What Makes the PRS SE McCarty 594 Singlecut Special?
The SE McCarty 594 Singlecut is designed around the feel and functionality of a traditional vintage-inspired electric. Its slightly thicker mahogany back, maple top and flame maple veneer provide a substantial foundation, while the set mahogany Pattern Vintage neck and 24.594-inch scale contribute to a comfortable feel with slightly reduced string tension compared with many longer-scale guitars. The rich Black Gold Burst finish highlights the figured flame maple veneer and gives the instrument a distinctly premium PRS appearance.
Its 58/15 LT “S” pickups are designed for vintage warmth, sweetness and clarity rather than excessive output. Each pickup has its own volume and push/pull tone control, allowing the bridge and neck pickups to be switched independently between full humbucker and brighter single-coil sounds. This creates a broad range of useful tones without sacrificing the intuitive control layout associated with classic two-humbucker guitars.
Who Is It For?
The SE McCarty 594 Singlecut is ideal for guitarists who enjoy the feel, response and control layout of a traditional single-cut electric but want the build quality, ergonomics and versatility associated with PRS.
It is particularly well suited to:
-
Blues and blues-rock guitarists
-
Classic and modern rock players
-
Pop and alternative musicians
-
Players who prefer lower-output vintage-style humbuckers
-
Guitarists who like a substantial Pattern Vintage neck
-
Players who prefer a shorter scale length
-
Musicians who want independent pickup volume and tone controls
-
Studio players requiring humbucker and single-coil sounds
-
Guitarists looking for a versatile fixed-bridge instrument
Why Choose a Vintage-Inspired Singlecut?
A traditional single-cut electric guitar offers a substantial playing feel, strong sustain and a familiar dual-humbucker control layout. The SE McCarty 594 Singlecut develops that formula with PRS ergonomics and independent coil-tapping.
The slightly shorter 24.594-inch scale gives the strings a comfortable response for bending and expressive lead work, while its fixed two-piece bridge provides a solid, straightforward platform for players who do not require a tremolo.
PRS SE McCarty 594 Singlecut vs SE McCarty 594
The SE McCarty 594 Singlecut and double-cut SE McCarty 594 share the same core scale length, Pattern Vintage neck, 58/15 LT “S” pickups and versatile control layout. The Singlecut uses the classic single-cut body shape and a slightly thicker back designed to support its substantial, sustaining character, making it particularly appealing to players who prefer the feel and appearance of a traditional single-cut guitar.

PRS 58/15 LT “S” Pickups
The 58/15 LT “S” pickups are designed around a warm, clear and vintage-inspired tonal character.
“LT” stands for Low Turn, reflecting the lower-wind approach used to create greater openness and definition rather than simply maximising output. This makes them particularly effective for expressive clean sounds, blues, classic rock and dynamic edge-of-breakup playing.
Turning up the gain still produces plenty of body and sustain, but individual notes and chord voicings remain well defined.
Independent Coil-Tap Switching
Each pickup has its own push/pull tone control, giving the SE McCarty 594 Singlecut considerably more flexibility than a conventional two-humbucker guitar.
You can run both pickups as full humbuckers, both in their coil-tapped modes or combine a humbucker with a tapped pickup. This makes it possible to move between thick rhythm tones, brighter clean sounds and mixed textures without changing guitars.
Pattern Vintage Neck
The Pattern Vintage neck profile is intentionally more substantial than PRS's Wide Thin and Pattern Thin designs.
Combined with the 24.594-inch scale and 10-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard, it provides a reassuring, vintage-inspired feel that works particularly well for chord playing, blues phrasing and expressive lead techniques.
PRS Two-Piece Bridge
The SE McCarty 594 Singlecut uses a PRS two-piece bridge constructed from zinc and brass.
Its increased mass and four contact points are designed to promote resonance and efficient energy transfer while providing the straightforward reliability of a fixed bridge.
Black Gold Burst Finish
The Black Gold Burst finish emphasises the flame maple veneer with warm golden tones across the centre and darker shading towards the edges.
It gives the SE McCarty 594 Singlecut a classic figured-top appearance that complements the model's vintage-inspired specification while retaining the unmistakable visual identity of PRS.
