned before the distortion stage to shape the drive character, while bass and treble controls are placed after the circuit for traditional tone adjustment. The pedal operates using a 9 V DC centre-negative power supply and consumes approximately 55 mA of current.
The control layout includes knobs for gain, volume, bass, middle, treble, and a mid-frequency sweep, allowing precise adjustment of both tonal balance and distortion characteristics. It uses buffered bypass with a silent soft-touch footswitch and includes top-mounted 1/4-inch input and output jacks for compact pedalboard integration. The three-band EQ architecture enables detailed pre- and post-distortion frequency shaping within a single unit.
Housed in a metal enclosure and manufactured in the United States, the pedal measures roughly 120 mm by 89 mm by 38 mm and weighs about 300–395 g. Its design supports use as a primary drive stage or in combination with other effects, with circuitry intended to provide a wide range of overdrive and distortion responses through its EQ placement and control structure.
