Description

Quick Product Summary

The Roland PM-200 is a powerful personal monitoring system designed specifically for electronic drums and other electronic percussion setups. Delivering 180 watts through a 12-inch custom speaker and horn tweeter, it provides the punch, low-end weight and high-frequency detail needed to reproduce everything from kick drums and toms to cymbals and percussion sounds with clarity.

An integrated mixer, dedicated V-Drums input, additional line connectivity and onboard EQ make the PM-200 easy to integrate into home, rehearsal and live setups. Twin XLR direct outputs also allow your electronic drum signal to be passed to a PA or recording system while retaining the PM-200 as your personal monitor.

What Makes the Roland PM-200 Special?

Electronic drums place very different demands on a speaker compared with a conventional guitar amplifier. The PM-200's full-range design combines a 12-inch woofer with a dedicated horn tweeter, allowing it to handle the deep impact of kick and tom sounds while retaining the attack and detail of cymbals and higher-frequency percussion.

The integrated mixer makes it particularly practical for drummers. Your drum module can be connected alongside an additional audio source, while the global EQ lets you tailor the overall sound to the room. For live use, dedicated XLR outputs provide an easy route to the main PA without giving up your own stage monitoring.

FAQs

Is the Roland PM-200 designed specifically for electronic drums?

Yes. The PM-200 is part of Roland's V-Drums monitoring range and is designed to reproduce the wide frequency range and fast transient response of electronic drums.

How powerful is the PM-200?

The PM-200 delivers 180 watts of output power, making it suitable for home use, louder rehearsals and many live monitoring applications.

What size speaker does the PM-200 use?

It features a 12-inch custom woofer together with a dedicated horn tweeter.

Why does an electronic drum monitor need a tweeter?

Electronic drum sounds contain significant high-frequency information, particularly from cymbals, hi-hats and percussion. The tweeter helps reproduce these details more accurately than a conventional single-speaker guitar-style amplifier.

Can I connect a Roland V-Drums kit directly?

Yes. The PM-200 includes dedicated connectivity designed for V-Drums and other compatible electronic drum modules.

Can I play backing tracks through the PM-200?

Yes. Additional line connectivity allows an external audio source to be connected so you can practise or perform along with backing tracks.

Can I connect the PM-200 to a PA system?

Yes. The PM-200 features two XLR direct outputs, making it easy to send your electronic drum signal to a PA or mixing desk.

Can I use the PM-200 as my personal monitor on stage?

Yes. This is one of its key strengths. The amplifier can provide powerful monitoring next to the drummer while its XLR outputs feed the main sound system.

Is the PM-200 suitable for home practice?

Yes. Although it is a powerful monitor, its volume can be adjusted for home practice. Its additional input connectivity also makes it convenient for playing along with music.

Is the PM-200 only compatible with Roland electronic drums?

No. While it is optimised for Roland V-Drums, it can also be used with other compatible electronic drum modules and electronic instruments using suitable line-level connections.

What is the difference between the Roland PM-100 and PM-200?

The PM-200 is the more powerful model, offering 180 watts and a 12-inch speaker, making it better suited to players who need greater volume, low-end authority and live-performance capability. It also offers professional direct-output connectivity.
