Martin 000-15e Grand Concert 15 Series Electro Acoustic Guitar
Description
The Martin 000-15E brings the warm, rootsy character of the legendary Martin 15 Series into a comfortable and performance-ready electro-acoustic guitar. Its solid mahogany top produces a rich, woody voice with a strong midrange, while solid sapele back and sides add clarity, definition and a touch of extra brightness.
Built around Martin’s compact 000 Auditorium body shape, the 000-15E feels comfortable whether you are practising at home, recording in the studio or performing on stage. Its shorter 24.9-inch scale length gives the strings a slightly softer feel, making chords, bends and expressive fingerstyle techniques easier under the hands.
Martin E1 electronics provide natural amplified sound alongside an onboard chromatic tuner and straightforward volume, tone and phase controls. Supplied with a protective Martin softshell case, the 000-15E is an excellent choice for players seeking genuine all-solid-wood Martin tone, understated vintage styling and modern live performance convenience.
Quick Product Summary
The Martin 000-15E is an all-solid-wood 000-size electro-acoustic guitar designed for players who value warmth, comfort and simplicity. Why Choose the Martin 000-15E?
Warm, Woody 15 Series Tone
The solid mahogany top gives the 000-15E a warm and direct tonal character with a pronounced midrange. Notes have a dry, focused quality that sits naturally beneath vocals and responds particularly well to expressive, dynamic playing.
Solid sapele back and sides complement the mahogany top by adding definition, projection and an airy quality to the upper frequencies. The result is a balanced acoustic voice that remains clear without sounding overly bright or aggressive.
Comfortable 000 Auditorium Body
Martin’s 000 body shape is more compact and comfortable than a traditional Dreadnought while still producing enough depth and projection for confident strumming.
Its narrower waist and manageable body dimensions make it comfortable when played seated or standing. This makes the 000-15E an appealing option for longer practice sessions, intimate performances, studio work and players who prefer a less bulky acoustic guitar.
Responsive Scalloped X-Bracing
Scalloped spruce X-bracing allows the soundboard to respond freely to changes in picking strength. Light fingerstyle playing produces detail and articulation, while stronger strumming brings out additional projection and body.
This responsive construction helps the guitar feel lively beneath the hands and gives players greater control over their dynamics.
Short-Scale Playing Comfort
The 24.9-inch scale length creates slightly lower string tension than a longer-scale acoustic guitar. Chords feel comfortable, bends require less effort and the guitar responds well to subtle vibrato and expressive fingerstyle techniques.
This softer playing feel can be especially useful for singer-songwriters, blues players and anyone looking for an acoustic guitar that feels immediately welcoming.
Performance-Ready Martin E1 Electronics
The Martin E1 pickup system allows the natural character of the guitar to be reproduced through an acoustic amplifier, mixing desk, audio interface or PA system.
Simple soundhole-mounted controls provide:
- Volume adjustment
- Tone control
- Phase control
- Built-in chromatic tuner
The discreet control layout preserves the clean appearance of the guitar while keeping essential performance functions within easy reach.
Understated Vintage-Inspired Styling
The satin natural finish, faux tortoise pickguard, nickel open-gear tuners and traditional Martin headstock styling give the 000-15E an understated, heritage-inspired appearance.
Rather than relying on ornate decoration, the design allows the natural grain and colour of the tonewoods to take centre stage.
Why Choose a 000-Size Electro-Acoustic Guitar?
A 000-size guitar offers an excellent balance between playing comfort, tonal depth and note definition. It is large enough to provide a full acoustic sound but more compact than a Dreadnought, Grand Auditorium or Jumbo.
The controlled low end and clear midrange make this body shape particularly effective for recording. It is less likely to overpower vocals or compete with other instruments in a mix, while individual notes remain articulate during fingerstyle passages.
The addition of onboard electronics makes the 000-15E suitable for:
- Home practice
- Songwriting
- Studio recording
- Open-mic performances
- Acoustic ensembles
- Worship settings
- Solo live performance
- Direct recording into an audio interface
Who Is the Martin 000-15E For?
Singer-Songwriters
The warm midrange complements the human voice and provides a supportive foundation without dominating a performance. Its comfortable dimensions also make it a practical songwriting companion.
Fingerstyle Players
The 1 3/4-inch nut width provides useful spacing between the strings, while the responsive top construction captures lighter picking techniques with clarity and detail.
Blues and Roots Musicians
The dry, woody response of the mahogany and sapele construction suits traditional blues, folk, Americana and roots-inspired playing.
Performing Guitarists
Martin E1 electronics and the built-in tuner provide the essential tools needed for rehearsals, open-mic nights, acoustic gigs and larger amplified performances.
Recording Musicians
The balanced 000 body shape and controlled bass response make the guitar easier to position within a recorded mix. It can be captured with microphones or connected directly through the onboard pickup system.
Players Moving Up to an All-Solid-Wood Guitar
The 000-15E offers a genuine Martin playing experience with all-solid tonewoods, professional electronics and a protective case, making it an excellent upgrade from a laminate or partially solid acoustic guitar.

Martin 000-15E Compared with Other Acoustic Guitars
Compared with a Dreadnought
The 000-15E has a smaller and more comfortable body with a controlled low end and greater individual-note definition. A Dreadnought will generally provide more bass weight and volume for powerful strumming, while the 000-15E is particularly well suited to fingerstyle, recording and vocal accompaniment.
Compared with a Spruce-Top Acoustic
A spruce-top guitar often produces a brighter initial attack and greater tonal range under heavy strumming. The mahogany-topped 000-15E has a warmer, more focused voice with a strong midrange and a naturally mature character.
Compared with the Martin 000-15M
Both guitars deliver the understated styling and warm response associated with the Martin 15 Series. The 000-15E adds factory-installed Martin E1 electronics and uses solid sapele for the back and sides, making it a practical option for musicians who regularly perform or record through a direct connection.
Frequently Asked Questions

Can the 000-15E handle strumming?
Yes. The scalloped X-bracing provides good projection and dynamic response. It has a more controlled low end than a large Dreadnought, helping chords remain clear and balanced.
Does the pickup system include a tuner?
Yes. The Martin E1 electronics include a built-in chromatic tuner alongside volume, tone and phase controls.
What does the phase control do?
The phase control can help reduce low-frequency feedback and improve the amplified response of the guitar in certain rooms or stage environments.

The shorter scale creates slightly lower string tension, which can make fretting chords, bending notes and performing expressive techniques feel more comfortable.
Is this guitar suitable for recording?
Yes. Its balanced frequency response and controlled bass make it well suited to microphone recording. The Martin E1 electronics also provide the option of recording directly into an audio interface.
What musical styles suit the 000-15E?
Its warm and focused sound works particularly well for folk, blues, Americana, country, acoustic pop, fingerstyle and singer-songwriter material.
How should an all-solid-wood acoustic guitar be stored?
Store the guitar in its case when it is not being played and keep it away from radiators, direct sunlight and sudden temperature changes. Appropriate humidity control is recommended to protect the solid tonewoods.
