Roland RH-A30 Open Air Headphones
Description
Quick Product Summary
The Roland RH-A30 Open-Air Headphones are premium wired headphones designed for musicians, producers and players who prefer the spacious, natural character of an open-back listening experience. Large 45 mm drivers with neodymium magnets and CCAW voice coils deliver detailed reproduction across a wide 10 Hz–25 kHz frequency range.
Their lightweight, breathable design makes the RH-A30 particularly comfortable during longer practice, monitoring and production sessions. A long 3.4-metre OFC cable provides plenty of freedom around instruments and studio equipment, while the supplied 1/4-inch adaptor makes connection straightforward with digital pianos, electronic drums, keyboards, mixers and audio interfaces.
What Makes the Roland RH-A30 Special?
The RH-A30 combines detailed monitoring performance with the open and spacious presentation associated with open-air headphones. Its 45 mm neodymium drivers reveal subtle dynamics and tonal detail, making the headphones useful for everything from practising a digital piano or V-Drums kit to critical listening, mixing and music production.
The open-air construction also provides excellent comfort during extended sessions, allowing greater airflow around the ears and reducing the enclosed feeling associated with many closed-back designs. This makes the RH-A30 a strong choice for musicians who value both accurate sound and long-term wearing comfort.
Who Is It For?
The Roland RH-A30 is ideal for digital piano players, electronic drummers, keyboard players, producers, recording musicians and critical listeners who want detailed sound without the isolation of a closed-back headphone.
Their spacious presentation also makes them particularly appealing for home studios, extended practice sessions, mixing and situations where retaining some awareness of the surrounding environment is useful.

What are open-air headphones good for?
Open-air headphones are particularly well suited to critical listening, instrument practice, mixing and situations where a natural sense of space is preferred over maximum sound isolation.
Are the RH-A30 suitable for digital pianos?
Yes. Their detailed reproduction, comfortable design and long cable make the RH-A30 particularly well suited to digital piano practice.
Can I use the RH-A30 with Roland V-Drums?
Yes. The RH-A30 can be connected to compatible Roland V-Drums sound modules and provides detailed reproduction of electronic drum sounds.
Are the RH-A30 suitable for mixing?
Yes. Roland designed the RH-A30 for applications including monitoring, mixing and mastering, with a detailed and spacious response intended to reveal subtle elements within a recording.
What size drivers do the RH-A30 use?
The RH-A30 features 45 mm dynamic drivers with neodymium magnets and CCAW voice coils.
What is the frequency response?
The RH-A30 has a specified frequency response of 10 Hz to 25,000 Hz.
What impedance are the Roland RH-A30 headphones?
The RH-A30 has an impedance of 40 ohms, making it suitable for a broad range of compatible musical instruments and audio equipment.
How long is the headphone cable?
The attached OFC cable measures 3.4 metres, or approximately 11 feet, providing plenty of movement when practising or working in a studio.

Is a carrying pouch included?
Yes. Roland supplies the RH-A30 with a carrying pouch for storage and transportation.
Are the RH-A30 suitable for noisy environments?
Open-air headphones do not provide the same level of isolation as closed-back designs. They are therefore better suited to quieter environments where spacious sound and comfort are more important than blocking external noise.
Do open-air headphones leak sound?
Yes. Some sound can escape through the open earcups, particularly at higher listening levels. For this reason, the RH-A30 may not be ideal when recording close to sensitive microphones or when listening around other people who require silence.
Are the RH-A30 comfortable for long practice sessions?
Yes. The lightweight 250 g design and breathable open-air construction are specifically intended to provide comfortable listening during extended sessions.
