Four synths in one. The Nord Wave 2 61-Key Performance Synthesizer combines four independent synthesizers into one unit, offering exceptional possibilities for layering classic waveforms and samples. This can all be monitored through the OLED displays for program and oscillator sections. This, along with the instantly tweakable, hands-on effects contribute to the Wave 2 being Nord's most versatile performance synthesizer ever.

The Wave 2 is packed with a range of features that will help you find your sound. Four oscillator types, multi-layer capabilities, six filter types and a huge range of effects mean that you'll never run out of creative tools. This is done using Nord's trademark quality audio, with high-quality samples taken from Nord Sample Library 3.0.

Layer section

The Wave 2 features a Program Layer section with faders to easily control the volume or pan of each layer. These can, therefore, be played independently or simultaneously, resulting in unique synth sounds. The Layer section also provides handy features for quick layer focus, pan control, solo and multi-editing.

To customise your sound further, the Group feature allows you to group 2, 3 or four layers and process them together through filters, envelope, arpeggiator, LFO and effect settings. This is ideal for creating complex, multi-layered sounds that can be edited together. Alternatively, three split points provide up to 4 zones with optional crossfades.

Four oscillator modes

The oscillator section for each of the four layers offers four modes, Analog, Wavetable, FM and Samples. These can be browsed through the intuitive category mode. Within the Oscillator Control feature is additional parameters for shape, sync or detune. The Oscillator section also includes a powerful multi-oscillator effect which simultaneously generates hundreds of waveforms for extremely thick and fat sounds.

An oscillator for every occasion

The four oscillator categories each offer different characteristics for creating sounds. The Analog category offers an extensive range of waveforms from classic analog to harmonically rich additions. The Samples category utilises Nord’s sample library 3.0 for sounds ranging through strings, brass, guitars and more. These sounds also include the exclusively licensed sounds of the legendary Mellotron and Chamberlin and can be replaced using the Nord Sound Manager.

The Wavetable category covers a large number of advanced wavetables with a wide range of tonal characteristics. Finally, the FM category has 2, 3 and 4 operator configurations with harmonic and inharmonic variations. Still not enough options? The Nord Sample Editor 3 for Mac and Windows makes it easy to map, loop and transfer samples to your Nord Wave 2 in an instant.

Filters, Amp and LFO's

The Filter section has 6 filter types including an accurate emulation of the transistor ladder filter found in the legendary Mini. The filter is equipped with an ADSR envelope, providing ultimate control over the filter effect. The Wave 2 features a dedicated LFO providing a choice of waveforms for each layer, vibrato plus AD/AR modulation envelope with velocity setting and invert mode. The amp section is also equipped with a full ADSR envelope including a transient attack mode which adds a defined punch to your sound.

Morphing and impulse morph

The Wave 2 features an extensive range of morphable parameters. These include LFO amount, oscillator control, filter and effects that can be controlled from four different sources. Velocity, aftertouch, wheel and control pedal controls accurately effects the parameters. All the morph sources can be assigned to control multiple parameters simultaneously.

Polyphonic arpeggiator

The Nord Wave 2 also features an arpeggiator with both classic and polyphonic modes. These patterns will trigger all held keys featuring differing inversions for exciting harmonic variations. The gate mode chops the audio up into a rhythmic pattern which once again can be user edited.

Effects section

An independent section can be used to apply stereo effects including tremolo, pan, ring modulator, chorus, ensemble and vibe. These high-quality effects are all controllable via a pedal or can be synchronised to the master clock for rhythmic effects. Other effects include advanced stereo delay effects with ping pong mode, analog mode and tap tempo. Various reverbs are available, ranging from dark to bright and varying room sizes.
