This subtle physical feedback helps recreate the connection between player, keyboard and resonating instrument experienced with an acoustic piano.

Its four-way, eight-speaker Piano Reality Projection system distributes different elements of the piano sound across dedicated cabinet, near-field, centre near-field and spatial speakers. Combined with six Piano Reality Ambience environments, Responsive Damper Action and detailed Piano Designer controls, the LX-9 provides extensive expressive control for serious piano playing.

Who Is It For?

The Roland LX-9-PE is designed for advanced students, experienced pianists, acoustic-piano players and families looking for Roland's most sophisticated upright digital piano experience.

It is particularly suited to players who want premium keyboard response and powerful room-filling projection while retaining practical digital advantages such as headphone practice, adjustable volume, recording, wireless connectivity and freedom from regular acoustic-piano tuning.

FAQs

Is the Roland LX-9 the flagship model in the LX range?

Yes. The LX-9 sits above the LX-6 and LX-5 as Roland's flagship upright digital piano, featuring the most sophisticated keyboard, cabinet and speaker configuration in the series.

How does the LX-9 differ from the LX-6?

The LX-9 adds Haptic Key Vibration to the Hybrid Grand Keyboard and expands the speaker system from five speakers to a four-way, eight-speaker Piano Reality Projection system. Its larger cabinet and opening top lid also create a more substantial acoustic-piano-inspired experience.

What is Haptic Key Vibration?

Haptic Key Vibration provides subtle physical feedback through the keyboard, recreating some of the tactile sensation produced by resonating strings and the cabinet of an acoustic piano.

Does the LX-9 use wooden keys?

The Hybrid Grand Keyboard combines wood and durable composite materials, together with a long key pivot, escapement and textured Ebony/Ivory Feel surfaces.

What is Piano Reality Modeling?

Piano Reality Modeling recreates the complex interactions and resonances of an acoustic piano in real time, allowing the instrument to respond naturally to touch, dynamics, articulation and pedal technique.

How many speakers does the LX-9 have?

The LX-9 features a sophisticated eight-speaker Piano Reality Projection system with dedicated cabinet, near-field, centre near-field and spatial speakers.

Can the top lid be opened?

Yes. The LX-9 features an opening top lid, adding to its premium acoustic-upright-inspired cabinet design.

Can I practise privately with headphones?

Yes. Two headphone connections are provided, and Piano Reality Headphones Ambience is designed to create a more spacious playing experience during private practice.

Does the LX-9 have Bluetooth?

Yes. Bluetooth Audio allows compatible devices to stream audio through the piano, while Bluetooth MIDI enables wireless communication with compatible music applications.

Can I use the Roland Piano App?

Yes. The LX-9 is compatible with the Roland Piano App, providing access to supported learning tools, digital scores and selected instrument controls.

Can the piano sound be customised?

Yes. Piano Designer provides extensive control over characteristics including resonance, hammer noise, cabinet response, soundboard behaviour, pedal response and individual-note settings.

Can I record my playing?

Yes. The LX-9 supports internal MIDI recording and WAV audio recording to a compatible USB flash drive.

Is the LX-9 suitable for advanced piano study?

Yes. Its long-pivot Hybrid Grand Keyboard, High Precision Sensing, Haptic Key Vibration and sophisticated three-pedal system make it particularly well suited to advanced repertoire and serious piano study.

Does the LX-9 require regular tuning?

No. As a digital piano, the LX-9 remains consistently in tune and does not require the periodic professional tuning associated with an acoustic piano.

What is special about the Polished Ebony finish?

The LX-9-PE features a premium high-gloss Polished Ebony cabinet that gives the instrument the traditional appearance and presence associated with a luxury acoustic piano.
