Quick Product Summary

The Fender Standard Jazz Bass in Olympic White brings one of Fender's most recognisable bass designs to players looking for classic style, flexible passive tones and comfortable everyday playability. Its poplar offset body is paired with a Modern “C” maple neck and Indian laurel fingerboard for a familiar, accessible playing feel.

A pair of Fender Standard ceramic single-coil Jazz Bass pickups provides the characteristic clarity, definition and tonal flexibility associated with the J Bass, with independent pickup volume controls allowing you to quickly reshape the balance between warmer neck tones and more focused bridge-pickup attack.

What Makes the Fender Standard Jazz Bass Special?

The Jazz Bass has long been valued for its combination of comfortable ergonomics and versatile dual-pickup electronics. With separate volume controls for each pickup and a master tone control, the Standard Jazz Bass can move from rounded, supportive bass sounds to brighter, more articulate tones without complicated switching or active circuitry.

Its Modern “C” maple neck, 9.5" fingerboard radius and 1.5" nut width give the instrument the slim, agile feel traditionally associated with a Jazz Bass. Finished in timeless Olympic White with an Indian laurel fingerboard and white pickguard, it delivers a clean classic Fender appearance suited to virtually any musical setting.

FAQs

Is the Fender Standard Jazz Bass suitable for beginners?

Yes. The comfortable neck profile, passive electronics and straightforward three-control layout make it an approachable bass for developing players while still providing enough tonal flexibility for more experienced musicians.

What pickups are fitted to the Standard Jazz Bass?

It uses two Fender Standard ceramic single-coil Jazz Bass pickups, with one positioned towards the neck and the other close to the bridge.

What is the advantage of having two pickups?

Each pickup has its own volume control, allowing you to blend them together in different proportions. This gives the Jazz Bass a wider range of tonal options than a traditional single-pickup bass.

Is this an active or passive bass?

This is a passive bass, so no battery is required. The controls consist of individual volume controls for the two pickups and a master tone control.

What fingerboard does the Olympic White version have?

The Olympic White model features an Indian laurel fingerboard with white dot position markers.

What is the scale length?

It has a traditional full-size 34-inch scale length, widely used across Fender bass guitars.

How many frets does it have?

The Fender Standard Jazz Bass has 20 medium-jumbo frets.

Is a case or gig bag included?

No. A case or gig bag is not included, but suitable Fender and third-party bass cases and gig bags can be purchased separately.

What styles of music is a Jazz Bass suitable for?

Its dual-pickup configuration makes it highly adaptable. Jazz Bass models are commonly used for rock, funk, soul, pop, blues, indie, alternative, jazz and many other genres.

What is the nut width?

The nut measures approximately 1.5" / 38.1 mm, contributing to the relatively slim feel traditionally associated with Jazz Bass necks.
