Why Choose The Orange Crush 35RT?
Proper Analogue Orange Amplifier Character
The Crush 35RT uses an all-analogue signal path, making it an appealing choice for players who prefer traditional amplifier controls rather than menus, presets and extensive digital modelling. Plug in, set your EQ and gain, and concentrate on playing.
Separate Clean And Dirty Channels
Two channels make the Crush 35RT considerably more flexible than a single-channel practice amp. The Clean channel covers clear everyday guitar sounds and pedal-platform duties, while the Dirty channel gives you a broad range of Orange overdrive and distortion.
35 Watts Gives You Useful Headroom
With 35 watts of output, the Crush 35RT sits above small bedroom-only practice amplifiers. It has enough power for confident home playing and rehearsals while remaining compact enough to live comfortably in a bedroom, studio or teaching room.
Built-In Reverb And Tuner
Digital reverb lets you add depth and ambience without another pedal, while the integrated chromatic tuner means one of the most frequently used practice tools is always available directly from the amplifier.
Fully Buffered Effects Loop
A proper effects loop is a valuable feature at this level. Delay, modulation and additional reverb pedals can be placed after the amplifier's preamp section, which is particularly useful when using higher Dirty channel gain settings.
CabSim Headphone Output
For quiet practice, the headphone output incorporates Orange's CabSim speaker emulation. Rather than simply providing a dry direct signal, it is designed to produce a more natural amplified-guitar character through headphones.
Orange Crush 35RT Compared With Popular Alternatives
Orange Crush 35RT vs Crush 20RT
The Crush 20RT is smaller and lower powered, making it attractive for straightforward bedroom practice. The Crush 35RT is the better option for players who want increased output, greater clean headroom and the addition of a buffered effects loop for a more developed pedal setup.
Orange Crush 35RT vs Crush 20
The standard Crush 20 provides the fundamental two-channel Orange experience at a lower price point, but the Crush 35RT adds considerably more flexibility with reverb, tuner, effects loop and greater output power. It is better suited to players who expect their setup to grow.
Orange Crush 35RT vs Super Crush 100 Combo
The Super Crush 100 sits much further towards professional gigging territory with substantially more output and a larger speaker platform. The Crush 35RT is the more practical choice when home use, portability and smaller rehearsals are the main priorities.
Orange Crush 35RT vs A Typical Digital Modelling Combo
A modelling amplifier is generally better for players who want large libraries of simulated amps and effects. The Crush 35RT takes the opposite approach: a focused analogue amplifier circuit, conventional controls and a smaller number of carefully chosen features.
Who Is The Orange Crush 35RT For?
The Crush 35RT is particularly well suited to players who want one straightforward amplifier that can grow beyond beginner-level practice.
It is a strong choice for:
-
Beginners wanting an amp they will not quickly outgrow
-
Intermediate players upgrading from a small starter amplifier
-
Home players who want clean and driven tones without complicated menus
-
Guitarists practising quietly with headphones
-
Players using overdrive, distortion, delay and modulation pedals
-
Students who want an integrated tuner
-
Musicians rehearsing at sensible band volumes
-
Home-recording guitarists
-
Rock, blues, alternative, punk and heavier guitar players

Suitable Genres And Uses
Rock and classic rock: The Dirty channel provides the midrange character and gain needed for crunchy rhythm playing and singing lead sounds.
Blues: Lower gain settings work well for expressive breakup, especially when combined with your guitar's volume control and playing dynamics.
Alternative and grunge: Distortion and fuzz pedals pair naturally with the Crush platform, while the effects loop gives greater control over delay and modulation.
Punk: Straightforward controls and plenty of usable gain make it easy to dial in an immediate, aggressive rhythm sound.
Metal and heavier styles: Higher Dirty channel gain settings provide substantial distortion, while the three-band EQ lets you shape the response for heavier rhythm playing.
Home practice: Aux input, tuner, reverb and CabSim headphone output make the 35RT particularly convenient when practising without a full pedalboard or external equipment.
Is The Orange Crush 35RT Just A Practice Amp?
The Crush 35RT is compact enough for home practice, but its 35-watt output, 10-inch speaker and effects loop make it more capable than many basic bedroom amplifiers. It is particularly useful for rehearsals, lessons and smaller-volume playing situations as well as everyday practice.
Its straightforward analogue design also means it can continue to be useful even after you acquire more equipment. Add pedals through the front end or effects loop and the 35RT can become the centre of a surprisingly capable compact guitar setup.
Story & Context
Orange's Crush series was developed to bring the company's distinctive amplifier character and control philosophy into accessible solid-state amplifiers suitable for everyday players.
Rather than building the Crush 35RT around large banks of digital amp models, Orange retained an analogue preamp approach. This keeps the playing experience close to that of a conventional guitar amplifier: gain, EQ and volume controls directly shape the core sound.
The RT designation refers to Reverb and Tuner, two practical additions that make the 35RT particularly useful as an all-in-one practice and rehearsal amplifier. Combined with its effects loop and CabSim headphone output, those features make it one of the more fully equipped models in the Crush range.
Compatibility & Recommended Pairings
Effects Pedals
Overdrive, distortion, boost, fuzz, wah and compression pedals can be connected directly to the amplifier input.
Delay, chorus, flanger and additional reverb effects can also be routed through the fully buffered effects loop when you want them positioned after the amplifier's Dirty-channel preamp gain.
Footswitch
The Clean and Dirty channels can be controlled remotely using a compatible latching footswitch, making channel changes easier during rehearsals and performances.
Headphones
The CabSim-equipped headphone output makes the Crush 35RT particularly useful for quiet practice when using the internal speaker is unsuitable.
External Audio Sources
The Aux input allows a compatible external audio source to be connected for playing along with backing tracks and other practice material.

Power Requirements
The Orange Crush 35RT is a mains-powered solid-state guitar amplifier.
Connect the amplifier only to the correct mains supply specified for the unit. It does not require valves, batteries or a separate external power supply for normal operation.
As a solid-state combo, there are no output valves requiring routine replacement or bias adjustment, making the Crush 35RT straightforward to own and maintain.
Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Orange Crush 35RT hits a particularly useful middle ground between a basic home practice amplifier and a much larger gigging combo.
The analogue two-channel design keeps operation straightforward, while the tuner, digital reverb, CabSim headphone output and fully buffered effects loop provide the features players actually use. Its 35-watt output also gives it considerably more room to grow with the player than many small starter amps.
This B-Stock example is especially appealing if you are happy to accept the stated dent in exchange for the opportunity to buy a highly capable Orange combo as B-Stock.
Best suited for: Beginners, intermediate players and experienced guitarists looking for a versatile compact practice and rehearsal amplifier.
Main benefit: Straightforward analogue Orange tones combined with genuinely useful practice and pedalboard features.
Value proposition: A particularly attractive B-Stock option for a player who prioritises performance and features over perfect physical presentation.
Standout feature: The combination of an analogue signal path with reverb, tuner, CabSim headphone output and a fully buffered effects loop.
Customers usually upgrade from: Small starter combos and basic 10-15 watt practice amplifiers.
Most commonly paired with: Overdrive or boost pedals, delay and modulation effects, headphones and a compatible channel footswitch.
Our tip: Use the Clean channel as a pedal platform as well as experimenting with the amplifier's own Dirty channel. The two approaches can give you very different sounds from the same compact rig.
Showroom feedback: The Crush 35RT is a strong choice for players who want something uncomplicated enough for daily practice but sufficiently equipped that they are unlikely to immediately outgrow it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Orange Crush 35RT suitable for beginners?
Yes. The control layout is straightforward enough for a new guitarist to understand, but the two channels, three-band EQ, effects loop and other features give it enough depth to remain useful as your playing develops.
Can I practise silently with the Crush 35RT?
Yes. The headphone output includes Orange CabSim speaker emulation, allowing you to practise through compatible headphones without using the internal speaker.
Can I use a pedalboard with the Crush 35RT?
Yes. Drive, boost, fuzz and similar pedals work through the main input, while the buffered effects loop is useful for delay, modulation and additional reverb effects.
Can I switch between Clean and Dirty channels with a footswitch?
Yes. A compatible latching footswitch can be used to change channels remotely, which is particularly useful during rehearsals and performances.
Does the Crush 35RT have built-in effects?
It includes digital reverb but is not a multi-effects modelling amplifier. This keeps the controls simple while allowing you to add other effects with pedals if required.
Is 35 watts enough for rehearsals?
The 35RT provides considerably more output than a small bedroom practice amp and can work well in moderate rehearsal situations. Required volume will depend on the drummer, other amplification and the style of music being played.
What does the CabSim headphone output do?
CabSim shapes the headphone signal to emulate the character of a miked guitar speaker cabinet, producing a more natural guitar sound than an untreated direct output.
Would the Crush 35RT suit an experienced player as a second amp?
Yes. Its compact dimensions, straightforward analogue circuit, effects loop and headphone facilities make it a useful home, teaching, rehearsal or backup amplifier even for guitarists who already own larger rigs.
Final Buying Advice
The B-Stock Orange Crush 35RT is an excellent option for anyone looking for a compact guitar combo with more flexibility than a basic practice amplifier.
Its 35-watt analogue platform, separate Clean and Dirty channels, Voice of the World speaker, three-band EQ, digital reverb, chromatic tuner, effects loop and CabSim headphone output cover the features most players actually need without introducing unnecessary menus or complicated programming.
With this individual example offered as B-Stock because of the stated dent, it is particularly well suited to a player who cares more about getting a capable Orange amplifier than achieving completely unmarked presentation.
